Li Geng Xi gets on the Wrong Carriage but lands the Right Groom with Huang Jun Jie in Truth or Dare

Call me a nerd but I love it when I can put the name of the drama (or in this case, the old version) fits seamlessly in the post title (but quite ironic with HJJ’s situation 😛 )! Truth or Dare (花好月又圆) is touted as the drama remake of the period comedy in 2001 Wrong Carriage, Right Groom (上错花轿嫁对郎).

Plot According to Yoyo Youtube: A story that follows two couples who mistakenly find themselves in a marriage they never expected and gradually grow in love and trust over time. The cheerful and clever Xiao Wan Zi grew up as a street performer with her dad selling their special skill of breaking a big stone on the chest. An unexpected encounter utterly changes Xiao Wan Zi’s life. Xiao Wan Zi who neither knew how to read nor write suddenly finds herself becoming a princess. Opposed to marrying the princess, Mei San Shao pushes Xiao Wan Zi away in hopes that she’d willingly retreat. Meanwhile, the king has arranged a marriage for Lu Ying Yao, the daughter of the 9th prince. However, bandit Xiao Bao Ye mistakenly takes her as his wife.

I’m quite surprised this drama decided to air considering Huang Jun Jie’s personal scandal, which forced him to quietly take a break from his acting career since April of this year.

Airing 6/8~

Scifi drama Humans: Chinese adaptation of British Tv Series with Ma Tian Yu and Qi Wei

China is venturing out more huh? Humans (你好安怡) is an adaptation of British TV show with 3 seasons (each with 8 episodes) back in 2015 – 2018. But even that was based on a Swedish science fiction drama called Real Humans in 2012. To quote Wiki, The series focuses on the social, cultural, and psychological impact of the invention of anthropomorphic robots called “synths.” In the Chinese Version, our hero played by Ma Tian Yu is out looking for his beloved robots while trying to dodge the pursuit of Professor Huo. His father created four to be his siblings, and three were stolen. One of the robot is played by Qi Wei, now with her memory wiped, she’s bought by a family to help do household chores (the year is 2035 and we are that advanced, lol). However, she begins to display very human-like qualities, causing chaos between the husband and wife.

Airing 2/19!

Sha Po Lang (Winner is King) with Chen Zhe Yuan and Tan Jian Ci releases First Stills

Adapted from the novel written by Priest, Sha Po Lang (杀破狼) is set during the Great Liang Dynasty where steam-powered machines make lives better and worse for many people. In a small countryside village, our hero (Chen Zhe Yuan) has lived since he was a child. He’s Chang Geng and he’s close to two young kids, his teacher, and his adoptive father – our other male lead (Tan Jian Ci). Their age difference is only 6/7 years. His somewhat peaceful life is turned upside down when the barbaric tribe Man invaded and his real identity is revealed – he’s the Emperor’s son (4th Prince) with the Man’s high priestess. And his beloved adoptive father with impaired hearing and vision turns out to be a respected General. After the invasion, our Fourth Prince is escorted back to the capital and this is where his story begins. Other cast members right now include Li Hong Yi (as Shen Yi) and Sun An Ke (as Chen Qing Xu).

Expect changes to the drama, as always. Filming began in July and has ended.

You can read the novel here.

Priest’s Sha Po Lang drama confirms male leads Chen Zhe Yuan and Tan Jian Ci

Another boy-love novel from Priest (the money bag is getting heavy, yes? :D)! Sha Po Lang (杀破狼) is set during the Great Liang Dynasty where steam-powered machines make lives better and worse for many people. In a small countryside village, our hero (Chen Zhe Yuan) has lived since he was a child. He’s Chang Geng and he’s close to two young kids, his teacher, and his adoptive father – our other male lead (Tan Jian Ci). Their age difference is only 6/7 years. His somewhat peaceful life is turned upside down when the barbaric tribe Man invaded and his real identity is revealed – he’s the Emperor’s son with the Man’s high priestess (Don’t know what her position is called, but scandalous nonetheless!).

Steampunk technologies! Interesting. Who has read the novel and can give me some spoilers? Lol.

Truth or Dare: Period comedy remake of Wrong Carriage, Right Groom with Huang Jun Jie and Li Geng Xi

Truth or Dare (花好月又圆) is touted as the drama remake of the period comedy in 2001 Wrong Carriage, Right Groom (上错花轿嫁对郎) with Nie Yuan and Huang Yi. The new version announces Huang Jun Jie (Dr. Cutie) and Li Geng Xi (A Little Reunion). The drama follows two women who are set to marry on the same day. Due to the heavy rain, both bridal carriages stop at a temple, making the two girls befriend each other in the short time they spent together. However, they later get on the wrong carriage and are brought home to unexpected turnouts. From the title, I think it’s a happy twist of events that they meet the right groom after all. I haven’t watched the original drama but my mom loved it. She loves Huang Yi in almost everything. Lol. And guess what, author Xi Juan also wrote the novel-turned-drama adaptation Cuo Dian Yuan Yang with Zhao Li Ying.

The original is available on youtube without English subs. I have only managed to find Episode 1 and 2 subbed by Kaparin An (link).

Ok, having said all that, erase what I just told you. Lol. This new version is based LOOSELY inspired by the novel as I scanned the new synopsis and it resembles nothing of the old version. Female lead is basically a wanderer who performs tricks on the streets to earn money for a living. At a chance encounter, she’s mistaken as the princess and married to a rich master played by Huang Jun Jie. The second female lead is a princess and she’s brought to the mountains (or somewhere else) by second male lead (a bandit no less!) who thinks she’s his bride-to-be. This sounds too comical!!

Zeng Shun Xi’s Heavenly Sword Dragon Slaying Saber 2018 drops first trailer

Okay, okay. This remake looks pretty decent! Abundant of real outdoor scenes with waterfalls, mountains, and trees. The girls are gorgeous to look at and like I said last time, Zhu Xu Dan as Zhou Zhi Ruo is stealing all my attention without breaking a sweat. She has that cold beauty vibes going for her and I’m a sucker for it. Lol. Our hero played by Zeng Shun Xi worries me a little because he only has one expression throughout the trailer. xD To be fair though, Wu Ji the character isn’t very expressive…
