Midsummer is Full of Love: Chinese remake of Full House with Xu Wei Zhou and Yang Chao Yue

Original name is Midsummer is Full of Hearts but it has now been tweaked to Midsummer is Full of Love (仲夏满天心). It’s the Chinese remake of Korean drama Full House starring Xu Wei Zhou and Yang Chao Yue. Ah, Full House, one of the first series that kick-started the Hallyu wave for sure back in 2004, based on the manhwa by Won Soo Yeon, following our independent heroine who lives in a beautiful house constructed by her late father. Unfortunately for her, she has some bad friends and they trick her into thinking she has won a vacation. While she’s on vacation, they sell her house to spoiled brat superstar – our male lead. When she returns, the two are forced to live together, spurring all sorts of hijinks.

Rain and Song Hye Kyo were very adorable together, in my memory. *three bear song plays*

Airing soon ~

In A Class of Her Own with Ju Jing Yi and Song Wei Long confirms broadcast

If you didn’t know, In A Class of Her Own (云上学堂) is the Chinese remake of a very popular Korean drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal in 2010!

2010! A decade ago… While I was having raccoon eyes studying during college with over 20 credits per semester, I was also nursing a blooming love for Yoo Ah In in the dark corner of my heart, who was all eyes for Park Min Young in the series. What a lucky gal, being surrounded by three very different but equally charming men.

Airing on 7/23! Check out the 3 English-Subbed trailers after the jump!

Symphony’s Romance with Lin Yun and Zhang Xin Cheng finally gets air date

Nodame Cantabile is a manga by Tomoko Ninomiya and has been adapted as live-action television dramas by Japan (with Hiroshi Tamaki and Juri Ueno) and Korea (with Joo Won and Shim Eun Kyung). The new English title is Symphony’s Romance with leads in Zhang Xin Cheng of My Huckleberry Friends and Lin Yun of Battle Through The Heaven. I personally haven’t finished either version but have heard of numerous praises for the Japanese version, for capturing and meshing the quirkiness of its characters and classical music seamlessly.

Airing 6/21!

Imperfect Love: Chinese remake of Japanese drama Mother with Zhou Xun and Kara Hui

Holy smokes! This is one hot tamales train! I didn’t watch the original Japanese drama Mother but have heard of numerous praises about it, spawning countless remakes from different countries. The latest one from China is Imperfect Love (不完美的她) with a line of acting powerhouses in Zhou Xun, Kara Hui, and Angie Chiu. The original story follows a substitute teacher in first grade who doesn’t really like kids. A particular little girl clings to the new teacher, awakening her maternal instincts, as she realizes the child is subjected to abuse at home. Taking matters into her own hand, our teacher decides to take the poor girl away and start a new life together.

Have you watched the original or remakes from other countries?

Set to air 3/27.
