Peter Ho, Zhu Yi Long, and Viann Zhang in As Flowers Fade and Fly Across the Sky

Reunion! Between the leads, Zhu Yi Long and Viann Zhang, from last year’s Border Town Prodigal. The latest costume series began filming on January 2nd with other actors such as Peter Ho, Li Xin Ai, Zhu Zi Xiao, and Yu Xiao Tong. From my drama knowledge, the title Hua Xie Hua Fei Hua Man Tian (花谢花飞花满天) or As Blooms/Flowers Fade and Fly Across the Sky is based on a long poem from the classic novel The Story of the Stone aka Dream of the Red Chamber. It has been remade into a song and you can listen and read the translation at the end. However, there’s also a novel with the same name which I’m positive it’s adapted from. According to the synopsis, bandit’s son (Peter) acquires an injury as a child and loses his memory. He then gets adopted by by another pair of kind parents. Years later, he takes it upon himself to search for their missing daughter (Viann Zhang) who was kidnapped by his very own biological father. After rescuing her, he regains his memory and reunites with his real father. They then work together to clear his father’s reputation against a big bad boss.

Wait up, wait up, so Peter is the lead? Oh Yi Long…

Zhao Li Ying’s Ji Xiang Tian Bao unveils themesong, airdate

This crazy drama is gonna be the death of me. The convoluted twisty romance is buoyed merely by Zhao Li Ying‘s chemistry with Zhu Zi Xiao, and if anything, I’m watching to see how they drive each other into hell (quite literally) with his possessive and destructive love for her. I don’t like that kind of love but I’m excited to see Zhu Zi Xiao flex his acting skills in this role. Color me strangely intrigued. After being shelved for three years, Ji Xiang Tian Bao aka Lucky Tian Bao (吉祥天宝) will meet audience in the form of a webdrama, airing exclusively on tencent platform for VIP accounts, starting today, June 6th.

Then I will secretly, shamelessly, watch it. XD

Zhang Han’s The Rhapsody Of A Summer Dream holds press conference and reveals cast

So I’m done being twelve but that doesn’t mean I’m happy with the bait-and-switch drama behind this project! The confusion and anger on the net was understandable. Zhu Yi Long and Song Yi are now playing the supporting characters in the novel adaptation of The Rhapsody Of A Summer Dream (夏梦狂诗曲 ) written by Jun Zi Yi Ze. Zhang Han plays producer and male lead. His female lead is none other Korean actress, Go Joon Hee (She Was Pretty). Such a cruel twist of fate. Instead of promoting their own supporting actors to first lead, the production team promotes Korea’s supporting actress to first lead. (nothing against Joon Hee, I like her). *side eye everyone with power real hard* I was and still am raging my fist in the air at this division of labor!

Zhu Zi Xiao cast as Kublai Khan in Yu Zheng’s Condor remake

 photo condor.jpg

Correction. Rumors before stated that Jiro Wang might play Kublai Khan but Yu Zheng has just released images of Zhu Zi Xiao as the real deal. Annnnnnnd I’m not impressed with the decision. (Nothing against the actor, I adore him…) As of right now, the whole cast comprises of young actors and actresses playing really old characters. It’s hard to take them seriously. You can call this, Condor: The Idols, and you wouldn’t be wrong.

Disjointed trailer for Ji Xiang Tian Bao starring Zhao Li Ying & Kim Ki Bum

Zhao Li Ying continues to be on fire with project after project. News says this one is already done filming and she has already started on a new drama. This girl doesn’t sleep, as evidence suggests. How did she find the time to shoot The Palace, in between all the promotional activities and filming schedules? Definitely one of the break-out stars of this year – the other half is obviously her reel boyfriend, Chen Xiao. 😉
