First trailer for Legend of the Condor Heroes 2017 with Li Yi Tong and Yang Xu Wen

BLAH. What the heck. January will be the death of Cdrama viewers. Here’s another one set to air and competition will be tight among the contenders. Legend of the Condor Heroes 2017 is another drama adaptation of Jin Yong‘s novel, first part of his Condor Trilogy, led by new faces Li Yi Tong (Demon Girl) and William Yang Xu Wen (The Legend of Chusen) who played the opposite-attracts OTP, with her being the cunning and shrewd female lead and him being the bumbling honest man every step of the way. The trailer looks good.

Official Posters for The Legend of the Condor Heroes 2016

I know we were disappointed Janice didn’t get the role but I’m having positive thoughts with Li Yi Tong. She looks so cute and mischievous as a beggar! Acting-wise, we have no clue except for her upcoming drama, Demon Girl, which is airing on June 30th! YESH! I do like that they are using new faces in prominent roles – roles that will get people noticing and talking. Comparison is inevitable but let’s not be too severe. On the other hand, I’m not feeling Yang Xu Wen yet. One really needs to have that special quality for me to accept Guo Jing’s naivety and find him endearing. As a character, he’s too frustratingly nice. Lol.

*good thoughts*

Li Yi Tong, Yang Xu Wen in Legend of the Condor Heroes 2016

Alright! A new remake in the making. What’s new nowadays, right? Lol.

The production team was trying to be secretive about the casting but it was already known in the cyberspace for many months about the two lucky new faces getting the coveted roles of a lifetime… in one of Jin Yong’s famous novels, Legend of the Condor Heroes. The new remake will be directed by Jeffrey Chiang (The Myth) and written by Chen Man Ling (The Legend of Magic Mirror). There’s also one small surprise at the end…. one actor from one of the previous versions is invited to play another character in the new version… hehe.

Discussion Corner: Line Walker (2014, HKdrama)

 photo Walker08-131.jpg

Still enjoying this drama even if the tonal shifts are jarring at times. For a serious genre, with life and death at stakes, Line Walker befuddles me in its embrace of comedy and happy-go-lucky tunes from time to time, sometimes within seconds of a dramatic scene. I guess even moles need breaks too. Anyway, as Hong Kong dramas air at rapid speed with five episodes a week, it’s hard for me to keep up with recaps so I decided on an alternative – this discussion post! So please join me as we guess and recover the last undercover agent (UC) and the big bad wolf in the police force. You can find this post under the discussion corner tab on the right hand corner of this website!

Please refrain from posting spoilers of the identities of the big wolf/last mole if you’ve read it beforehand in TVB magazines. At least wait until it is revealed in the episodes. Other than that, nothing is restricted!

UPDATED (9/25/14): Episode 16-20 Summary.

Line Walker: Episode 1 – 5 “Great beginning!”

 photo Walker-26-1.jpg

hee! I marathon-ed all five episodes last night until 2AM! Haven’t done so in a while, for a TVB series no less. The first episode was rather slow because our group of cops, spies, and gangsters didn’t meet yet but once they do, the chemistry is palpable, not the romantic kind either, but in the spirit of camaraderie. I adore the chosen cast, even if there’s a nagging regret of not seeing Tony Leung Ka Fai onscreen for his TVB comeback. His replacement, Michael Miu, still screams handsomeness and charms even at the age of 56! Charmaine Sheh and Raymond Lam have definitely stepped up to the plate because they are hilarious and work very well together.

Li Qin’s Flowers Pinellia to air November 30th

 photo Fpen9.jpg

Which is basically today on Hunan Tv. It’s another novel-to-tv adaptation of the same name. If Zhao Li Ying was the breakout star of 2012-2013, then Li Qin is the latest contender to take the spotlight cause this girl has several dramas under her wings, to film and to air. The newest one, Flowers Pinellia, depicts Xia Ru Hua (Li Qin)’s life with a brotherly figure, Wei Ru Feng (Lin Shen) as the two struggle to cope after Ru Hua’s grandma’s death. Their loss is further exacerbated when Ru Hua is raped by a hooligan (Spoilers!) To seek revenge, Ru Feng dwindles down the path of temptations and emotional turmoils.

Left to Right: Jazz Lam, Derek Kwok, Michael Miu, Raymond Lam, Law Lok Lam

Excited for this! So far this year, I’ve only watched and finished 2 tvb dramas: Three Kingdoms RPG and Tiger Cubs. I tried Ghetto Justice 2 but the whole thing was a basic rehash of the first series, so I got bored.
