Lighter & Princess (打火机与公主裙) is adapted from the novel written by Twentine. It is a story about the passions of youth and the cruelty of time and people’s hearts. On the outside, our female lead, Zhu Yun is your typical poster child of a well-behaved, obedient student. She grew up under the strict supervision of her parents and strives to do well in school as to not disappoint them. But deep down, Zhu Yun is secretly rebellious and has quite the sarcastic tongue. She would have followed her parents’ set path for her had she not met the outwardly rebellious male lead, Li Xun, who attracts her attention on their first day of school with his bright golden hair and devil-may-care attitude. He’s loud about his lawless ways and even if Zhu Yun curses him under her breath, she can’t help but slowly falls for his hidden intelligence and talents. He has her wrapped around his fingers for sure. 😛 She believes in him and stays by his side through all their ups and downs, even during and after the separation arc (6 years).
I guess in dramaland, we need a mascot for bad boys with a marshmallow heart. Fei Yu, you’re it!

In the last few years, I’ve gone through several drama droughts, where I wasn’t interested in any of the dramas coming out. As the popularity of IP adaptations continued to surge and seeing the more light-hearted comedies released, I decided it was time to venture into the source medium.
However, where to start was always puzzling and how should I prioritise this growing list of Chinese novels I accumulated? I’m not sure if I’m alone in this, but after a while I became overwhelmed and now those books on my TBR list just sit there, whilst I find other novels to read. I normally visit Douban when I want to find a new novel to read, but Douban has three ways of arranging their novels; their comprehensive arrangement (whatever that may mean), arrange by date or arrange by rating. As the ratings lover that I am, here is a list of highest rated romance novels on Douban.
