Li Yi Tong and Jin Han begin filming for Ding Mo’s My Deepest Dream (The Dark Clouds Meet The Bright Moon)

My Deepest Dream (乌云遇皎月) is an upcoming modern drama adapted from the sci-fi novel written by Ding Mo starring Li Yi Tong and Jin Han. The storyline is quite complicated so I’ll try to simplify it….I hope. XD Our leads first meet on a cruise and at the time; he was a mathematics graduate, described as wise, clean, and sharp, and she was a web writer. They speak briefly but the conversation is enough for them to feel the attraction. But due to a minor misunderstanding, she leaves the cruise feeling unhappy. A year later, they meet for the second time and now he’s transformed completely, he’s a broody repairman. Though she does not recognize him, he still manages to attract her. What has happened in a span of a year for a man to change that much? They thought leaving the cruise a year ago meant their path has ended, but it’s quite the opposite. Apparently, the cruise they were on had an accident and the people on the cruise went missing for a time period. They were later rescued and compensated by the travel agency but there’s one caveat – the passengers can’t remember what happened during their time on the cruise. (I don’t know what this means?)

So what happened to our male lead during the one year period? His sister was brutally murdered by a serial killer and his mother eventually passed away due to heartache. He leaves everything behind him, armed with a passion to find the killer. He settles down as a repairman as it’s the only place of peace for him. Ah, I think I kinda get the story now. He time-travels to the past to find the killer before he kills his sister. Along the way, he and female lead get involved with many cases. He’s the dark clouds and she’s the bright moon shining over him.

Ok, did I fail? Anyone who has read the novel and has a better understanding of the timeline, feel free to help/correct me. Lol.

Trailers Galore from iQiYi and Tencent: Who’s The Murderer, Dear Missy, Ancient Love Poetry, Dou Luo Continent, Mirror Twin Cities, Spirit Realm

Here’s a long compilation of teasers and trailers released at various events this past week such as the iQiYi iJoy and Tencent video conference. Sorry, I can’t physically make 20+ separate posts for each of them. I think I have written about the majority before so it’s nothing new. Just a peek from different online platforms for what’s coming up next for them.

Which ones are you looking forward to?

Royal Nirvana with Luo Jin and Li Yi Tong to air 12-episode Special Epilogue

A year after the series ended, we now have, hopefully, a proper ending. It’s based on the novel written by Xue Man Liang Yuan and if the drama follows the novel, it is most likely a sad ending. I didn’t watch Royal Nirvana last year so have no idea where they ended the series. But the additional 12 episodes are not newly filmed. The original was edited/cut so now we are getting the unaired footage compiled.

Airing 9/22!

Love You Forever: A Timeless Love Story between Li Yi Tong and Li Hong Qi

The stills for this movie are so lovely, beautiful, and romantic, they hit all the right notes for me. Romance film Love You Forever (我在时间尽头等你) stars Li Yi Tong and Li Hong Qi and it has finally snatched a theater release date after being delayed due to the pandemic. The story follows our aspiring ballerina who helps out an older theater attendant, and in doing so discovers his diary. The content stuns her; his diary details their romance through his memories since childhood; the timeless romance that is concealed in another dimension. As it turns out, our male lead was given the chance to travel back in time and he did it to correct a mistake in the past. However, fate doesn’t let you tamper with it without consequences.

In selected theaters on 8/25!

Yang Yang impresses with emotionally charged teaser in China Special Forces

Color me intrigued! That is a good trailer! I haven’t been super interested in any of Yang Yang’s recent projects but this one might be the one to pull me back in! China Special Forces (特战荣耀) is modern drama following the coming of age story of our male lead as he joins the military to gain his father’s approval. His talents astonish many people and also gain him side-eye dislike from one of the leaders and he’s then assigned to the cooking crew. Who would have thought that the cooking team is packed with talented people hiding their skills. He works hard and is then assigned to a special armed team (forgive me, I don’t know the technical terms). But during a mission, our young, ambitious male lead chooses heroism over teamwork and thus begins a journey of humility and genuine camaraderie within the team.

Don’t Think Twice Love’s All Right with Li Yi Tong and Chen Jian Bin to air

Previously known as Brave to Love, the modern drama has since changed its name to Don’t Think Twice Love’s All Right (爱我就别想太多) starring Li Yi Tong and Chen Jian Bin. As you can see the theme of this drama is exactly their big age gap. He’s a golden bachelor trying to find his partner for life and he meets a bubbly, youthful designer. He wants her to love him not for his money so he conceals his “rich” background, which makes it quite an upsetting lie for her to discover after their marriage. She wants a divorce but the two must maintain appearance for a few months for their company’s sake. Will those few months be able to save their blooming garden?

I’m a shallow person alright, but I do believe that love comes in many forms, shapes, sizes, status, and ages (uh, the legal ones). Both are strong actors so let’s hope they can sell their romance and sparkle. ❤

Airing tomorrow 6/25!
