Behind-The-Scenes videos: Tribes and Empires, Ever Night, Legend of Fu Yao, Sweet Dreams

You know me, I love behind-the-scenes videos. These Chinese productions have hundreds of workers on locations every day, so it’s not strange to see how fast they can shoot a drama within 3 months (usually modern), day-in-day-out. What we see onscreen is a the final results of blood and sweats and watching these videos always shows a new level of appreciation for the crew who works tirelessly behind the cameras all-year long.

Ancient Drama Updates: Legend of Fu Yao, The King of Blaze, God of Lost Fantasy, Win The World

I was preparing for bed until I saw the onslaught of updates on news sites. Turns out it’s Qixi Festival aka Chinese Valentine’s Day! Drama productions release new stills to celebrate the annual meeting of two (tragic) lovers, the tale of Zhi Nu and Niu Lang’s forbidden love as the cowherd and weaver girl in Chinese mythology. I’m sure we have at least watched one adaptation of this story.

You might drown in the stills so I focus mostly on ancient dramas….for now. Lol.

Yang Mi’s Legend of Fu Yao releases first set of Character Stills

I love how whenever they dress Yang Mi as a male, she looks the same in all her dramas with that cute little scholar hat. Lol. Legend of Fu Yao (扶摇) is adapted from the novel written by Tian Xia Gui Yuan and began filming on June 27th and plans to film for about 5 months.

Legend of Fu Yao reveals Yang Mi and Ethan Ruan Character Posters

We finally have a peek at the styling for our OTP – Yang Mi and Ethan Ruan in their upcoming period drama Legend of Fu Yao (扶摇皇后), an adaptation from the novel written by Tian Xia Gui Yuan, same author behind Chen Kun’s The Rise of Phoenixes. And I’m happy to report that both look good! Yang Mi had horrendous styling in Eternal Love that I still can’t get over them (lol), so am glad they made her look very pretty here!

Ethan Ruan confirmed as Yang Mi’s leading man in Empress Fu Yao

The two cast mates, Yang Mi and Ethan Ruan, have outed their confirmation on weibo today using wordplay. Congratulations! It’s interesting, isn’t it? Collaboration with another Taiwanese actor. Fu Yao is based on the novel (Empress Fu Yao) written by Tian Xia Gui Yuan, same author behind Chen Kun’s The Rise of Phoenixes. As for the storyline, there’s a time-traveling element but as always it will be removed. Our heroine is strong-willed and a smart girl, she works as an archeologist before the tomb collapses and she’s sent back in time. She’s shameless, loves money, pretty boys (lol!). There are palace fights, journey in jianghu, and missions where she must collect “secret orders” of the five pearls by undergoing many dangerous expeditions. I don’t know what that means. Will find out more details later. Or you book lovers can tell me the spoilers. =D
