Zhao Li Ying’s 10th Year Debut Anniversary (May 6th)

I can’t believe it’s been 10 years since our country bumpkin kick-started her career in the entertainment world. After winning Yahoo’s Search Star Game (搜星比赛), she scored her first CF. While she was in minor roles in dramas that I have watched, alongside actresses like Chen Qiao En, Ady An, etc.., I only ever started to pay attention to her elf-like features when she was cast in the remake of Huan Zhu Ge Ge (Princess Returning Pearl) in 2011 as the demure and intelligent Qing Er. The fandom really began for me with Female Prime Minister, buoyed by her fantastic chemistry with Chen Xiao and the onslaught of pretty, pretty visuals. So I guess one way or another, Yu Zheng brought us together. *snickers* Never thought I would say that line….

Bulletin Board: Cdramaland/ENT News (33)

Caught a break and went to watch The Jungle Book with my little boy. Seems like the running theme in all Disney movies is identifying and enhancing one’s sense of self (be the best of you!) Haven’t watched the original movie or animation series, but I enjoyed the movie and loved it quite a bit. Baloo and his jokes got me rolling.

Ten beautiful actresses join Hunan new reality show, Up Idol

Wow, what a fanboy-driven show! Heck, I’m a girl and I definitely have a crush on almost all the invited ladies. Up Idol (or Idol Is Coming), is a new reality show produced by HunanTV with ten beautiful actresses of their respected era traveling to different areas, one of them being Mongolia. Just when we complained we don’t have enough sisterhood displayed onscreen, here is a golden chance for creating those precious bonds that might just last a life time. I’m not sure what it is about because the baidu page is pretty unhelpful. But the core of the show is dividing them into two teams and competing them in various games and competitions. The show begins airing on July 25th. There will be male guests in certain episodes and some of the leaked news include Li Yi Feng, TFboys, Kris Wu, EXO, and Lu Han.

Who are the ten actresses? Click to find out! 😀

Flawless Yan Kuan in upcoming remake of Xiao Shi Yi Lang’s Trailer

Time to check in with another remake. Last time I wrote about the casting news was 8 months ago! Dun, dun, dun. Time flew by, didn’t it? And I kid you not. Yan Kuan, along with the cast, is perfection in every single still! Men and women everywhere should be envious. I’m excited about this one because 1) Don’t recall much about the storyline, last remake was a decade ago 2) the likable cast!

UPDATE (3/31/15): TRAILER (and more stills) IS OUT!!

Yan Kuan signs up as the new Xiao Shi Yi Lang 2015

I’m pretty sure that good news is gonna come out soon, cause there’s no other reason other than baby daddy that can force a man to leave his beautiful wife right after marriage and work endlessly and over nights, right? Still filming for Three Heroes and Five Gallants as the dashing Zhan Zhao, Yan Kuan takes on a completely different character – a noble thief, Xiao Shi Yi Lang, in the novel by Gu Long (The New Adventures of Chor Lau Heung, The Proud Twins, The Legend of Lu Xiao Feng).

The last drama adaptation of Xiao Shi Yi Lang was eleven years ago, starring Nicky Wu, Yu Bo, and Athena Chu. Watch on Viki. Around the same time, TVB also has their own version with Felix Wong and Maggie Siu (I watched this version, but don’t recall much…)

Second leads in Princess of Lan Ling brews up a storm in latest stills

 photo PLL90.jpg

Remember how much we hated the second lead girl in King of Lan Ling? Well, well, well. Looks like it’s gonna be ugly this time as well because the stills suggest that our Prince (Andy Chen) does return her feelings… O_O!! While Yu Wen Yong (Guan Ying Peng) continues to capture hearts with his dangerous push-and-pull ways.

In contrary to the other posts, this time, I won’t ask for it to air so soon. 😉
