The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 33 – 36 “Reckless actions.”

Much better than last week’s episodes because events finally escalate to one climax of the story and we get some truths of the big picture as well. You know what they say, the road to Hell is paved by one’s love for Bai Zi Hua good intentions. Everyone wants to protect and save him despite the costs. And I will throw out Spark’s epic question: Do the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few…or in this case, the one?

The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 29 – 32 “Running in Circles.”

You and me both, sister.

That’s it. I’m officially drained by the draggy plot and repetitive actions of these characters. No humor left to entertain ya’ll. Everyone runs in circles… and the Vampire Period of Bai Zi Hua begins. Fans have been grumbling about the removal of those “munching” scenes but I really don’t have any complaints. I have no interest in seeing how he chomps all over her body.

The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 25 – 28 “Deep slumber.”

You know you’re at the half-way mark when you don’t recognize the opening theme song because it’s a new one, “Through the Ages” by the very talented Alan Dawa Dolma. And it’s a much slower song than the previous one. Not sure I like it yet but the power of brainwashing is very strong for this series…if you catch my drift. Ha. And when I say deep slumber, it takes on both literal and figurative meanings. What’s the benefits of being immortal if you’re gonna be miserable all the time? It’s a pass for moi!

The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 21 – 24 “The Alternatives.”

I know I’m slow, if only I were a robot, recapping would be a breeze! So let’s keep spoilers from future episodes away from this post (we can discuss book changes, of course!) Last recap was really fun, thanks to everyone who chimed in. The discussion was lively and I think we all learned a thing or two, even if we are on different shipping camp. It’s okay to think differently than others (it is after all subjective), as long as we keep the discussion polite and respectful, I think we can make it to episode 54 without losing anyone. Lol. Let’s promise that you guys will watch and suffer with me through this arduous journey because the death count is officially on and you never know when your favorite character is on the chopping block!

The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 17 – 20 “Romance is here…”

For a drama billed with a central pair in an angsty forbidden love, the budding romance has disappointed me. There was no build-up and we’re literally told, just like the heroine, how her heart feels. It’s not even the acting, because Wallace and Li Ying are perfectly cast for the characters, and while I poke fun at Zi Hua a lot (because I’m spoiled by the future), he hasn’t done anything that I dislike… yet. Not sure how it is written in the book but so far, I’m not buying the drama’s development: I-love-shifu-and-want-to-be-with-him-forever shenanigan.

The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 9 – 12 “Apprenticeship.”

Not even sure why I busted my fingers to finish this long recap. It’s July 4th! No one will be here to read recap. Ya’ll should be outside drinking and having fun. But if you’re waiting for your drinks to arrive, feel free to take a peak. In related news, HunanTV has changed the airing days of Flower to Sundays and Mondays starting tomorrow to sneak in their in-house production, Taekwondo Girl, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Why? Because Flower has been crushing the ratings game and Hunan wants to dip their own production in the said time slot, hoping for the same high ratings. I’m having evil thoughts right now so I better stop when I’m ahead. LOL.

Happy 4th of July!

The Journey of Flower (Hua Qian Gu): Episode 5 – 8 “The men.”

Alrighty, so all the important men in Qian Gu’s life have made an appearance in these four episodes and she gets to meet all of them. And I don’t think this drama is good for my blood pressure. Looks like getting tortured is her second job or something. She does not care about my health at all. Her little worm, Tang Bao, is so cute. 😀
