Line Walker: Episode 1 – 5 “Great beginning!”

 photo Walker-26-1.jpg

hee! I marathon-ed all five episodes last night until 2AM! Haven’t done so in a while, for a TVB series no less. The first episode was rather slow because our group of cops, spies, and gangsters didn’t meet yet but once they do, the chemistry is palpable, not the romantic kind either, but in the spirit of camaraderie. I adore the chosen cast, even if there’s a nagging regret of not seeing Tony Leung Ka Fai onscreen for his TVB comeback. His replacement, Michael Miu, still screams handsomeness and charms even at the age of 56! Charmaine Sheh and Raymond Lam have definitely stepped up to the plate because they are hilarious and work very well together.

Coffee Cat Mama: Episode 5-8 “Shipping has settled.”

 photo Coffee620.jpg

For two people who are still reading, this is probably my last recap for CCM, unless something awesome compels me to rave. It’s a solid show but I find the humor more funny and the scenes more meaningful if you experience it through watching instead of reading.

Return of the Silver Tongue: Episode 10-13 “Parenthood.”

 photo Silver13-26.jpg

Being a parent is probably the hardest task in one’s lifetime. While the majority chooses to unconditionally love their kids, drama parents aren’t so selfless. Romance for the leads take a backstage in these set of episodes to let sisterhood, brotherhood, and most importantly, motherhood take center stage. Which means our talented supporting cast members got to flex their acting muscle. Verdict? Strong performances.

Coffee Cat Mama: Episode 1-4 “It gets better.”

 photo Coffee04-45.jpg

These three are the highlights of this drama! It’s a lovely setup that they’re housemates because I can’t get enough of their grumbling bromance. If you have watched and dropped this series after episode 1, I highly suggest you give it a second chance because the speed picked up significantly in episode 3 and 4 when all of our players are in the picture and gathered in one place. The cast is an excellent ensemble of capable actors, and the story might float on mundane happenings of daily life, is still highly entertaining with heartful moments scattered throughout the scenes.

Return of the Silver Tongue: Episode 5-9 “Romance in the air.”

 photo Silver06-1.jpg

Chun Chun is a hoot to watch. Such a witty and sharp female character that I could watch all day. Definitely a challenging role to play with Kristal’s recent confession about memorizing the scripts during her sleep because her lines come in paragraphs. Ha. Kristal is fabulous in this role, her every gesture, expression, and behavior are in sync to bring out the whole of Chun Chun. Is it weird that I find her cute in every scene? So it’s not surprising how I’m not the only one looking at her fondly.

Return of the Silver Tongue: Episode 1-4 “Sassy heroine!”

How’s this to capture your interest?

I wonder if this is all planned. After Kristal bagged home the Best Actress Award a week ago, her drama Return of the Silver Tongue immediately premiered. Not only is she the female lead, she also sings the theme song with adorable actor, Fred Cheng, who has been basked in the limelight for his participation in The Voice of the Stars. It’s an entertaining series so far with Kristal anchoring my interest in her vibrant, saucy performance.

HKTV’s Vampire Drama: Still Have Time To Love You

 photo SHTLY19.jpg

I guess if you’re a vampire, that’s a romantic line to start the first date.

So I went snooping around TVB forum and caught sight of this upcoming series, Still Have Time To Love You (還來得及再愛你) produced by TVB’s to-be rival network, HKTV. I was nodding my head until I read: Inspired by Twilight. LORDY. Stop right there. Hong Kong has great movies and dramas about vampires (remember those jumping ones? C’mon, join my old ship) so I have no idea why they must use teeny bopper Twilight as a source of inspiration. Except, we don’t have werewolves in here. The great thing is it’s billed for 10 episodes and promises to be sweet. About time someone kicks Tvb in the nuts and tell them to produce quality over quantity.

Guess who plays the ancient vampire with a jaded heart?

Triumph in the Skies 2: Episode 16 – 20 “Not meant to be.”

 photo Flyy18-28.jpg
You see the blue sign? How fitting, isn’t it?

This set of episodes are uneven in emotions. Most intense scenes take place in the first three episodes and the last two flake out, adding more irrelevant characters to a cast that is already too big. I do not care about Bee, Flowers, Apple, and Pink Pink, OKAY? Can we just skip their sob stories and insert some flight emergency/action? We haven’t had any major accidents in the sequel! If last week’s theme was reunion, this week is breakups. These are mature breakups, not noble idiocy that we see so many times in Kdramas. They break up for the same reasons they got together. Isn’t that an interesting concept to mull over?
