Drama-Binging: What Are You Watching? (16)

I was reading the conversation in the cbox and I thought it’s time for another installment of what are you guys watching? You guys won’t believe what I’m watching at the moment; nothing new, but an old TVB series called Country Spirit with Charmaine Sheh, Gordan Lam, and Sheren Tang. Actually, my mom was watching the dvd and the themesong caught my attention…. of course it was sung by Jacky Cheung and Kit Chan and you know I love him. I love all of his TVB themesongs. This is probably one of my favorite roles that Charmaine played. Her romance with Gordon got me by the heart and I’m getting to the angst parts! There was no rich prince/CEO to save the day, there was no rich handbags for a poor character, there was no love at first sight, there was no excessive make-up. And I just love how they are slowly attracted to each other because deep down they are good and kind people and the love they have for their family members planted the seed of love.

Someone once told me that you slowly become the person you love and this is the perfect exhibition of that quote. She’s stubborn, resolute, and persevering, pushing him to think better of himself and work harder despite the constant obstacles (no overnight success here!!) While his self-sacrificing attitude towards love also rubs off on her…. She runs allllll the way home to fetch his gloves and runs allllll the way back to give them to him. But when he asks, she says someone else brought them… Aigoooo, my heart…. it’s the little things they do for each other that trump the grand gestures with little meaning in today’s dramaland. You get what I mean? I hope it’s a happy ending, I don’t remember anymore….

Drama-Binging: What Are You Watching? (15)

For the past two weeks, I was rewatching a Korean series which finished airing in 2006, the whopping 85 episodes of Dear Heaven. Lol. I know! I had lost my mind to rewatch something so long but I promised you the forward button was handy 40+ episodes of it. XD What I really enjoyed about the romance in this series, which is missing in a lot of series these days is the whole developing and evolving of feelings – from the attraction stage, to the slowly getting to you know stage. It was genuine, sweet, and magnetic to see their feelings for each other grow and latch on securely despite the opposition from their families. I love watching how two people fall in love with each other; love-at-first-sight is not my cup of tea!

Wang Mo is the perfect hubby!! <3

Drama-Binging: What Are You Watching? (12)

Somehow, I can’t keep up with this drama-binging post, trying to make it bi-weekly but it always comes around as monthly. Lol. With august almost over, we are officially stepping out of the “hot summer” drama period and entering the cooling phase of the year. I finished Seven Day Queen as well; first Korean drama I finished this year! I put it off for like a whole month because I didn’t want to see such a well-acted, well-written, and well-directed drama come to an end. The last episode was beautiful, everyone has their deserved ending, especially the three main characters; they recognized their shortcomings and situation and did what was best – true to their characters and in line with the plot development. Props to Park Min Young‘s character because she made me realize that a badass heroine is not about wielding a sword; she fought with every fiber of her being, she took control of her fate, deciding every step of the way how she wanted to live her life.

The seamless transition between the three phases of our OTP undid me because it symbolizes their bittersweet relationship and how their strong commitment to each other transcends time and keeps them motivated to live until they are reunited.

What can I say…. I will binge-watch Princess Agents at the end. Lol. The other show I’m watching is Seven Day Queen, and while both shows are tragic, one is tragically messy (PA) the other is tragically compelling (7DQ), but of course, I’m in the minority with PA’s 35 Billion views+. LOL. I still can’t believe they did that to poor Seo No!! It was fitting but so unexpected for me. I thought he would last longer or at least be the one to stay with Chae Kyung after she’s deposed!

So what are you guys watching? Maybe I need some fluffy romance or just simply something unique!
