Zhou Dong Yu and Lu Han up for movie adaptation of The Youthful You Who Was So Beautiful

Sigh, how come Monday to friday takes so long but Friday to Monday goes by in a flash? My weekend is over and all I did was sleep. Lol. What’s worst is I also lose one hour today! BAHHHHH. But anyway, I digress from the main topic at hand, which is Zhou Dong Yu and Lu Han being rumored for the upcoming film adaptation of Jiu Yue Xi’s novel The Youthful You Who Was So Beautiful. It’s described as a dark novel with bullying as the center theme, how teens react to bullying and ignore the bullied. Our stuttered female lead witnesses the bullying of a popular classmate and clams up in fear of being the next target. The bullied girl decides to commit suicide and the investigation forces our heroine to re-evaluate her stance in the vicious cycle and she builds up the courage to expose the truth. However, with courage comes the wrath of the bullies and our female lead seeks the protection from another brave youngster – our male lead. I can see Zhou Dong Yu nailing her role but pretty Lu Han as the protector is an interesting visual…. he’s just too pretty! xD The production is from the same team behind the successful movie Soul Mate which earned both Zhou Dong Yu and Sandra Ma the title of Best Actress at the 53rd Golden Horse Film Awards. Solid work credits!

Shawn Dou and Dilraba pair up for movie Legend of Sun and Moon

Oh my….what a beautiful couple. My Mr. Sunshine is back to the big screen! Shawn Dou will team up with Dilraba Dilmurat for Legend of Sun and Moon (日月传奇), based on a Chinese folklore (with many variations) most of us should know of if we grew up watching Chinese dramas! Sunshine will be playing Hou Yi, a god of archery descended from heaven who shot down 9 suns out of 10 to save mankind. Dilraba will be playing his wife, Chang’e, goddess of the Moon. In one popular variation, as a reward for saving mankind, our archer is given an elixir of immortality. However, he doesn’t consume the pill if his wife isn’t in it with him. However, Chang’e is forced to take the pill when an intruder tries to steal it. The lovers are then separated as Chang’e chooses the moon as her residence.

Archer boy, I’m right here! Shoot me with your arrow of love, please. <3

Movie Review: The Monkey King 3 (Cmovie, 2018)

新年快乐! Since it’s Chinese New Year’s weekend and there are actually quite a few movies playing in the theatre near me, I decided to go see The Monkey King 3. I think this was the most people I’d seen in the theatre for a Chinese movie, attesting to the popularity of this story and the actors in it. It stars Feng Shaofeng (“The Starry Night, The Starry Sea”) and Zhao Liying (“Princess Agents”) and continues the story of the monk and his disciples traveling West.

Movie Review: Till the End of the World (Cmovie, 2018)

For the Mark Zhao (“Ten Miles of Peach Blossom”) fans out there, you definitely must check out this movie. Or if you just love really well told stories of adventure and survival, this is a must see. It’s a visually stunning movie about two people who survive a plane crash in the Antarctic and must figure out how to find help in time. It’s a beautifully told story and, so far, one of the best Chinese movies I’ve seen.

Dilraba Dilmurat and Vengo Gao reunite in Three Lives Three Worlds The Pillow Book

Wow. I’m still in shock! They actually managed to keep these two in the drama adaptation of Three Lives Three Worlds The Pillow Book, another story in Three Lives Three Worlds universe. Amazing feat! Book 2 in Tang Qi’s Three Lives Three Worlds series is The Pillow Case, a dedicated love story between Bai Feng Jiu (Bai Qian’s niece, played by Dilraba) and Dong Hua Dijun (played by Vengo Gao). If you have watched Yang Mi’s Eternal Love, you’ll remember these two characters in there as well. In other news, the quick transcript has been approved for a drama adaptation (this one) and a 2-part movie adaptations (likely different casting for drama and movie versions).

Are you happy these two are re-uniting or are you in the camp of new faces?
