Zhao Li Ying’s first character poster for The Story of Ming Lan

There we go. She wrapped up Ding Mo’s Our Glamorous Times aka You and Me In Time and dived right into The Story of Ming Lan shortly after. I dislike when there’s no break in between projects! For me it’s just a healthy practice to have a relief period to remove remnants of previous (acting) lives. Lol. So dramatic, Kap. Okie, okie. Of the three leads, she’s the last to join. I’m not in love with her character style yet since it’s only a simple poster but I’m so glad she isn’t stuck with straight, blunt bangs because those bangs on Sun Li in Nothing Gold Can Stay drove me batty. XD In happier news, remember Yan Xun’s bodyguard in Princess Agents (actor Wang Zi Jie)? He’s listed for a role in here as well. Fans think he might play her little brother. If you’re wondering: he, along with Jin Han, is under ZLY studio, hence the promotion in dramas and CF. 😉

Zhao Li Ying’s period drama The Story of Ming Lan begins filming

Grandma looks so happy! ^_^

And here we go! Zhao Li Ying‘s upcoming period drama has an official English name: The Story of Ming Lan (庶女明兰传), based on the novel written by Guan Xin Ze Luan. It kicks off filming today but the three main leads, Li Ying, Feng Shao Feng, and Zhu Yi Long were not there, all busy completing their other dramas is my guess, heh. The story follows our heroine through her youth, into her adulthood, and well into her marriage life as well. She’s the 6th child of the Sheng household. Though she is an intelligent and beautiful child, she was not loved by her family (her dad, her sisters, her mom dies early.) She has to hide her intelligence and suffers through the years, hoping to avenge for her mom. During this process she will meet many friends and foes, one of which is our male lead, Gu’s second son, Gu Ting Ye. He has helped and mistreated her before, but also the one to witness her sharp wits and lonely soul. After they get married, they will work together as a power couple, managing the new King’s regime as well as harvesting a world of happiness on their own.

To be honest, I’m a little anxious about this drama…. mainly because her story sounds like a slow-burn type of drama; would it be engaging throughout 70 episodes? It is produced by Hou Hong Liang, the man behind many acclaimed series such as Nirvana in Fire, Ode To Joy, Disguiser, etc so I’m less ill about the whole thing. I think PA burned me really well ~ Instead of excited about Li Ying’s drama, I’m drowning in sorrow. LOL.

Drama The Legend of the Concubine’s Daughter Ming Lan reveals supporting cast; Zhu Yi Long, Cao Cui Fen

Well, well, well! We finally have the supporting cast list for Zhao Li Ying‘s next period drama, The Legend of the Concubine’s Daughter Ming Lan (庶女明兰传) written by Guan Xin Ze Luan, which previously confirmed Li Ying and Feng Shao Feng as the main leads. We only have one more month before the production kicks off somewhere in September and Li Ying will hopefully have finished up Our Glamorous Time by then.

I haven’t started this novel….not sure whether starting it is a good idea. Lol.
