Zhao Lu Si is unstoppable! Her new drama just started airing and here she is filming a new one. Lol. A Female Student Arrives at the Imperial College (国子监来了个女弟子) is adapted from the novel written by Hua Qian Ci and follows our female lead – daughter of a high-ranking official as she accepts a bet to make the most popular young master (our male lead – Xu Kai Cheng) in town to accept her invitation to the the lantern festival. If she loses, she’s to become a performer during the festival. What she thinks is an easy task turns out to be much more challenging. She is turned away each time she tries to visit the Yan’s manor. With her father’s insistence, the Emperor grants her permission to become the first female disciple of the Imperial College, where our male lead is currently attending. She, along with her childhood best friend (played by Ren Hao), set out to turn the prestigious academy upside down.

Mo Bao Fei Bao’s Forever And Ever (Beautiful Bones) confirms Ren Jia Lun and Bai Lu as leads
One Life, One Reincarnation – Beautiful Bones (一生一世美人骨) is the next Mo Bao Fei Bao’s novel to be adapted! Confirmed leads who attended the booting ceremony just a few hours ago were Ren Jia Lun and Bai Lu. Beautiful bones here refer to the person’s inner beauty as opposed to beauty that is outside – on the skin. The drama will have two parts, one sets in the ancient times, and another in the modern world as both of our leads reincarnated a thousand years later. In their previous lives, their love story ended tragically, and when given a second chance in a new world, what will happen to them? Our male lead doesn’t have memories of the past life, but our female lead does retain the feelings and memories. Oy! She recognizes him the moment they meet again and will chase after him despite the changes and challenges ahead.
The novel can be read here. Feel free to give me more backgrounds on our leads novel readers!
Gulinazha and Xu Wei Zhou confirmed for historical drama Da Tang Ming Yue
Fan-made
Da Tang Ming Yue (大唐明月) is an upcoming historical drama based on the novel written by Lan Yun Shu. And I want to add “loosely” because they basically just borrowed the names of some people in history. A lot of things were changed – such as our heroine time-traveling into the past, her career, etc. Xu Wei Zhou plays a character in the Tang dynasty, General Pei Xing Yan, known for his superior fighting skills. Gulinazha plays daughter of the female officer in the royal tailoring department who is forecasted to not do well with needles and thread. When she was five, her mother dies and she wakes up with no memory after an accident. She’s then taken in by her mother’s good friend and groomed to be a royal consort. Her mom’s wish was for her to escape the palace and live a peaceful life, and after a meeting with the great general Pei, she also yearns for a life outside of the walls. But her talents in making clothes attracts good and bad attention, allowing General Pei to jump and rescue her multiple times. They later find out the culprit behind all her misfortunes is done by the same woman who took her in.
The two look pretty cute together at the filming ceremony. While Gulinazha is a frequenter of ancient series, this is a first for Xu Wei Zhou.
Song of Youth: Female-centric drama with Bai Lu, Jin Chen, and Wang Yi Zhe begins filming
Yumama is back and this time, he decided to go historical comedy drama. Song of Youth (玉楼春) is a female-centric drama led by Bai Lu, alongside with Jin Chen, Zheng Qiu Hong, Huang Xin Yao, and special guest appearances in Yang Rong, Qiao Xin, and more to be announced. The story takes place during the Ming Dynasty and Bai Lu plays a miss from an official family. Her father is accused of corruption and she becomes a fallen miss after he’s executed. To make a living, she begins learning drama at a local street performance house (?), where she meets a rich grandson played by Wang Yi Zhe. He, of course, falls in love at first sight with her. And to clear her dad’s name, she disguises as a male to take the imperial test (?) But because she’s a female, she naturally fails the section where they examine your body…. But no worries, her rich admirer sneaks in to help and clear her father’s name. Once his family gets a wind of her identity/status, they try to break up the two. He doesn’t give up while she works hard on improving herself, and within a year, is able to become the top female merchant in the country. She then decides to marry into Wang Yi Zhe’s family when they are struggling. She helps stabilize the family and business, only to find out that her father-in-law is the man behind her dad’s demise and he is the one deep in corruption. Clear-headed and fair, our heroine chooses justice in the end. What do they called that? 大義滅親!
And that’s it. The synopsis reveals the whole drama. xD
Filming Begins: Zhu Yi Long’s The Rebel, Dylan Wang and Zhu Xu Dan’s Yu Long
Drama adaptation of Chang Ge Xing confirms Dilireba, Wu Lei, and Zhao Lu Si
Hmmm, I don’t know what to say about this casting choice. It’s a beautiful group of people for sure but Wu Lei romancing Dilireba is a little odd. Lol. Well, filming has just begun for those interested. The original male lead is Qu Chu Xiao who had to bow out due to management issue. Chang Ge Xing aka Song of the Long March (長歌行) is adapted from the manhua of the same name written by Xia Da. It follows our heroine, who’s a princess on the run. Her father is Crown Prince Li but after the new Emperor ascended the throne, he ordered his brothers and families put to death. She escapes, fakes her own death, disguises herself as a male and plots her revenge against the new Emperor, becoming a fierce military leader in the process. The manhua is highly rated among fans and has solid rating of 9 on douban. Readers also poured their hearts out for the arts as well.
I’m reading reviews and our heroine sounds awesome – merciless and highly intelligent. Since she was young, she was trained in martial arts and battle strategies, so she holds her own in a fight. I always have hopes in the novel description and the drama adaptation hasn’t been accurate …..at all in recent years. Lol. I really do hope she kicks A$$!! Our male protagonist is no less of a worthy character – he’s the adopted son of Jieli Khan, a leader of his own army, who is known for his ruthlessness and doing things his ways in the beginning. He slowly melts that attitude and begins to realize how his actions could affect those around him after meeting our leading lady. But he doesn’t know SHE is a SHE for a little bit. HEH.
Gosh, gosh. Baby Wu Lei needs a few years to really execute that general look. xD
Filming begins: Li Qian’s Dear Uniform, Zhang He’s Bu Yun Qu, Yin Tao’s Astringent Girl, Xing Fei’s My Small Indeed Fortunate
More dramas begin filming!
Filming begins for Bai Lu’s Love is Sweet, Yang Mi’s Thank-You Doctor, Zhang Yu Xi’s Intense Love, and Hu Bing Qing’s Insect Totem
