Dear Uniform (亲爱的戎装) is a modern drama adapted from the novel written by Zhe Zhi Ma Yi, so it’s not a remake of hit Korean TV series, Descendants of the Sun. It stars Huang Jing Yu as a military officer describes like an ice mountain and Li Qin plays a gentle military medic. Our male lead doesn’t care about romance or anything else and is basically 100% driven by work. Our female lead has been hurt by love before and she’s the pearl in her parents’ hands (they’re wealthy, and she doesn’t want others to be affected by her status). But she can stand on her own (whew). However, her decision to be a doctor in the military angers her dad and he refuses to acknowledge her for a short period. Mom is the softer one and helps her out with one “last favor” by asking her friend for help on finding a living place. Turns out, the friend lets our heroine move into the house where her son stays when he’s not living in the military dorms. Hehe. The mothers totally planted this seed! How did they meet? She’s showering (in his fancy bathroom!) when she hears the door creaks. And that is their first impression. HEHE. They begin to get close when she has a bad night after bumping into her ex-boyfriend and our hero agrees to be her ears for the night. Soon, she ends up saving one of his comrades, and our male lead begins to look at our gentle, sunny doctor in a new light. Their love story is described as gentle but does not lack sweetness and passion. From reviews, the second male lead is equally if not more complex than our male lead, given his circumstance and situation. Ohhhh. I shouldn’t spoil all the fun right? Ok.
Huang Jing Yu is probably one of the few actors who looks like he can pack a punch in our batch of oh-so-pretty young actors. I’m excited for this collaboration!
