Ren Jia Lun and Bai Lu frolic in the snow for First Stills of Forever And Ever (Beautiful Bones)

One Life, One Reincarnation – Beautiful Bones (一生一世美人骨) is adapted from Mo Bao Fei Bao’s novel starring Ren Jia Lun and Bai Lu. Beautiful bones here refer to the person’s inner beauty as opposed to beauty that is outside – on the skin. The drama will have two parts, one sets in the ancient times, and another in the modern world as both of our leads reincarnated a thousand years later. In their previous lives, their love story ended tragically, and when given a second chance in a new world, what will happen to them? Our male lead doesn’t have memories of the past life, but our female lead does retain the feelings and memories. Oy! She recognizes him the moment they meet again and will chase after him despite the changes and challenges ahead.

Can’t wait to see them in their ancient costumes. Find the translated novel at hui3r’s website. Enjoy!

One Life, One Reincarnation – Beautiful Bones (一生一世美人骨) is the next Mo Bao Fei Bao’s novel to be adapted! Confirmed leads who attended the booting ceremony just a few hours ago were Ren Jia Lun and Bai Lu. Douban’s Top Rated Chinese Romance Novels and their Adaptations

 photo dtrbh.png

In the last few years, I’ve gone through several drama droughts, where I wasn’t interested in any of the dramas coming out. As the popularity of IP adaptations continued to surge and seeing the more light-hearted comedies released, I decided it was time to venture into the source medium.

However, where to start was always puzzling and how should I prioritise this growing list of Chinese novels I accumulated? I’m not sure if I’m alone in this, but after a while I became overwhelmed and now those books on my TBR list just sit there, whilst I find other novels to read. I normally visit Douban when I want to find a new novel to read, but Douban has three ways of arranging their novels; their comprehensive arrangement (whatever that may mean), arrange by date or arrange by rating. As the ratings lover that I am, here is a list of highest rated romance novels on Douban.

Are you ready for Go Go Squid with Li Xian and Yang Zi this July?

Go Go Squid or Stewed Squid With Honey (蜜汁炖鱿鱼) is a sweet novel written by Mo Bao Fei Bao. On the other hand, the story doesn’t seem up to their acting caliber, described as a gentle and an easy read, some comments even go as far as saying it’s forgettable after a hearty laugh, but likable characters and setups. The heroine is described as a genius 19-year old student with high IQ and low EQ, who is also a famous anime cosplay person and sings well. She’s struck by love at first sight with the male lead, who is a game genius in the e-sports world and never pays attention to the girls.

Go Go Squid begins airing on July 9th!

Li Xian and Yang Zi confirm drama Go Go Squid (Stewed Squid With Honey)

YAY! Both of them have been in ancient dramaland for a while now so I welcome them back to the modern world. But I did hope it was with a different storyline. Hu Yi Tian and Janice Wu were rumored for this project for a while but today the production has just confirmed the leads to be Li Xian (Tientsin Mystic) and Yang Zi (Heavy Sweetness Ash-like Frost). I feel like these types of story could be given to rookie actors while these two could go for more challenging roles. Who knows, maybe they need a break?

My Story For You: Zheng Shuang goes through thick and thin with Luo Jin

The first official trailer is dropped and My Story For You with Zheng Shuang and Luo Jin feels very different from your usual overly dramatic Chinese modern dramas. It’s hard for me to stomach 90% of modern Cdramas or should I say the mainstream ones with popular actors and actresses. It tends to drag on for a thousand of dog-blood years before reaching an abrupt end. Lol. Maybe because it’s based on a writer’s personal love story with his wife, so he was able to work with the team to create the atmosphere he wanted. I do like what I see ~
