If you told me Liu Yu Ning walked from the set of The Prisoner of Beauty to A Dream Within A Dream, I would believe you. Lol. I was watching episode 1 and the opening scene is so outlandish and hilarious, I thought to give you guys a peek at the ensuing chaos in case you didn’t plan on checking it out. 6 episodes are out and the drama doesn’t stop airing until the end.
The scene begins with a wedding reception down the village and we all know the law of dramaland by now yes? When you start with a wedding, someone is gonna die, or maybe both. Hold that thought.
The bride and our female lead is Song Yi Meng, the Minister of War’s daughter. She appears happy in the carriage. That’s good, that’s good.
The male lead and groom is Nan Heng, the seventh prince. And he looks suspicious of his surrounding, expecting someone to appear before it’s too late.
Lol, Wei Liang General from The Prisoner of Beauty is busy escorting Yu Ning to another wedding. XD
And of course that person is Chu Gui Hong, Junior General of Qian Yu Army. He appears angry and spits out, “You killed my father and stole my bride. I’m here to kill you, monster!”
Our male lead descends from his horse in one smooth motion like a peacock read to dance.
Yi Meng rushes out of the carriage and tells Gui Hong to stop this madness as she has already made her choice! She doesn’t even care if the hero is murderous or a fiend, she’ll make the choice over and over again! Gasp, girl, are you sure about this?
Being sidelined on his wedding day is not on his plan today so Nan Heng barks at their PDA and Yi Meng rushes to this side, holds his hand, and explains that he’s misunderstood, he’s the one she’s deeply in love with.
Oh really? He lifts up her chin and whispers evilly, “Then prove it to me.”
Enraged by the display of intimacy, our second male lead screams at Nan Heng to let her go and rushes forward.
But our female lead pushes Nan Heng out of the way and steals his sword…. to stab Gui Hong in the belly! He’s shocked by the betrayal and she apologizes for failing him in this lifetime, promising to make it up in another life.
Then she gets stabbed by our male lead. Cue her pi-ka-chu face at his betrayal while he’s like What?? “Didn’t you say you’d do anything for me?”
Then our male lead gets stabbed by second male lead. Gui Hong: “If you hurt her, you die!” Um, excuse me sir, but if looks like death likes the three of you together.
Seeing how her today-only-husband is stabbed, Yi Meng stabs her sword in further at Gui Hong, “If you hurt him, you die!” LOL.
Male lead somehow thinks it’s a game now and returns the favor with a deeper stab into her belly too.
Nan Heng: Today, we all die!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
And now they spin in circle for an eternity. 💀
True to Liu Yu Ning’s trend in dramas, he doesn’t make it. Yet again.

I am enjoying this but I do wish the FL would question ML’s characterisation in what she knows as the ‘script’. She keeps repeating the same lines when describing him, and after 15 episodes it is getting old. I don’t want to wait another 10 episodes for her to discover what he’s really like. LYN is doing really well here. Also shout-out to his makeup artist, his smoky eye make up is nice 🙂
I read a comment about how LYT resembles Bai Lu, and now I can’t unsee it haha

Definitely agreed about seeing and judging him for the him now, especially when she realizes things have already changed.
I think there was a picture/shot from a video that had us questioned our sanity for who is who between BL and LYT; good thing I adore both girls.
