The Tencent Video Annual Conference is sure a busy event, dramas are dropping trailers like flies! Will add more if I see them. But I’m at work. 😛
=======> ♦ Legend of Fei (有翡) with Zhao Li Ying and Wang Yi Bo. The two weren’t able to attend the conference. Another short teaser… I’m not sure how I feel about this.
=======> ♦ The Golden Hairpin (簪中录) with Yang Zi and Kris Wu. Trailer subbed by FANFANCLAN.
Fancam Video of their interview. I didn’t know Yang Zi shares the same birthday as Kris. …And me. Lol.
=======> ♦ Chang Ge Xing (長歌行) with Dilraba Dilmurat and Wu Lei.
Interview with the cast.
=======> ♦ The Legend of Xiao Chuo (燕云台) with Tang Yan, Shawn Dou, Charmaine Sheh, and Lu Shan. Oh three sisters! At the conference, Tang Yan confirmed she didn’t have twins, just one (lucky) baby girl. 🙂
=======> ♦ A Murderous Affair In Horizon Tower (摩天大楼) with Guo Tao and Yang Zi Shan, and a special appearance from Angelababy. It’s a drama adaptation of the novel Skyscraper written by Chen Xue.
=======> ♦ Sword Snow Stride (雪中悍刀行) with Zhang Ruo Yun and Li Geng Xi. Looking good!

Thanks Kappy, some didnt make it to the hot chart of weibo so I missed out several trailers.
Surprisingly instead of the big productions, A Murderous Affair captured my attention. An investigation drama with someone dead, but the trailer used such an upbeat kinda BG classical music lols. It’s scarily amusing.
ZRY’s Sword Snow Stride had a similar vibe too lols, is it the same team haha! When is his HuoQuBing w MXT airing? It has been on the shelf for soooo long 🙁 I thought there might be some news w ZRY and MXT’s rise in popularity…
And can I say Chang Ge Xing really needs to do a lot of convincing, because Wu Lei seriously looks so young still in the trailer and it’s odd to see him w Dilraba to convince me that they will be a couple. The script and acting has to be good to make this work out.
ZLY as good as always, nothing to say! WYB looking really natural too, nice to see him taking up a diff char from ChenQiLing.
No comment for Golden Hairpin…I don’t like Kris’s acting since a long time ago so I will wait and see.

These mostly all look pretty good. Mostly ambivalent but slightly anticipating them all.
Even with the unconvincing pairing in Chang Ge Xing, the story looks interesting and Dilraba’s character looks cool (looks to live up to the manhwa character maybe?) and separately Wu Lei’s looking good too.
SUPER excited about Sword Snow Stride of course. Production looks super slick, styling honestly looks better than JoL too lmao. Actors all super reliable, and Zhang TianAi’s character looks SO COOL???
A little conflicted but also excited about Legend of Fei. I LOVED the novel and honestly the action clips look decent, the styling looks good, and I like WYB but I was extra surprised at how well he fits Xie Yun. For ZLY, I’m ok with her styling being similar to Princess Agent, but her character is characteristically “heroine” with a high ponytail. I guess they could have put more effort to distinguish, but it doesn’t really bother me.
I do feel like ZLY doesn’t FEEL like You Fei though. She’s supposed to be aloof yeah, but she’s also really hotheaded, impulsive, smart and capable of strategic thinking but tends not to enjoy it — she quite likes charging straight in. Most ppl who see her think she looks cold but also exudes “youth” — the energy and faith and hope that comes with youth. It feels a little like ZLY no longer looks “young”, like she’s objectively incredibly young-looking physically, but something about her eyes, her mannerisms, etc… she just doesn’t feel like a girl who’s exploring jianghu for the first time with fresh wide eyes.
I mean it’s all too soon to really judge, hence why I’m still generally pretty excited for this; just a tad conflicted bc I don’t see You Fei in ZLY, but I do see Xie Yun in WYB, lmao.

Zhang RupYun looked slimmer 😂. I heard his HQB is getting shelved because censors wont let it pass..historical aspect and all

More like bunch of Huo Qubing fans (the historical figure) supposingly reported the drama due to the drama demeaning HQB or something. Similar to FBB’s Qin dynasty drama, and then FBB got hit by tax evasion lol.

Male lead in that FBB drama also was charged with rape in Australia. The production team digitally switched him out with another actor. I think the criminal case turned out in his favor. The scandals might have stalled the airing. But all the editing and changes done after the drama was pulled from the broadcast schedule, it is probably a huge mess anyway.

omg that was him? I forgot about that. The drama is cursed rip, there’s shelved dramas then there’s shelved and digitally edited and still can’t air. You are right about ethnic strife too, NRTA works in mysterious ways and often dramas will self censor to avoid trouble/too much editing that ruins drama, so people just keep guessing and you never get an answer.

I believe it’s mainly due to the rule that drama focusing on conflicts/wars between ethnic groups is now a no-no. Given current Xinjiang situation, regulators don’t want any show/movie that might incite ethnic animosity. HQB and Xiongnu should be shelved indefinitely.
The most recent Demigods and Semi-devils may air. Its historical background is also ethnic strife. When it airs, we should be able to assess how regulators enforce the rule.

Looks like Sword Snow Stride will be a fun quality drama like Joy of Life XD I am super keen!!
Chang Ge Xing looks pretty decent. I do wish the two leads were different based on the character descriptions but hopefully there is more to the drama than romantic love.
Don’t have high hopes for Legend of Fei, I am still keen since it’s ZLY’s comeback and WYB’s first wuxia drama. Just please don’t be another Princess Agents >_<
A Murderous Affair In Horizon Tower looks cool!
As for The Golden Hairpin, I think I wanna watch it. Yang Zi has good chemistry with pretty much anyone onscreen, and offscreen she keeps getting more bros haha.

Hi, guys! I am, once again, extremely late to the party. 🙂
These are the trailers of the only dramas I was actually anticipating and my first impressions from the productions are not what I expected.
I am very disappointed by Legend of Fei and, especially, by the The Golden Hairpin (I purchased the English translation of book 1 from Amazon and I liked it). I agree that the LoF looks too much like Princess Agents and the TGH is not as dark as it should be considering the story line. I have 0 faith in the leading men’s abilities and the trailers do not show much chemistry between them and the ladies.
Chang Ge Xing looks ok and Dilireba and Wu Lei look like they are much better matched. If I squint reaaally hard I might forget they both look like they stole their parents’ military armor to play dress up and enjoy the carnage. Sword Snow Stride’s trailer is the one I like the most, no complaints there.
