Love In Between (少年游之一寸相思) is based on the novel written by Zi Wei Liu Nian. Zhang Yao plays a young noble in search of a famous painting masquerading as a physician. On his journey, he meets masterful thief of disguise – our female lead, played by Zhang Ya Qin. She is in disguise because she’s burdened with saving her Shifu and is manipulated by a man in exchange for info about valuable medicines. When people want to attack her in jianghu, our male lead jumps in to help and gets entangled in the drama of the jianghu as well as the drama of court politics.
Airing today 6/8!

Seen the first 8 eps. Very watchable so far with good pacing. The cast are decent, good job for the casting director for picking relatively unknown yet quite talented young actors/actresses. Unique OTP with the lady being the no-nonsense single-minded martial artist and the male lead is physically weak yet smart, ‘oily’ kind of guy. I guess 2020 is really the year of oily male leads lol. Their respective backstories are also interesting. The rest of the characters are likable. No one is acting nonsensically stupid for plot-sake at least not yet. The court politics is not NiF/JoL/TRoP/TAA level but serviceable as plot driver. The jianghu elements are kinda in the background. The action scenes suck-ass lol, too much camera tricks and barely any real martial art moves.

Thanks for sharing Pong! I agree, I like that they gave new faces a chance to lead, kinda reminds me of the golden days of TVB where new actors got a chance to shine too.

Seen up to ep 12. What is this? With such unknown cast, unknown source material, and no fanfare, this drama really has no business being this watchable lol. The central plot moved from court politics to jianghu, and while I don’t have any comparison since I don’t watch many wuxia, I like that the characters both heroes and villains are not simple and the plot doesn’t drag. I also noticed that quality of action scenes varies among the characters, probably depend on each actors’ ability.
@Kappy, the young cast did fairly well and I have no major complaint, though I also admit that they lack certain gravitas more experienced actors would probably have. At the very least, evidently Zhou Ting Wei is the best actor in the show so far, and he’s indeed the one who has the most experience.

I’m watching it raw despite not speaking Mandarin, and relying on synopsis, as well as comments on various forums. It’s very enjoyable so far, the young actors deliver (as I had expected!), cinematography done well, although the fighting scenes are not exceptional.
Plus point in the styling: they actually attempt to make the female lead believably crossdresses, not with the still-feminine looking make up or hilariously obviously fake mustache, but with stubble and gritty attire.
It’s not rated yet on Douban, but if you read the comments, you’ll find mostly praises and 4-5 stars. Fingers crossed it will continue to be this good!

Do you know the name of the actor for ghost doctor?

Ghost doctor? Do you mean Zuo Qingci’s shifu? If so, it’s Huang Haibing.

I think the person is asking for Gui Shenyi.
Huang Haibing is playing Su Yunluo’s teacher, Su Xuan

This drama is so good! I like the tone and cinematography. The music too, feels very wuxia. The story is also tight and fast-paced, and romance not at all draggy (unlike And The Winner is Love, which I am very tempted to drop but it’s Luo Yunxi’s first drama as a lead)
It’s a pity its not receiving much attention, probably due to the newbie cast?
I have trouble getting my own friends to watch it as they are not impressed by the visuals of the leads.

This series is the dark horse of the season.
It’s like the wuxia version of Nirvana in Fire.
The story is really good and the characters are well developed.
Relatively fast pace, beautiful cinematography and music.
New actors, but good solid acting. Bonus points for original voices!
Definitely one of the best period dramas I’ve seen so far this year.
