Luo Jin and Li Yi Tong struggle between duty and love in Royal Nirvana

Looks like this could be a decent drama? Luo Jin leads the Royal Nirvana as the Crown Prince whose merits are deemed as a threat to the current King and he struggles to be a dutiful son and crown prince at the same time. On the other hand, the king’s illegitimate son played by Jin Han furtively plants traps to dislodge his brother off the royal chair. In one of his schemes, he frames his brother for the death of an official, setting official’s daughter (Li Yi Tong) on a path of vengeance against his brother.

EDIT: Such a quiet premiere (thanks Lenje!), it started airing on 11/11, 3 new episodes every Monday and Thursday.

I think Li Yi Tong must have bought the wrong coffee for her make-up artist because she looks very ghostly in here. And when she does have make-up, she still doesn’t look right. Lol. Poor girl.

Jin Han as another villain. Hehe.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Can’t wait for this to air! Although, tbvh, the plot sound ridiculously similar to Rise of the Phoenixes. But the chemistry is great, production looks high, I love the tones. And the line up!

Just finished the first two episodes and they were intense. We only got a few minutes of Li Yi Tong for now but looking forward to see how she’ll be entangled with the political mess that is already brewing inside the palace.

So happy to see Zheng Yecheng again! He has such a baby face so it’s kind of hard to take him as Luo Jin’s older cousin though lol.

Finished the first 5 episodes and I’m interested to continue. It’s very political heavy. But the production does a really good job with camerawork and shots which makes it nice to look at even if the clothing and sets are generally on the more plain side.
Li Yi Tong does look really pale now that you point it out. There was something off that I could quite pin point. I think her makeup artist used a shade too light or should have given her face more dimension and colour with more blush.

I discovered this treasure on YT yesterday. I watched ep 1, and was very impressed with the production quality. It felt like the caliber of Nirvana in Fire. I recognized Jin Han (with his sexy eyebrows), and he became the third incentive to watch this drama. Luo Jin looked ten years younger. Li Yi Tong looked mature.

    Music comment:
The BGM is suited for an grand scale epic theatrical movie, and not a small screen multi-episode drama. I love Asian drum incidental music in any movie or drama genre, btw. The BGM is very good, but it is stifling the palace scenes and the dialogs. They need to turn off the music, so we can appreciate the acting performances and the visual aspect, that include set designs and costumes, directing and editing…please do your job right, Mr Editor.
