Novoland: Eagle Flag confirms broadcasting date in June

The date June 3rd has been floating around for a while now among bloggers, but I only trust it when the production weibo stamps it on their posters (even then, things could go awry). Next monday, folks!

I really like the poster!

Novoland: Eagle Flag (九州缥缈录) is the next drama set in the vast magical universe “Novoland”. The author, Jiang Nan, along with Jin He Zai (Tribes), is one of the original writers who created the universe and he has been working on the drama script with another person. Eagle Flag follows the epic, sweeping story of three youths who find comfort in each other’s company during the vicissitudes of life and intense power struggles, with Hao Ran playing a weak and sickly prince who is sent away….as a hostage in another land, where he meets a brave and untamed warrior (Chen Ruo Xuan) and a witty princess (Zu Er). Their story of struggle, growth, love, and friendship unleash into a heroic journey of sorts.

Solid, solid cast.

Ugh I’m so excited! The cast is 100% solid like you say Kappy and I’m sure the production details will be too. Now we just gotta see if the script good and all will be hallelujah!

Finally, something to look forward to. The only thing I watched after Ever Night, Detective L, had good actors and an outstanding props/costume department (the sets were limited by their budget), but the cases were weak and once again, it just fizzled out and had a lackluster ending.

Please just be better than Tribes and Empires, Eagle Flag, so I won’t have to drop you…

First basic thing it has to have to beat tribes and empire is an actual ending =.=

I want to see Novoland, just for the awesome cast alone!
    The costumes also look good

I’m pumped! I’m not even worried if this is less then expected (or rather, hoped). I’ve been through T & E and Princess Agents, so coping with editing issues or constant flashbacks should be a piece of cake LOL. At least I got to see the pretties and the great supporting cast!

I finally found and watched some trailers. This seems to contain little or no fantastical component and mostly human geopolitical conflicts and palace intrigues. I will probably need a lot of spoilers before I dip my toes in this one.

The trailers didn’t showcase fantasy elements because the producers wanted to showcase the characters to attract viewers. This was mentioned during an interview by the CEO of the production company (Linmon Pictures):

“The first official trailer did not attempt to introduce the vast world of Novoland – instead, it went straight to the heart of the story to draw in viewers. The production team spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to condense the grand scale of the original books into a story that would make sense and appeal to the general audience.”

One of the protagonists, Yu Ran, is from the Winged Tribe (tribe of winged humanoids) so there definitely will be fantasy elements in this drama. In the interview, the producers also mentioned putting a lot of work into the production (especially the script) to avoid a repeat of the Tribes & Empires mess. I think viewers and fans are in for a treat here.

Do I need to watch T&E to watch this? It’s not a sequel right….I don’t think I can sit through 90 episodes for another drama

Looks like a story independent from T&E. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that Novoland’s original creator opened up the copyright to any writer who wanted to use its concepts and elements (don’t know about specific characters) to write other Novoland stories. There might or might not be relations between Novoland stories.

I saw a comment from someone who were reading the books & saw the episode previews that the production team basically summarised book 1 in 1 episode! I guess that means we have hope of them actually finishing the production unlike tribes and empire and princess agents. The cast, set designs, and production quality already got me pumped up. Crossing fingers that it won’t disappoint
