Booting Ceremony 4/13:
Playing Anna (hero’s girlfriend), is Fu Jing, from Chinese girl group, Rocket Girls 101.
Playing Dylan (third-leg-ish) is Li Jiu Lin. What a smile you have there dude!
What’s the story about?
Chen Xin Yi (Liang Jie) is an unfashionable office lady in a law firm described as a “sticky note girl”—a person who is helpful, but unnecessary and therefore easy to throw away. Her co-workers frequently take advantage of her eager to please nature by dumping unwanted tasks onto her. She plans and pays for a trip on a romantic love cruise, hoping to lose her virginity and thus keep her boyfriend. Xin Yi is devastated when she finds her boyfriend cheating on her during the cruise and he tells her that he planned to break up with her all along. On the same cruise is Ji Cun Xi (Xing Zhao Lin), the wealthy sole heir of a soap and cleaning products company. He had planned to propose to long-time girlfriend Anna (Fu Jing) during the trip, but is unaware that she has stood him up for the 11th time and never boarded the cruise. Anna is a professional ballet dancer and chose a main role in a world tour over Cun Xi.
In a huge mix-up involving drugs, a third party blackmail plot, and carelessness, Xin Yi and Cun Xi end up spending the night together and have sex, only in the morning realizing the mistake. [WIKI]
I will never forget the hilarious sex scene from the original. Noisy trains and airplanes in between the cuts. PFFFFTTT!

The Thai version – You’re My Destiny (2017) – with Bie and Esther is a fabulous version of this. Her family is particularly well acted and the ML’s illness is better explained. I think you can find it on Youtube or on Daily Motion. For me, it is the best of the remakes. It is a an older kind of Cinderella storyline, though.

Personally I still think the og TW version is the classic. I’ll admit, I also have never managed a FULL start to finish watch of the drama (and barely looked at the Thai and Korean remakes). But I do find myself going back to watch certain episodes of Fated to Love You, even to this day. In fact I think I rewatched part of it just a couple of months ago. I think it’s so classic bc the chemistry imo was fantastic and I think the emotions and feels were incredibly genuine. I also think this is probably some of CQE’s best works. Can’t explain why in terms of technique, but she across really real and raw to me. (I honestly never really watch/rewatch her post-transformation scenes tho mostly cuz sometimes I can’t help but feel like Ji CunXi is a douche and I both want them to get together but also totally couldn’t care less about him). I also still think Ethan’s Ji CunXi was the most down-to-earth and realistic. He was a total jerk sometimes but also really just clueless and dumb and tries really hard and ends up making me love him a little too at times. Pretty realistic flawed guy honestly. His story/background itself doesn’t really make me feel like “oh i should sympathize cuz he’s misunderstood” but more like sometimes the habits he has/things he says makes me feel like yeah he’s pretty shitty sometimes but he does try and realize his problems quickly. I think it’s his earnest personality that hits home despite him honestly sometimes making waaaaay too many dumb mistakes to be excusable anymore.

Honestly, what I meant to conclude is, I really don’t think this needs a remake. I think what made the TW version such a hit for me was a combination of the storytelling, directing, music, acting, the cast. All these factors that came together and worked really well that originated because of the awesome work by the whole crew. Do I think the story itself is all that great…honestly not at all, so I can’t see how it can be made any better. (or even just good, but honestly plotwise it’s very tropey and considering how bad modern romance has been as a genre for China — this remake honestly doesn’t bear anticipating). Even if the cast does well, I don’t trust that it’ll be a good production overall? Sorry, maybe I’m overly cynical.

And the c-version will be very bloated.

I haven’t heard of anything. He’s a busy bee, filming left and right. Don’t worry about him too much. =)
