How do I feel about this trailer… how do I feel. They used the same song (“Cant Help Falling In Love With You“) from the previous adaptation for nostalgic reasons but the feel is definitely different. More youthful, more animated, more vibrant. What jumps out at me is that the trailer tells things from our male lead’s POV, which is a toss up; because what I loved about the previous version is being able to hear Shan Cai’s thoughts throughout the whole drama. Her thoughts were genuine, sincere, and honest, which made disliking her impossible (for me). Let’s see what the new adaptation will bring to the table ~

Hmm… As a fan, well, big fan of HYD, i feel this one is missing something… But i cant point out what is it. Acting? Chemistry? Or a story i used to remember. But well, we cant judge from the trailer. So many dramas with good trailers but ended up as meh dramas. I hope, this one will be good. Cuz while waiting for this, im currently watching hana nochi hare and it’s soooo good. The lead actor is just so good.

I agree it’s missing something. Dylan’s chemistry with Shen Yue was better in the pictures.
Here, his acting is kind of cheesy. Not impressed with the other 3 either. Shen Yue is still very refreshing though

Hana Yori Dango is a wall really… I remember I was so obsessed with the drama when I was a kid and when I rewatched it when I grew older, really appreciated the great chemistry and acting skills of the 5 main cast. Same with Nodame Cantabile!

I hate dramas that air on TV require voice dubbing. Actors acting looked a lot worse when the voices are dubbed, half of their emotions are gone. I wish Chinese fans of this series can pressure the production company at least release a non dubbed version for the web. Fuck the TV.

Agreed, I feel disconnected from the trailer. They look like they are teenagers? Lol. Feels like the usual teenage drama and the dubbing makes it worst. Don’t see the chemistry between the two leads at all. O_O?
I wish they hadn’t used the same theme song to lure unsuspecting fans. You want to stand on your own two legs and instead of relying on residual feelings from the past adaptation. Disappointed so far.

As someone who has only watched a few minutes of the original Meteor Garden and a few episodes i’m going to reserve judgment until I watch the final product.
I remember the first teaser they released for this garnered mostly positive comments so I think the admittedly poor dubbing has some effect on people’s opinion of this trailer.
It seems like an overwhelming majority of people dislike how the dubbing was done for this over on Weibo. Hopefully, someone starts up a petition or something to release a non dubbed version.

What I dislike is the wardrobe and some of the dialogue. They feel like they belong in the 80s-90s and not modern and updated to today’s fashion and culture.
Even with that said, though, I like Shen Yue and she fits the role of Shan Cai 💯, so I’m still going to watch, if just for her.

Your comments about the trailer worry me because this should be Makino/Shen Cai’s story + the F4. I’ve noticed the promotion for this drama seems to be trying to push the F4 so hard and sidelining the heroine a bit. Shen Yue just came off a big hit with “A Love So Beautiful” and is great casting so I don;t know why they aren’t taking more advantage of her presence.
I’m also getting the feeling like this is the first Boys Over Flowers were I’m going to have 2nd lead syndrome. I was hoping I’d change my feelings once the trailer arrived but Dylan is still not doing anything for me.

Based on the comments, I expected this to be bad. But now I think it’s a poorly made trailer rather than the drama itself. will check it out 🙂 It’s a Hanadan adaptation after all, no way I’m missing it.

My thought exactly. The Love Knot aka Moonshine and Valentine had a really bad trailer but the drama itself is not bad. The only thing I don’t like is the dub. It’s so much nicer to hear the actors/actresses natural voices. It’s all about the delivery of the lines.

I didn’t find the dubbing affect me too much. The main guy and gal are pretty enough to watch and they did spend LOTs of money for the drama set going to different countries for the scenes. Kudos for willingly to invest so much on this drama
However, I have watched 3 different adaptions of the same story: Tawinese, Japanese & Korean.
I find it challenging for me to watch this story AGAIN with this new cast.
I only LOVE the song out of the whole trailer.
