Song Qian and Oho Ou Hao confirm drama The Moon Doesn’t Understand My Heart

Ooo. I scanned through the reviews and this novel doesn’t sound like my type. It’s so depressing and exhausting! The Moon Doesn’t Understand My Heart is a novel written by Xin Yi Wu, the author behind So You’re Still Here and So Young. This author has an inkling for separation and reunion stories doesn’t she? Wrote up a snippet of the story for those interested!

A quick review that I gleaned: The moon in the title refers to our male lead, who is/was once the most beautiful light in the heroine’s life as they sit side-by-side viewing the beautiful moon. They meet each other as kids and make some beautiful memories together, but then he’s plucked off to study in the city by his dad (this dysfunctional family). Our heroine has a tough life, abandoned by her parents, she takes over the role of caring for her two younger siblings. She’s smart, responsible, and sharp. They meet later as adults, with her always harboring him deeply in her heart, but he doesn’t share the same sentiments. When his family’s company struggles to rise, he marries her because she’s capable and he is a good husband to a certain extent. He lives for everyone but his wife because in his eyes, she’s always the stronger one, he never sees her vulnerabilities (hence the title of the novel, The Moon Doesn’t Understand My Heart). He’s weak-minded and let others dictate his life. He slumps into depression completely when his sister commits suicide after a miserable marriage to save their company. Our hero falters into the arms of another woman….. Dun dun dun. The heroine closes a blind eye until a kidnap happens and she learns that the girl is pregnant (more underbelly secrets) and her husband voluntarily takes her place as the hostage. Our heroine’s deep love turns into hatred and she pays the kidnapper to kill her husband. But both the kidnapper and hostage go missing. The kidnapper returns later to threaten the heroine to pay him a large sum of money or he will reveal her as the person who ordered her own husband’s death. And here let me introduce the second male lead: none other than the male lead’s younger brother, who loves the heroine as much as the way she loves the male lead. He kills the kidnapper for her….but when a scorned woman returns to take revenge on the heroine, second male lead ends up in a coma…. [Written by Kappy@AVV DO NOT TAKE OUT W/O CREDITS!]

What a tragic life our heroine lives in…. I omitted a lot of details and just told the story in broad strokes because knowing everything takes the fun away from viewing the drama!

I do try to watch all her dramas, every single production but after less then 10eps. I have to drop it. Sorry to her fans but she is beyond bad at acting. She is probably good for theatres performance but not dramas. But as long as she has huge fan following due to her music, she will continue have new productions.

i agree. She is really bad as an actress.

I think she have fans due to fame through individual activities like variety shows, modelling for famous brands and magazines than for music. Her group F(x) is not active since 2015 and she sings songs for dramas and mobile games when she is hired to do it otherwise no music from her.

This novel sounds more interesting than the drama. Pretty faces but too depressing to watch.

Tried to read the novel, but it was so long, and didn’t seem to go anywhere. I guess I did not get to the interesting part about the kidnapping and the pregnancy. I was hoping the little brother and her get to be together at the end.

But the novel seems to always default to the plot that if a Chinese women is strong, then Chinese guys will not love or help her, as well she is stronger than the guy, and the Chinese guy always wants to play the protector/guardian so they will always fall head over heels for someone that is frail weak etc…..
