Wang Kai, Yang Shuo, and Dong Zi Jian begin filming River of No Return (Da Jiang Dong Qu)

Well, well, well. The boys have been confirming throughout last month and now it has begun filming. What a handsome cast, I don’t even have to question the acting at all. The new drama River of No Return (working title, lol) is based on the novel written by A Nai. Nick will play the lead character Song Yun Hui, who has great potentials and smarts but was born into a poor family and hence is discriminated against. During the period of Chinese economic reform in 1978, he took his chance and won a seat in college studying engineering technology. And thus begins the hard-working journey of a man against many difficulties to achieve dreams of his childhood and as such he also opens up new ambiguities in his life. I know it’s very vague but this type of story is not my favorite to check out the novel. Lol.

Woah 80 episodes? I was so excited for this until i read that. I love thse type of slice of life, down to earth type shows but i cant even imagine how dragged out and tiresome 80 episodes of it will be. Although i’m still going to watch because Battle of Changsha has to be my favourite drama ever so going to give this a chance.

That summary just makes me wonder who is going to play Jack Ma when they inevitably make a drama or movie about him lol

Although I’m not sure if there are restrictions against fictional portrayals of still-living real people? Or dead real people from the past couple of decades?

“…….the hard-working journey of a man against many difficulties to achieve dreams ….”

Sounds awfully similar to the storyline in Hu Ge’s Game of Hunting.
