At least it’s a movie and not a 60-episode drama? Chinese film director, producer and screenwriter, Tsui Hark will be remaking the epic romance of Yang Yang and Little Dragon Girl for the big screen tentatively called The Romance of the Condor Heroes. The last time he did a film project related to Jin Yong’s novels is said to be movie trilogy of The Swordsman in the early 90s.

Tsui Hark 90’s movies are great. Wonder who is going to cast, I can’t even think of anyone who’ll match these roles. Everybody is really modern looking these days, as long as they don’t chose people with babyface (especially for the male) then it’s alright.

Wish they’d explore new material and content instead of continuous remakes of old classics.

Yang Yang would make an interesting Yang Guo though… Previous Yang Guos were all pretty dark-skinned. My fav Yang Guo so far is hands down HXM.

I kinda wish people stop adapting novels that are repeatedly and repeatedly and repeatedly made into dramas. I get that Jin Yong’s stories are total classics, but we don’t need to watch the same story every single year… 🙁
As I have said before previously, producers should really consider remaking failed adaptions instead of highly successful ones.

Movie version huh? There is going to be a fan war no matter who gets cast.
There was a lot of backlash for anyone who takes on the roles.
Most people think Michelle Chen was the worse Little Dragon Girl but to those people I would always say…you didn’t watch the two taiwan ones. The one from the late 80s/early 90s and the early 00s. You should count urselfs lucky.
I am a huge fan of this story and actually own all three version prints, in Vietnamese. I could qoute lines from the story lol. I’m not a book purist so I don’t mind change just as long as it makes sense. Please don’t change the story too much. This should also be a trilogy, can’t fit this into a movie, it will be disastrous like the movie from the mid 90s. I didn’t even like the one they did from the 70s.
I have watched every single version of this story ever made. Even the black and white one from the 50s/60s.

I have been a long time fan of Tsui Hark’s films. He was responsible for creating and reviving so many trends for Hong Kong films in the 90s. Recently, he’s had a few misses but generally is a good director and producer.
I’m not excited about this storyline being remade, but I trust that if anyone can re-imagine this story without deviating too far from the original, it would be Tsui Hark. His films usually consist of good casting as well, so I will be looking forward to a qualified cast.
