Jia Nai Liang and Wang Zi Wen’s deep love in Where Winter is Warm, Where Summer is Cool

Yep, this is the same one Bosco Wong was supposed to film but schedule conflicts so Jia Nai Liang swooped in to take the lead role alongside Wang Zi Wen. It’s a modern drama adapted from the novel Where Winter is Warm, Where Summer is Cool (何所冬暖 何所夏凉), written by Gu Xi Jue. It’s a warm (ahum…) and gentle romance which has a 2-part story, one about their courtship, and one about their post-marriage life.

Stills:

Jia Nai Liang. Our male lead has loved the heroine secretly for 12 years. He watches her with another man for 6 years, and then watches her loneliness for another 6 years. It’s his specialty and even after so many years, his love hasn’t decreased and when he isn’t satisfied with watching her, he plans his moves strategically – assertive and strong. He treats others coldly and only reserves the gentleness, the patience, and the consideration for her – his one true love.

“Thank-you for letting me love you,” he says.

Wang Zi Wen. Not a lot of stills for her. But she looks gentle and demure with the hair a bit longer than Snail.

Our female lead is described as someone completely rational. If you want cold and aloof, you get cold and aloof. If you want heartless, you get heartless. Because she is in love with you, she can forgive, however, she will not lie to herself. Sometimes being cruel is the only way to make the other person truly let go. Her saying, “When I love someone, I will love that person with all my heart. With both love and hate, I will do it with all my heart.” With her parents separated, she’s accused of causing the premature birth of her stepmother’s child and hence is forced to leave for France (for 6 years).

Model boy, Liu Chang playing a model, our heroine’s first love (for 6 years) but misunderstanding and other’s manipulation successfully pulls them apart. Right role! Currently in The King’s Woman. He’s so handsome, just his acting needs a lot of work.

Yep! I believe I left out the part where she’s temporarily blind and he takes care of her. It sounds very melo to be described as gentle though. Lol.

Melo is exactly an apt word for this story and novel lol. I feel so lukewarm when reading it 😛

Cool! I read the book. The first half was interesting as you wonder what happened to the heroine and what her back story was. The second half of the book was a bit repetitive for me, but it is about the every day relationship (trying not to have a spoiler here).
Can’t wait to see this in a drama format and want to compare what I imagined when reading the book vs what a real life adaptation would be like.
I was wondering when this was going to air, one more week and a couple more days, and I can finally watch this drama!

Do you know if there are any english translations out there? I think you read it in Chinese. I started watching this without any expectations and this type of melo is just my cup of tea. Now i want to read the novel too.

I read the first part of this novel and dropped it after marriage.

Rather than gentle I would say it had a melo vibe. There was a lot of mystery around our heroine.

    I might check this out.

    Ahh can’t wait!!
Apperently Wang Zi Wen and Jia Nai Liang dated before he got married to his current wife, ages ago
They acted in another drama, Shang Si Qiao , broadcast in 2010. That’s why was shocked when I saw news of them acting in this show
