Drama-Binging: What Are You Watching? (12)

Somehow, I can’t keep up with this drama-binging post, trying to make it bi-weekly but it always comes around as monthly. Lol. With august almost over, we are officially stepping out of the “hot summer” drama period and entering the cooling phase of the year. I finished Seven Day Queen as well; first Korean drama I finished this year! I put it off for like a whole month because I didn’t want to see such a well-acted, well-written, and well-directed drama come to an end. The last episode was beautiful, everyone has their deserved ending, especially the three main characters; they recognized their shortcomings and situation and did what was best – true to their characters and in line with the plot development. Props to Park Min Young‘s character because she made me realize that a badass heroine is not about wielding a sword; she fought with every fiber of her being, she took control of her fate, deciding every step of the way how she wanted to live her life.

The seamless transition between the three phases of our OTP undid me because it symbolizes their bittersweet relationship and how their strong commitment to each other transcends time and keeps them motivated to live until they are reunited.

OMG that song for King’s Woman. I’m drowning in feels ;____; for everything, especially PA ~
Three Inches of Heaven brings out the angst in me lol.
Even if Taek was a marshmallow in the first half I totally like the pairing between Ryu Jun Yeol and Hyeri <3
    But I'm a bit sad for what happened to NJK and LSK ;___;

    Dramas I'm watching:
The King's Woman – So far it's okay for me. Lovely palette. BRING ON ANGST LOL.
Strongest Delivery Man (I'm a bit behind though) – Overall it took a bit longer to get used to the characters but I enjoyed the contrast between two rich people and two everyday people.

I'm watching random anime lol They're short and easier to watch when I eat. Also I've been behind in catching up with two of my fav mangas. One of them has 6th season airing in fall so I got to get to it 😛

In Life and Love/ Love Actually – very typical. Dropping it. Chen Qiao En should pick better dramas. The last drama I was okay with was Destined to Love You, but that's because Bosco was in there LOL.

Lost Love In Times – nope. Can't get into it. It's probably because of the hairstyles LOOOL.

Dramas I'm going to watch or hope to watch:
Advisor Alliance – One day I will binge watch this but some time later lol.
Deserving of the Name – I still need to tune in for this drama wtih Kim Nam Gil. Heard so good things about this show. I'll probably nitpick the acupuncture parts lol.

Wu Xin 2 and Let Shake It, ET – Anyone know where to watch it? I've tried youko but it doesnt load for me 😭😭😭 I switched to another computer and that doesn't work either 🙁
I couldn't find Wu Xin 2 on youtube and the ones I came across became blocked in my country.

For Let’s Shake It, I’ve noticed someone posts the newest episodes on YouTube on Sunday and Youku usually doesn’t take them down until Tuesday. Just search for it by the Chinese title. I’ve been using the Youku app on my iPad to watch the episodes.

I started My Mr. Mermaid, and it’s all fluffy and looks promising. I also plan on starting The King’s Woman, but that will be after I catch up with the Eng subbed eps of Lost Love in Times. I’m desperately hoping an Eng subbing team will pick up Head Above Water and Blind Date…….. I really do want to watch them. There are some Lakorns I need to get back to, but no motivation at the moment.

Besides Let’s Shake It, I’m also watching Rakshasa Street and now somehow got sucked into The King’s Women. And since I only started watching C-dramas about a year ago, I’m doing a lot of binging of older series. Watched Prince of Lan Ling last weekend. This weekend finishing up Sparrow.

Really? the chinese version isn’t cancelled? I thought the Chinese government banned any reality show involving kids cause they don’t want the kids to be in the spotlight.

Still watching The Eternal Love, I just need to finish it. It is okay so far but I am losing my interest in finishing it.
I gave a shot to the new dramas and nothing really stuck. I do want to watch Wuxin 2 but for that I actually need to watch season 1. I will get there one of these days. So I just ended up watching When A Snail Falls in Love. I couldn’t get into it when it was airing, but I recently started reading the book and here I am. So far I think the book is much better, which is the story of 99.9% of book to TV dramas.

    • 29 thoughts on “Drama-Binging: What Are You Watching? (12)

I really think you can watch season 2 without watching Season 1. Lol. Everybody is different and Wu Xin’s memories are wiped, so like S1 didn’t happen for him (sad in more ways than one…)

Thanks! Then I will check it out since I have nothing else to watch and it is getting good reviews.

Silent reader here….been following this blog for awhile lol

Ever since San Sheng San Shi its been hard to find another drama to capture my interest. I started watching Lets Shake it! and it seemed pretty good. I took a break from it (will continue once finished) and started watching this other web-drama called Chef Fang. It’s pretty well made (except for the dodgy CGI at times) but is uber cute! The story is pretty simple so far so no major conspiracy theories and headaches (as of yet). The 2 leads are pretty unknown faces but their acting is pretty good and the chemistry is really sweet. The main lead male starts off as a loser but he gradually loses that and gets more mature as his relationship with his wife develops. And the cooking in the drama is pretty good and makes you hungry lol. Highly recommend if you haven’t seen it and are in the mood for something sweet.

Watching” The Kings Woman” with my sis and we are waiting for ep 7-12!!! So far , it’s gooood!!! I love the lead couples and their clothes and everything 😍😍💕

Started watching 浪花一朵朵 (My Mr Mermaid) last week after seeing so many cute teaser clips on Instagram. I had resisted since its airing, but the temptation of fluffy romance and hilarious side characters (the parents are gold) was too much. Eventually I gave in lol. I am now up to date having just finished episode 27 (literally 10 minutes ago lol).

It is a slow burn at first. There is a heavy emphasis on swimming (lol duh) to set the story but I quite enjoy it –drama wise and the sport itself. However, having seen short clips on insta (have I mentioned the parents are gold?), I knew the juicy bits would come in later; I only had to be patient and boy, was it worth it.

Would I recommend it? If good-hearted comedy is your thing, yes. Half is definitely related to swimming (I literally stood up and cheered when a certain person won their race; you totally get invested in the characters’ dreams and efforts), a little bit of journalism on the side, but plenty of bubbly tentative I-like-you-but-I-aint-saying-anything romance (the main leads are so freaking cute together– their height difference! Another thing I saw on insta that edged me closer to this drama) and lots of bromance to boot!! (the boys are also cute together; one character says so himself lol)

PS: I had watched another journalism-related drama last year– 独家保镳 (V-focus) 2016 tdrama. It’s interesting to see events/interviews/scandals/exclusives from a media POV, albeit dramatised.

    As for other things,
    1. Webdrama 双世宠妃 (The Eternal Love) is currently on hold at episode 19. No reason, just want to focus on 浪花一朵朵 for the meantime hehehe.
    2. 楚乔传 Princess Agents– I started because everyone on this site had such high expectations and promising comments. I gave up watching at episode 11. I tried to continue following the drama by reading episode recaps but I soon lost interest at episode 23-5 recaps.
    3. 我们相爱吧 (We are in Love)– as is my pattern with this show every year, I usually only watch for one pairing. This season, I’m watching for Wang Ou and Ming Dao. Either the directing/plot line/acting/character development is really good, or these two are genuine. Whatever it is, this CP is most mature and heartfelt imo. Been watching weekly since airing.
    4. 极限挑战 (Go Fighting) S3– is it just me or is it not as funny as the last two seasons? Still, you can count on me to watch it every week. Haven’t yet seen episode 6 but will soon.
    5. Kdrama Goblin is also on pause because my heart is not ready lol.

Thanks for the quick review on My Mr. Mermaid! I have good feelings! Sorry about Princess Agents. Expectations vs Reality for us too. XD

Really want to check out We Are in Love too for Ming Dao and Wang Ou. They look so sweet. No english subs anywhere!

I just finished 双世宠妃 (The Eternal Love) today since I binged it from yesterday. I started it from episode 13.

I had put it on hold from ep 13 and it feels like forever, so I just resumed it yesterday.
That drama sucks the life outta me. I swear that drama’s last few episodes are the death of me (from 20 to 24).

  8. 29 thoughts on “Drama-Binging: What Are You Watching? (12)

Currently, I am watching Lost Love in Times. The beginning was good, but now it’s just getting a bit boring. It’s gotten more and more into politics, and just not exciting as it started to be. So far, I really like Liu Shi Shi’s fighting scenes (’cause she’s AWESOME). But, dude, they need to pick up the pace… It’s already at Ep. 24!!!
At first, I was not interested in My Mr. Mermaid. I didn’t know much about it, and I never even looked at it once. But since most of the dramas I’ve been watching was ending, I decided to give it a try because I needed something to watch. And, OMG, I LOVE IT. Why? Because I’ve become smitten by Dylan Xiong’s handsomeness. HE IS JUST SOOOOOOO GOOD LOOKING. I’ve seen him in the other drama with Zhu Xu Dan, but GOSH he really took my breath away in this drama… To be honest, I’m really, really in love with him right now… Hehehehe… ^_^
I don’t plan on watching The King’s Woman. I’m not too fond of the main guy forcing main girl to marry her, against her will. And then having her fall for him later on makes me cringe. It reminds me the Thai slap/kiss dramas where the main guy would literally rape the main girl and she still falls in love with him. Yeah, I just can’t… Even my love for Dilireba and ZBB can’t make me cross that line. T_T
Also, goes the same for Let’s Shake It, Et. The brother and sister love story line makes me cringe, too. I mean, yes, he’s adopted but they lived and grew up together. Even if the sister technically “died”, the fact that ZYC’s character still fell in love with her is CREEPY… Zheng Ye Cheng, I want to see you in drama again, BUT I NEED IT TO BE A GOOD STORYLINE!! T_T

@ Kappy: Love what you said about ‘Seven Day Queen’. It was a magnificent drama that didn’t get the ratings it deserved in Korea. The last ep was beautiful and heartbreaking. I was a sobbing crying mess! It’s so true what you said about Shin Chae Kyung/Park Min Young as a truly strong heroine without being bitchy or a warrior woman which seems to be the only way some people depict strong women. Very grateful to everyone involved for bringing us such a wonderfully acted, written and directed story.

Since no drama can capture my interest recently, I’ve been re-watching older mainland and TVB’s dramas. A Step into the Past and Dark Tales are some of the the best drama I’ve ever watched from TVB. This is probably the 20th time I saw those two dramas and I still got immersed into the strong storyline and characters. Those really were the golden age of TVB. Strong scripts and actings were what made those two dramas big successes.

For mainland dramas, I binged for a while with the entertainment industry drama Above the Cloud by Yu mama. The beginning was interesting, but as it got torward the end, it began to drag and situations didn’t make sense anymore. As with most of his main female characters, the main female here also has a Mary Sue complex. That got me more and more irritated the more I watched it.

Also, while waiting for Sun Li new drama Nothing Can Stays Gold, I rewatched Mi Yue Zhuan and fell in love with it all over again. Sun Li and Liu Tao acting really are superb. A strong script is one thing but they really breathe life into their characters and I can’t find no fault in any of them. Well, except the part that the history is a little off….

Good rewatch choices! The music in Dark Tales is ❤❤❤❤.

Are you following The Unholy Alliance with Ruco and Nancy? The whole cast from A Fist Within Four Walls coming back together with the same production crew. Lol.

OOoooh! Dark Tales! I just cannot believe how terrible terrible these new Liao Zhai are!!! How I miss Dark Tales and how I wish TVB will stop their copyright and allow those series to be subbed online, I’ve only watched a few of them dubbed in my language and the rest, I don’t really understand anything much.

The very last Liao Zhai that was good was only the one with LSS as Miss 14, and the other one with the girl name Mu’er (I like that actress but why she no acting anymore?). Music was still pretty decent there. I dislike the Greenhill Fox although I do feel bad they went to film at the real mountain everything still look so terribly fake, although that might not count as Liao Zhai anyway.

I actually rewatched A Step into the past a few months ago, still so awesome but then I remember to stop near the end bc it gets crappy and boring. I’m currently waiting for Love Lost in Time to upload more. While waiting, I’m almost done with Journey to the West 1996, I did not know about this drama earlier, and it is so far the most awesome JTTW I’ve ever watched. It is so long and so hard to finish, at the same time I also really want to finish. Nobody can play Monkey King like Dicky, it made me realize I do not like the new version with Twins as much as I thought I did, because this old 1996 stay quite true to the what I expect a JTTW should be like (no romance for any of the pilgrims except pig) while the humor are at the very best too. No wonder why some people commented they watched it a thousand times as a kid, it is a very good one I wished I knew it earlier.

      • 29 thoughts on “Drama-Binging: What Are You Watching? (12)

JTTW: A thousand times and still counting would be me! I have it on VHS (not watchable anymore….) and dvd, dvd copy….Lol!

  11. 29 thoughts on “Drama-Binging: What Are You Watching? (12)

I’m watching forests of secrets only at the moment. In the mood for a good thriller and this show has good reviews.
I’ve dropped Eternal Love since it was too cringey for me.
Am tempted by Let’s shake it but hmm…faux cest, Way to discourage me….
Saw a few new jdoramas that sounds promising.
Also in the middle of watching Chef Fang….but the story is very slice of life so it doesn’t make me want to marathon it..so I watch it on and off.

    • 29 thoughts on “Drama-Binging: What Are You Watching? (12)

双世宠妃 (The Eternal Love) was kinda cringy near the ending, but it was worthwhile.
Near the end, it was super funny. I can’t spoil it here, but it was simple and nice.

  12. 29 thoughts on “Drama-Binging: What Are You Watching? (12)

Just finished the first half of my life… Hmm… Not my cup of tea, not gonna re-watch it.. But this drama is good. No wonder they slayed the rating and public’s attention.

Im literally watching a lotta dramas, but im gonna recommend some that i currently like more than others.

    1. Strongest Deliveryman (korea). Beautiful story about ordinary people who work hard for their dreams.

    2. School 2017 (korea). Just cute and easy to understand. Enough with makjang hehe.

    3. Code Blue S3 (Japan). Just waiting for Yamapi and Aragaki’s love story, hmm…

    4. When a woman chases a man (Taiwan). I like it. So far, she hasnt chased him but i think, he chases her first.. Lol.

    5. Attention, love (Taiwan). Hm.. Typical Idol dramas, but from the trailer, i guess, the real story will be started once they graduate, so.. Im patiently waiting…

    6. The kings’ woman (China). ZBB is L. O. V. E. Thank you.

Oh well, i also watch my mr. Mermaid too, but not really hooked. Also kim nam gil’s drama, i dunno. But i think this one is promising based on the rating.

Fyi : the best 2017 drama will definitely go to Secret Forest (korea). I just love it to pieces.. Hehe

  13. 29 thoughts on “Drama-Binging: What Are You Watching? (12)

I’ve been avoiding Cdramas since May but The King’s Woman might bring me back at least temporarily. I watched the ending theme MV and the chemistry between Dilraba and ZBB is pretty strong. So I’ll give it a few more days before I start it.

Lately I’ve been watching a Jdrama from 2013 called Tenma-san ga Yuku which was inspired by Ghostbusters. Very quirky, episodes are 30 minutes long and the whole series is less than 12 episodes. After this I may hunt down other Jdramas that I’ve missed over the years.

  14. 29 thoughts on “Drama-Binging: What Are You Watching? (12)

Currently, only Lost Love in Times. And that is due to my love for the leads and not much else.
Just watched one episode of The King’s Woman aaaaand hmmmm… The scared deer look of Dilraba is not particularly appealing and neither is ZBB’s grandpa voice. Does it get any better?

  15. 29 thoughts on “Drama-Binging: What Are You Watching? (12)

I’m a silent reader on here as well and this is the place I come to to learn about new cdramas.

    Currently watching:
    – My Mr. Mermaid (I am loving Dylan and Tang Song Yun’s interactions and I love his mom for cheering them on. I also love how whatever happens to Dylan, his friend will automatically report it to his mother. This drama is friend goals and family goals.)
    – Let’s Shake It, ET (Love Zheng Ye Cheng since Love O2O days and An Yue Xi from HQG. The drama is light hearted and the interactions between the main leads reminds me of Xiao Tan and Mo Lian Cheng from Eternal Love.)
    – We Are in Love
    – Code Blue S3 (waiting for ep 4 and 5 to be subbed since I don’t understand Japanese)

Finished watching: (For this 2017 year)
    – Eternal Love (rumors has it that there will be a season 2; if there is then I’m totally up for it.)
    – Ruler: Master of the Mask (Love Yoo Seung Ho and Kim So Hyun’s acting but the storyline was not good in my opinion; there could have been more done and I would have really liked the writers to focus more on So Hyun’s character.)
    – Suspicious Partner
    – Fight For My Way
    – KO3ANGUO 2017 season 1 (I’ve seen all KO series so might as well continue on with whatever comes next in line even though I know I will be disappointed in the end. Yes, X-dormitory writers, I’m talking about you; I’m still not over the ending.)
    – Glory of Tang Dynasty S1 & S2 (What I have to say is that this drama broke me.)
    – Once Upon A Time (Not a drama but the movie version of 三生三世十里桃花. All I can say is that it was not what I expected it to be.)
    – 学院传说之三生三世桃花缘 (Was debating whether I wanted to watch it and then I finally did only because of Dylan Xiong but then his voice was dubbed and so was the main female lead so I literally skimmed through it all.)
    – Painting Heart Expert (only watched it for Dylan)

There are probably a few others that I have finished watching but I don’t remember. I’m going to wait for Lost Love in Times, The King’s Woman, and Monster Killer 2 to be done airing before watching them. It’s not that I have to wait for subtitles but because Lost Love in Times and The King’s Woman are really long and from the trailer of Monster Killer 2, the storyline did not get to me so I plan to do a drama marathon of all 3 when they’re done.
