Chinese Remake of Answer Me 1988 casts Zeng Qi and Kou Zhen Yu

There are three series to the Answer Me franchise and yet they picked Answer Me 1988, perhaps the most infuriating one of the three to remake! Answer Me 1988 revolves around five friends and their families, growing up in the 1980s. Of course, the infamous husband-hunting crack factor of the whole franchise doesn’t miss its chance in here as well. Our heroine is the only girl of the group and finds herself stuck between the bromance of two other friends. Hehe.

– remembers the heartbreak and frustration –

The great parents. Gotta say the parents’ overall story was much more rounded than the kids’. Equally, if not more, heart-breaking than the main romance.

Our female lead is Zeng Qi, a graduate from Beijing Film Academy and a student at National Theatre Company of China. You will her in upcoming drama, Nothing Gold Can Stay, with Sun Li and Chen Xiao. She was also in Liu Tao’s Forever Love, a modern romance in 2016.

This is our male lead, which I think is going to play Taek, new actor Kou Zhen Yu, still attending Beijing Film Academy.

While Sina confirmed the production bought the rights, Tvn came out to say they have no documentation of such a thing. Lol. They are disappointed in this act. Let’s see what happens next~

Directed by Dong Chun Ze (My Daddy My King) and written by Xu Xu, Our Adolescence plans to have 40 episodes.

Looks like it comes with backstage drama as tvN didn’t sell the copyrights to them aka they stole the thing….

I wonder if that’s why they cast newbies – lower budget? the lead is cute but looks like a baby

It’s not the first time. Lol. I’m still waiting to see how it plays out since Sina said they bought the rights and then tvn said they didn’t.

And probably a bit of revisionist history as well for 1988 in China? As the romance portion was a dud, I thought the next most interesting part of the Answer Me 1988 series was that they weren’t afraid to show how unpleasant politically things were back then.
