I was preparing for bed until I saw the onslaught of updates on news sites. Turns out it’s Qixi Festival aka Chinese Valentine’s Day! Drama productions release new stills to celebrate the annual meeting of two (tragic) lovers, the tale of Zhi Nu and Niu Lang’s forbidden love as the cowherd and weaver girl in Chinese mythology. I’m sure we have at least watched one adaptation of this story.
You might drown in the stills so I focus mostly on ancient dramas….for now. Lol.

First thing I would say too, actually find jing tian wig very bad.
YM hat seems a bit heavy but still pretty, I like those hats the most without a middle hairsplit though.

I kind of like the cast of Heavy Sweetness, Ash-like Frost. I guess it’s because most of the actors fit their character descriptions (especially Leo Luo Yun Xi as Night), and I like the costumes as they have generally this simple but ethereal look. My only regret is that Deng Lun looks quite melancholic and his appearance is toned down compared to the fiery phoenix in the book. I was kind of expecting his smirking face ^^

Did not notice. There is quite a big difference between YM and DLRB that they do not come out looking the same in same clothes to make me recall. The piece of fabric and color look same in every period drama. But thats a good thing, I dont like when people try hard to make it different then it looks like some ridiculous non ancient garbs.

They have the same stylist/ costumes designer so their feels would be similar.. But I don’t think it’s the same.
They are playing places ladies/queen so their clothes wouldn’t be dramatically different either

Wow Yang Mi’s outfit is incredible…even though I’ve seen her in tons of dramas this look is totally different than anything else she’s worn–caught me by surprise! (Hmm, maybe because this outfit seems Tang-dynasty inspired, and I just realized she hasn’t really played many Tang dynasty dramas; apart from that brief cameo in Mei Ren Tian Xia where she was styled quite differently.) Actually in general, I don’t think I can find anything to complain about when it comes to the styling in Fuyao, so far it seems very well done! (3L3W was *almost* there–outfits and makeup were perfect, just wished they changed the weird bangs…) And yes Serlie now that you mention it, it does resemble Dilireba’s outfit in 3L3W!
It’s just too bad we don’t get a proper look at Ethan’s face in these stills, the OTP looks wonderful together so far though. ^_^

They have the same costume designer and they play similar roles here ( palace ladies) so the familiar feel is there.
But I think it looks beautiful on YM. She really fits historical costumes
