What Baidu/production Says About their work (translated by our own Tranzgeek@AVV!): Breaking through the simple Mary Sue plot of a drama, in this story, there is no longer a sweet, naive young woman for a female lead. After Qu Tan Er and the male lead, Mo Lian Cheng fall in love, they become a shrewd black-bellied joyous couple. In front of conflicts and crises, they confront it together, hand in hand with a complete tacit, mutual understanding, becoming invincible. In this way, they will make you fond of them, and they are worthy of expectation. This adaptation began shooting for nearly a year, and has become a popular topic, as an adapted webdrama “The Eternal Love.” We are trying to retain as much of the best qualities of the original work, while emphasizing the spectator’s requirements towards a drama. With our tight rhythm, and in the face of innovation, as well as a cast that we have tried to make as close to the original characters as possible, our team is conscientious and meticulous. Along with a different mode of operation, after our manuscript is set, the team, including the director, and main leads, will all focus on trying to shift the adaptation to an earlier date and carefully read the script and make repeated adjustments. To make it better and better, we will keep correcting the story and polish the script, so that it will appear at its best, and bring out the essence of the original work. Has there been an increasing popularity of actors with “classical C eyes” in C dramas, but not for C actresses? Haven’t some people commented on Huang Xuan, Deng Lun, Shawn Dou’s eyes before? This Xing Zhan Lin seems to have classical shaped eyes too though he may have double eyelids. I haven’t been staring at him in PA.
I may not have read correctly in the past, but an article said if you look at authentic ancient C paintings, you wouldn’t see double eyelids as traditional C didn’t have double eyelids. The article claimed that contemporary C double eyelids came from past inter-cultural marriages with … non Han tribes?
There are some double standard issues when it comes to actresses vs actors’ looks.

Agree agree. Idk about the general public, but I’m really fond of the long narrow eyes that turn into really happy crescent moons when they smile. I think those are super cute. Like Dilraba and stuff. Nini also has really pretty eyes w/ or w/o the double eyelids. Like she has pretty big eyes but they’re also on the longer and less wide side.

Thank you, Juli and Lenje, for sharing my C eye obsession. I hadn’t thought about Ni Ni until you mentioned it. She has a good, expressive gaze in her movies too. Which is nice.

add Zhang Yishan and Shawn Dou to that list!!! I’m really loving actor Xing Zhao Lin. This is show is up to 12 episodes now, and it’s been a breeze. Didn’t think I’d grow fond of the female lead but now I think she’s so stunning. Cute eyes too. So far the most classic C-eyes amongst actresses I’ve seen is Zhou Dong Yu’s.
I first saw her in the Palace Movie with Zhao Li Ying. I had thought she was more stunning than Zhao Li Ying. Her face is minimal and doesn’t have a lot but petite and interesting like a doll.
She also has a V face and droopy eyes that is just like out of a painting. I’ve yet to see a successful or more popular actress with plain monolids. Usually the popular ones have hooded double eye lids just like Dong Yu’s, and the rest have normal double eyelids like Zhao Li Ying or Yang Mi.
and about Xing Zhao Lin, he has hooded double eye lids but very small creases.
Noticed him the most from Princess Agent. Actually liking him the most of all male actors there. 😁

Noticed Zhu yi Long for a long time; he has such a traditional face, but doesn’t have the classical eyes. His looks is different from Deng Lun who is more of a k-pop face but I get that Deng Lun has the classic C eyes.
They both are good in their different ways.

Watched until the latest episode, episode 4, and it’s quite an interesting drama haha!!! I actually finished 4 episodes without a fuss, and is looking forward for more!
The female lead honestly isn’t the best at acting, a little unnatural. You just get the feel that she is “acting” when she is the 女汉子 personality, and when she is the 淑女 personality, her eyes tend to be rather listless even though what she is actually portraying is the gentle feeling. But she does grows on you the further you watch, and a double personality character is not exactly easy to portray, so kudos to her!
I have nothing much to say about the male lead except that his eyes are so damn attractive whew! And he does have chemistry with the female lead, especially during the scene on the bed when she is injured.
Something worth mentioning is 容嬤嬤’s needle punishment, rofl I laughed so hard when I saw it!

Just finished episode 8 and I have to say there’s a lot of kissing for a C drama (not that I’m complaining)! And I think Xing Zhan Lin is nailing those kissing scenes =P
I think the story would be better if they had left out the dual personality (basically 2 souls sharing the female lead’s body). The original demure girl should just go away and leave the spunky girl to own the body.
I do have issues with how they always portray modern women when they time travel to the past. Why do they always have to be loud, impulsive and rough? I don’t know any girls/women who sit with their legs wide open as the female lead does. If that’s the director’s way of showing the 2 different personalities, that’s a big fail IMO.

I don’t know why they put in the dual personality…I skimmed/read through the first 31 translated chapters of the novel, and it didn’t seem to mention the two souls inhabiting one body and the switching back and forth. Modern girl had taken over the other girl’s body for two years when she was to marry. And wished the drama production had done a better job w/ the scene at the Qu manor when Tan Er returned after her marriage, based on what I read.
38 thoughts on “Xing Zhao Lin and Liang Jie lead webdrama The Eternal Love”
Just wonder if someone could spoil the ending. Did she go back to modern time and left him behind?
The book only translated through chapter 31 and it covered so far as she went back to visit her parent after her wedding in the drama. I really hope she travels back to modern time and left him before. so far of the 8 eps, seems like he is playing with her heart, no English sub so I could not understand much.
38 thoughts on “Xing Zhao Lin and Liang Jie lead webdrama The Eternal Love”
I read somewhere the novel has over 3000 chapters, which spans 3 arcs.
And he’s not playing with her heart. He’s wary that she is a spy from his brother (since she and his brother were rumored to be lovers and from what I got of the first episode, Qu Tan Er had attempted suicide early on…my guess is which led to the modern girl inhabiting her body). He’s also confused as to her dual personalities, but he has definitely fallen for the modern her. Arcs 2 and 3 have them traveling to “new” worlds…
38 thoughts on “Xing Zhao Lin and Liang Jie lead webdrama The Eternal Love”
Nope nope don’t misunderstand hahaha! He isn’t playing with her heart! He is just wary that she is a spy, like creidesca said! But the modern girl kinda dismiss his thought that she would be a spy through her actions. And you can see that he is already falling for her and getting jealous that she is looking at the 1st prince and other guys hahaha!
38 thoughts on “Xing Zhao Lin and Liang Jie lead webdrama The Eternal Love”
I saw the first episode and I must say I immediately thought of Go Go Princess lol. The neon coloured clothes lmao..luckily it’s not skimpy hahaha.
Also feel girl is a lil unnatural in her role…But not to the point of distracting. Anyone saw the close up to Yue Qi face and see his random stubble and shaved brow?? Haha.
38 thoughts on “Xing Zhao Lin and Liang Jie lead webdrama The Eternal Love”
ME HAHHAHAHA!!! During the chess scene hahaha! I was thinking like why did the director choose to do such a close up! I could even see his blackheads omg hahaha! But he still looks attractive hehe
38 thoughts on “Xing Zhao Lin and Liang Jie lead webdrama The Eternal Love”
I’m really loving this drama so far. I was expecting a sappy melodrama but it’s actually a comedy (which may become a melodrama later on) but for now the interactions between Qu Tan Er and Mo Lian Cheng are hilarious. She’s always asking for divorce papers, but he tells her he’ll give them only if she pleases him in bed and he’s never satisfied (but his smirk says otherwise)!
38 thoughts on “Xing Zhao Lin and Liang Jie lead webdrama The Eternal Love”
I love OST. Three songs and it’s pretty good. In the ending MV, it seems like he married a new cuconbine and gives her a divorce paper. I just hope she traveled back to modern time.
38 thoughts on “Xing Zhao Lin and Liang Jie lead webdrama The Eternal Love”
I guess it is better if you were able to watch it w/ subs (I’m watching it w/ Vietnamese subs), otherwise you wouldn’t keep hoping she’d return to her time w/o him. Anyways, as mentioned in an earlier post of mine, the two get to travel to new worlds/dimensions in arcs 2 and 3 of the novel. If you visit the shushengbar site for this drama/novel, you’ll get the ending spoilers for the first arc.
