Shawn Dou, Peng Guan Ying, and Miao Miao in From Survivor to Healer

I haven’t seen this bright smile in so long!

What’s going on here? Yan Xun, why are you romancing Chu Qiao’s sister! XD Shawn Dou Xiao‘s latest project is a modern drama called From Survivor to Healer (爱上你治愈我), reuniting him with actress Miao Miao, who played Xiao Qi in Princess Agents. He’s also reuniting with Tribes and Empire: Storms of Prophecy’s costar Peng Guan Ying who plays the third leg. The story doesn’t seem anything extraordinary; he falls in love with the heroine in medical school but their families encounter unfortunate events, forcing our hero to avoid the love of his life and she decides to study abroad in Germany. Five years later, their teacher refers both of them to work at a hospital, allowing our hero to slowly win back his lady love, but she only softens as her mother undergoes medical treatments and he remains at her side. Peng Guan Ying develops feelings for the heroine but she rejects him cleanly. Then one day our hero discovers that his mom died eight years ago because of a car accident and is thrown into self-blame, doubting his career achievements, only recovering with the help of his love. The two later decide to pursue more education in Germany, forgoing marriage.

Yea…I don’t feel an ounce of excitement reading the synopsis. Lol.

First Stills:

Shawn Dou as the psychiatrist. SO DAPPER AND HANDSOME. *___*

Miao Miao as the psychologist, looking very sweet here. Modern setting is much better, isn’t it?

Peng Guan Ying as the cosmetic surgeon. How’s a girl gotta choose between you and Shawn?!

Add muscular man Zhang Jun Ning to the list.

Veteran actress Pan Hong as well.

Directed by Cao Dun (Tribes and Empires, The Sweet Burden) and Cheng Qiang (Love Marathon) plans to have 48 episodes. Interesting… Shawn is working again with director Cao Dun.

Chinese modern dramas are so boring lol. This sounds like something you have seen a thousand times but rehashed with different names and occupations.

Why does it seem like Shawn’s choices for modern drama aren’t that good…I’m glad he’s male lead but I wanna see him in a meaty role like Yan Xun from Princess Agent. What feels worse is that this plot is so typical but it’s 48 episodes, at least Kdramas with these kind of plots are 16 episodes unless it’s the makjang weekend dramas. Ugh but he looks so good.

I think it’s gonna be hard for a role to top Yan Xun! It is one hell of a TV debut for Shawn and I only worry that the other roles will pale in comparison.

Mr. Sunshine does look really good in suits, right?!!

I’m hoping his role within Empire and Tribes will be good because that drama seems to be in production for years lol I have a feeling his character there will also be unforgettable.

Yah and his white shiny teeth, to die for haha

I was just wondering what is my boy up to these days and here it is! LOL When I read the first line of your article I was like “OH NO NO NO!” because I thought of Xiao Ba first lol I am quite happy it is Xiao Qi. She gives me a down-to-earth type of girl feeling and I look forward to seeing her act along side of Shawn. BUT 48 ep??? Why does chinese modern drama have to be sooooo long. I understand if it is an epic/historial story but the plot is going to be sooo draggy 🙁 As of now, I am still interested because I think the pairing is refreshing and I miss Mr. Sunshine here 🙂

I just saw an article on this drama and they are calling Shawn and Miao couple as “Bean Sprout couple” since when they combine their name (Dou + Miao) means bean sprout lol I just found that funny 🙂

LOL. Xiao Ba gets to hug Yue and then romance Yan Xun?! The nerves that girl has! XD

I did a double take at first too, making sure it’s not the baby sister. Ha.

But this modern is too long and sounds very typical. I will watch Tribes and Tears In Heaven instead for my sunshine dose!

I agree. Wish SD has signed up for a drama with a less generic plot.

The early part of this drama synopsis is a bit similar to the start of The Interpreter. Both dramas seem to want to drag the plot out. I hope this drama won’t be quite as annoying as TI. With TI, it’s so obvious TI want to drag it out when YM and her mom has to be in the hospital one person at a time. And there are always past misunderstanding left unclarified for 10 years. Then waste a few more eps mother in law to be, make her character super unreasonable. Such a frustrating plot line. Good thing YM is an only child in TI. Imagine if they send all her family members to the hospital one at a time. There’s just too little material to cover in the interpreting world for a 50+ ep drama. And who sends Interpreters from C to cover emergencies in Switzerland? By the time the C interpreters get there, the emergency would be over. Hard to believe there are no competent interpreters in Western EU too. The C interpreters don’t do much for the emergency when they get there either. Just walk in snow, fall and roll around the hill. lol. 😀 This drama’s plot synopsis isn’t sounding a lot better. But hope they will do better.

Just going to watch the CP moments and ignore the plot completely, because no matter what, SD’s smile will shine through the dull plot! lol
