Sun Li and Chen Xiao’s Nothing Gold Can Stay releases long-shot trailer

It is an interesting trailer, one long-shot of Sun Li wandering through the night and visiting memories of the past. The chemistry thermometer is not what I want it to be! Peter Ho while plays the second male lead has more chemistry with Sun Li than her male lead, Chen Xiao. Chen Xiao looks like a younger brother around her. Lol.

UPDATE: Forgot to add that the actors will be using their real voices. No dubbing!

Compiled Stills:

Synopsis: Sun Li as Zhou Ying. She wanders jianghu for a time before transforming her life with a chance encounter. She’s sold by her adopted father into the Shen family as a servant. When she tries to run away from them, she gets into the chair sedan of Wu Pin (Peter Ho) and earns their trust through her witty business moves. When Shen Xing Yi (Chen Xiao) suspects Wu Pin in the murder of his elder brother, he injures him, which leads to the marriage between Zhou Ying and Wu Pin, in an effort to dispel his unlucky “air.” After Wu Pin dies and the family weaving business falters, Zhou Ying is the one to maneuver the whole clan and gets locked up in the process by the angry foreigners. After she is released, Zhou Ying rekindles her working spirit to rebuild the Wu weaving business and becomes the richest family in the area. [Credit: Kappy@AVV]

I read the synopsis before watching the trailer and it is so sad…
Anyone felt like crying while watching the trailer? After a tired day at work and while looking back at her past, the trailer ended with her just resting on Peter Ho’s shoulders, and you know he is going to die. And the song isn’t making it any better, so melo-ish. I think I might end up in the 2nd male lead ship again after Chu Qiao…. oh no.

I love love love the vibe of the trailer. It is short but it somehow reminds me of the old HK drama feels. The camera work is good too! And I think they didn’t dub Sun Li’s voice? It sounds like her! Production wise it looks good already, with great costumes and set!

Agree Kappy! I am not feeling the Chen Xiao and Sun Li cp lol… they don’t have the couple feels looking at the stills, like you said, like brother and sister. While Peter and Sun Li, those sparks are everywhere! I can see myself jumping into the ship already haha!

Lol! Peach! I forgot to mention that – they will be using their own voices! No dubbing. You have some good hearing! HAHAHA XD

They pita a puppy against a wolf for the romance. I can’t handle another second lead syndrome… T__T

The tone is lovely, I do agree, and that deadly foreshadowing….maybe he dies and then she moves on with a younger man? Lol.

Doesn’t her husband die? Iirc, she doesn’t get involved with anyone else romantically right to the end of the story.

Finally no dubbing hahaha- I do agree Sun Li looks better matched with Peter Ho.. Chen Ciao just looks too young for her.. This is like Lu Han and Gulinaxha in Figher of Destiny…

I’m probably going to be in the minority here, where I don’t mind who she ends up with or not as long as the focus is on her and not the romance. I’m a fan of Japanese dramas where romance is heavily toned down or non-existent (unless it’s billed as such) and the core story can focus on the growth of a person, so that’s where I’m coming from.
