Shawn Dou interviews: “[Zhao] Li Ying invited me to play Yan Xun.”

Awww. Saw this interview yesterday and I cheered so hard! Li Ying has an eye for picking actors, inviting Shawn to play Yan Xun in Princess Agents. Shawn fits the role perfectly. Just so cute how they thought of each other at the same time. Fans are still trying to figure how they know each other, might be through mutual friend, Zhou Dong Yu, they guess. *eyes in heart* This must be before he shot Tribes and Empire since he said he never filmed a period drama before. Please reunite you two, to cure my broken heart. Drama gods!

Fanmeeting on 6/24:

The poor guy totally got called out by his teacher in acting school XD “some students know how to do nothing but work very hard”. I’m so glad the school accepted him though. He was so innocent, thinking that there was only one acting school lol.

Shawn dou is a sweetheart. I have noticed him since the first episode of running man China in season one. LOL

I noticed him since his movie Love Under the Hawthorn Tree with Zhou Dong Yu. Broke my heart. T___T

yeah at Berlin film festival, shawn and dong yu promoted that film.
I watched Under the Hawthorn and it left me with 💦😭! That’s when I know when to stop watching films by that director whose films are dead on tragic. Before Hawthorn tree, I saw “To Live” 1994 with Gong Li coz before that I saw Farewell my Concubine. . . . . and now because of Hong Kong actor Leslie Cheung . . . . Guess what? Tonight it is my first time viewing Days of Being Wild! so excited!

About Shawn though, I like these pictures above, it kinda gives off Yang Yang’s vibe (youthful), but Shawn is better looking than him. (sorry if I offend anyone 😄)
On the previous post you put Shawn’s picture with the caption of “his smile is brighter than my future”, I totally agree on that. LOL. plus I think he has such an old guy smile, like old chinese grandpa’s smile LOL maybe coz he has that type of facial features, his jaws, and his strong nasolabial folds. He looks so so cute.

To be honest, after Hawthorn Tree, I was like: these two are gonna be big. I noticed dong yu a lot and saw her in Sparrow and such . . . She has small but modern features but she can look like an ancient princess in the palace. haha
I also noticed Shawn a lot too (coz I like his features coz I think not a lot of young Chinese male actors have the traditional features that he has, and if he’ll get popular/be a heartthrob, then heck i’m his supporter!!!) but he rarely acts in a popular drama.

After Princess Agents, Shawn will be more known in dramaland. I’m glad he’s taking on different types of roles in Tribes and Empire, then Tears in Heaven.

My wound for Hawthorn Tree hasn’t healed yet!

Have fun with Days of Being Wild! Another classic indeed. 😀

Li Ying sure has an eye for picking him indeed…He is just perfect not to mention that when he smiles the Sun comes out,Mr. Sunshine…He is just perfect for Yan Xun and suits period dramas so much…Ah,now i want him to reunite with Li Ying as leading duo so much…Hope we’ll see more and more of him in the future as leading roles in great projects(anticipating his upcoming dramas)…

I always thought Shawn was the better actor than Lin Gengxin, most likely because I had always associated Kenny with his performance in BBJX. Except for one movie (Sword Master) I haven’t seen other LGX’s performances so I didn’t really know how much he’s grown as an actor. I actually have only seen Shawn in the Wolf Totem; he and FSF nailed their roles and impressed me greatly, and that’s how I judged his acting ability LOL. While I’m pleasantly surprised by LGX, he does have the advantage of being pushed by the writers and the director with the spotlight and endless OTP moments with Liying. I think Shawn manages to work the limited screen time he’s got so far to show the nuances of Yan Xun’s personality. Please note that I haven’t read the book and my impression is only based on the drama. YX might be Mr. Sunshine, but there are times when his inner sadness & helplessness come out — he only lets it out around XE/CQ, apart from his mother & the Yanbei people. I love YX conversation with his mom — although he’s been raised & living a prince’s life, he’s nothing more than a hostage. He also knows most of his noble/royal friends don’t actually consider him their equal. Don’t start with the events in the prison — I’m saving my comment for the recap of those episodes. Let’s just say I’m having another great second lead syndromme :D.

Yes! Yes! Yan Xun and Chu Qiao have seen each other’s true faces from the very beginning.

I don’t want second lead syndrome! This wasn’t supposed to happen. T____________T

Waaaahhh now i want LiYing as my friend. She seems like a very supportive friend. She has a big name in the industry and she doesnt forget her friends. Im starting to like her more. Thanks Kap. I dont know much about LiYing and just imagine her as a top star like in dramas. But after reading this, i have much respect to her. I should read more about her and i bet you have a lot of articles about her. Lol.

Shawn is really good looking. I dont remember the first time i saw him or his drama. But since he’s so handsome, i just know him. Lols.

Thank you to Li Ying for inviting him for the role. He is both so handsome and a great actor which is a rare combination among the current crop of popular actors so I’m hoping the popularity of Princess Agents will propel him to much greater success and fame.
