Qin Lan, Charmaine Sheh, and Wu Jin Yan for Yu Zheng’s Qing drama, Yan Xi’s Conquest

Lol. I’m dying at the implication of this whole Qing drama. With Zhou Xun and Wallace Huo‘s palace drama, Ru Yi, set to draw in viewers, Yu Zheng can’t sit still and let the opportunity pass by his head. He’s producing his own Qing drama, tentatively called Yan Xi’s Conquest (延禧攻略) and inviting some big stars (Qin Lan, Charmaine Sheh, and Nie Yuan) to lay foundation while having his own actress Wu Jin Yan (Zhao Ge) in the leading role. If you have watched Princess Pearls (Huan Zhu Ge Ge), you would recognize the three female characters. HA!

Press Conference:

Our female lead, Wu Jin Han. She plays the kind-hearted Consort Ling. The story focuses on her romance with Qianlong and her conflict as she enters the forbidden kingdom in search of the truth behind her sister’s death. Under the guidance of Empress Xiaoxianchun, she grows into a strong and upright palace woman (really? not the other way?) With the Empress’s death, she ultimately becomes the emperor’s woman.

The bald head actor next to her is Xu Kai. He plays Fu Heng, brother of the Empress Xiaoxianchun.

Qin Lan (as Empress Xiaoxianchun), Nie Yuan (as Qianlong), Wu Jin Yan, Xu Kai, and Lawrence Wang Guan Yi.

Yu Zheng got the hottie Nie Yuan it’s hard to skip this time. Female leads are just so-so.

Not surprised. Yu Zheng has always been doing this. Look at what he did with the Gong drama. I am still bitter over the fact that people actually found that drama nice over BBJX when he copied and purposely aired his drama first. Rolls eyes. Then he came out with a Gong Suo Zhu Lian which was during the Zhen Huan period. Lol.

I am already having such a bad impression of this drama, it’s obvious he is battling Ru Yi. Ugh Yu Zheng when will he stop.

LOL yeah, Yu Zheng has been a big copy cat! But it’s also disappointing that copyright issues is also happening among so many recent dramas now too. Just like rumors of how 3L3W stole the storyline without crediting the original author, and when Princess Agents copied some scripts / lines so they have to re-dubb things over. Things that we thought are new are not exactly new, and if they’re supposed to be some remakes (which I can totally ignore copyright issues in these cases) then the newer version just don’t get any better than the older ones.

There are times I don’t really care about copyrighted stuff anymore as long as which ever version of a drama is best at acting, storyline, pace, styling, etc. There were a few YZ projects I liked despite of copycats, so his idea can be sometimes good. To me, what I dislike most about Yu Zheng would be his personality / intentions and real self as a person, he made it obvious that he’s trying to compete with Wallace’s drama. There are so many other dynasties and different characters in the same dynasty but he’s picking all the same things.

Charmaine’s smile looks a bit awkward in the character poster….haven’t seen her acting for years..wonder if she’s any good. The only drama I liked her was the one with Wong Yat Wah where she plays a materialistic girl.

Charmaine’s always have that awkward smile lol. I still remember her when she was really young with the cute chubby cheeks, she was the prettiest during that time. She somehow lose those baby fat cheeks and got super skinny and look really unhealthy.

Just want to comment on whoever that cutie is in the brown shirt. Even when he has no hair he looks so beautiful!!! Just hope he’s legal xD

Nah she looked great until she got veneers. They make her lips look weird, kinda like how Hilary Duff looks weird now.

But Ruyi has Wallace Huo and hopefully his fanbase alone will secure the drama :p I have watched only 2 of Yu Zheng’s drama which was Gong with ZLY and Zhou Dongyu as well as the Female PM. I have heard that he is a copy cat and has even been sued. He has no shame really.

Ruyi Royal Love In The Palace already have broadcast date at the end of year. I doubt Yu Zheng drama will be broadcasted in the near future. Maybe 2 years from now.

What do you think?
