Xuan Yuan Sword: Han Cloud OST by Yu Meng Long and Guan Xiao Tong

Xuan Yuan Sword: Clouds of Han (轩辕剑之汉之云) is the upcoming drama adaptation of popular Chinese game franchise Xuan Yuan Sword, featuring Leon Zhang Yun Long and Alan Yu Meng Long as brothers who were separated and brought up as warriors on opposite side. Bromance!

The melody of the songs are lovely so I did wish it was given to stronger vocals. It is a pretty drama!

  • Synopsis of the Game from Wiki: The game is set in the era of the Three Kingdoms, Wei, Shu and Wu and feature famous historic figures. Zhuge Liang, the chancellor of the kingdom of Shu had engaged on multiple northward military expeditions with little success. On Zhuge Liang’s Third Expedition, a secret military group called “Fei Yu” (飛羽), meaning Flying Feather, deriving its name from the two famous generals of Shu kingdom – Zhang Fei and his sworn elder brother Guan Yu), carried out various missions in the war to further the interests of Shu. However, on the Fourth Expedition, thanks to its own group of powerful secret operatives, Wei was able to discover and exploit critical weaknesses of Shu, prompting The Feathers to take action. The game addresses issues of loyalty and duty, as well as the harsh realities of warfare and peace. Leon is the leader of Flying Feathers, while Alan belongs to the secret group from Wei.

Directed by Pan Wen Jie (Detectives and Doctors) and Jin Sha, Xuan Yuan Sword: Clouds of Han has 58 episodes.

I’m actually so excited for this! Everyone looks so good! Sadly the MV’s make it seem like Ju Jing Yi character will die or something.

Will her character die jjy? How did she come back, if she die in the mv when she hug Alan? Is guan xiao tong character have any special power besides being a princess? Another c-drama I’m looking fwrd to. Hope it airs soon.

Everything looks great except for the white hair… Idk y but I just cant stand hair colours that are so bright, looks so unreal.

Guan Xiao tong looks very average, anybody knows why she seems so famous lately?

Happy to see Zhang yun long! That guy in white hair is beautiful, this time I actually like some crazy hair, the hair style would make many girls turn pretty but he manage to look like a guy in it so that’s alright.

She’s a famous child actress who has acted in several popular family dramas and films in China. Kinda like the equivalent of Korea’s Kim Yoojung.
Plus she recently got admitted into university with very good results for the entrance exam. So people like her for her intelligence + good daughter image I guess, but she doesn’t seem to be very popular among fans.

        Sadly, she’s lacking a fanbase. Also, @yoyo_oy I think she’s very pretty…personal taste I guess. Personally, I don’t think she looks average.
Overall, she’s had very very good supporting roles in the past. As a child actress and later on as a supporting roles, she’s pretty talented and general pretty diverse and capable of a variety of roles. One of the best IMO that I’ve seen her in was To Be a Better Man from last year with Sun HongLei and Lay and Jiang Shu Ying. I thought she was very realistic and totally in character and so 3D….she did a great expression of the character.
At the same time, lately she’s gotten more lead roles, but I don’t know if it’s her company/manager, or just that all young actors/actresses go through a phase of being type-casted in idol dramas, but all her new lead roles have been the typical Mary-Sue type heroine in idol-fantasy dramas. I don’t think she has much experience working with such characters so it comes off as not her best performance and the fact that those characters themselves seem so 2D and flat makes her seem like a typical new actress with no skill. A lot of people didn’t notice/know her too well before her new lead roles, so they only see her acting subpar in flat characters…thus she has little to no fanbase. Personally I really like her though.

Imo she’s average-looking. I’m more of a proportions than a features person when it comes to judging beauty so that may be why we think differently. I’m mostly bothered that she has a very very short philtrum which just makes her look weird (same reason why I don’t find Jing Tian pretty, though I do find Jing Tian more likable), which is why I don’t “like” her. The general consensus on Chinese forums is also that GXT stands out amongst average people, but is considered below average for the entertainment industry. I also don’t find any other 95+ actress to be particularly easy on the eyes too, which is a shame.

GXT is well-connected because of her family, and that’s why she’s getting lead roles left and right. She’s neither extremely talented nor extremely beautiful, and thus her opportunities seem undeserved. Sort of a mini Jing Tian situation, interestingly. She’s also accused of pushing the smart student image when she isn’t that smart after all (PR gone wrong after appearing on the Chinese version of RM). There are also rumours floating around about her bad attitude because she was way too aggressive on variety. She definitely deserved criticisms for the latter from what I know.

Personally, I think she’s too high profile for her own good, and doesn’t have anything to back it up, be it her works, her performances, her face, or her personality. That being said, I may be a little too harsh since she’s not the type of actor I like.

I kinda agree about the “stands out amongst average people, but is considered below average for the entertainment industry” part. Especially when I watch her stand next to Ju Jingyi in Novoland.

        • 23 thoughts on “Xuan Yuan Sword: Han Cloud OST by Yu Meng Long and Guan Xiao Tong

@Anna: JJY is hardly the basis for comparison though. I mentioned in another post that her title as a beauty in 4000 years is more like mockery than praise. GXT’s definitely going to have a better career as well. She’s younger, completely natural and has a much better figure (JJY is a midget). She just has better conditions to succeed. With better packaging and all, she can go far. Atm she’s the number one mini-fadan (95+) whereas JJY is nothing in her age bracket (90+). I’m sort of perplexed why people here like JJY so much. Just because of Novoland?

        • 23 thoughts on “Xuan Yuan Sword: Han Cloud OST by Yu Meng Long and Guan Xiao Tong

I meant only in terms of looks, I know JJY will not be as successful as GXT.
She is more like an idol.

Hmm, I don’t know but JJY is more popular in Japan than in China because the Japanese love her visuals, and she even topped a poll there as the prettiest idol despite not being Japanese. Imo the praise they give her is so overwhelming that it has caused a backlash for her in China.

        • 23 thoughts on “Xuan Yuan Sword: Han Cloud OST by Yu Meng Long and Guan Xiao Tong

Actually, I’m just not in the habit of comparing plastic beauties to natural ones. I saw JJY’s pre-debut pictures and she practically changed her whole face. I can’t take her looks seriously.

        • 23 thoughts on “Xuan Yuan Sword: Han Cloud OST by Yu Meng Long and Guan Xiao Tong

Lol I just googled and got shocked. She looked really different.

      • 23 thoughts on “Xuan Yuan Sword: Han Cloud OST by Yu Meng Long and Guan Xiao Tong

I didnt know her background and judging beauty and acting is always skewed based on each person’s opinion. When i fist saw the posters for Novoland i thought wow alot of pretty but even then i tot the eyecandy there was Zhang Ruo Yun. But then i watched the drama n i felt the most lacking bits was stiff acting from both her and the 2nd male lead. I dont find her natural at all. For me shes pretty but it isnt the kind of pretty that makes an impression. Her acting bothered me more. but then this is me talking about her in novoland- i’ve not seen her other works n wasnt excited if theres any drama casting with her as female lead

        • 23 thoughts on “Xuan Yuan Sword: Han Cloud OST by Yu Meng Long and Guan Xiao Tong

I haven’t seen any of Guan Xiao tong work either but noticed her in a few leading roles lately, and only saw a trailer of Novoland, but both of the girls look like kids! GXT still looks like a kid above to me currently. Might be even harder for people who seen her acting since as a child, just how Shi xiaolong’s kid image couldn’t grow out of me. Speaking of him I wonder what happen to him too, he’s so good at fighting why not acting anymore lol…

    • 23 thoughts on “Xuan Yuan Sword: Han Cloud OST by Yu Meng Long and Guan Xiao Tong

I find that as a whole the post 90s line lack stunning beauties like Ni Ni, Liu Yifei, Liu Shishi, Yang Mi, Baby etc… Or maybe they just havent become famous yet.

      • 23 thoughts on “Xuan Yuan Sword: Han Cloud OST by Yu Meng Long and Guan Xiao Tong

LYF & Baby always looked kinda weird to me. LSS is more ‘handsome’ than pretty or cute, but that makes her very versatile.

But Ni Ni is gorgeous. Yang Mi has her own cute charm. I think Mao Xiao Tong definitely deserves a shout-out here too. She’s one of those rare breeds that can cross over from cute to pretty to mature.

Post-90s generation is kinda lacking, but there’s two foreigners in the mix, such as Dilraba & Gulinazha to help. Sebrina Chen Yao (who, although not a typical looker, more than makes up for it with her cutesy and quirky acting skills.) I think it’ll take a while for the younger generations to catch up to the older ones.

        • 23 thoughts on “Xuan Yuan Sword: Han Cloud OST by Yu Meng Long and Guan Xiao Tong

Dilraba & Gulinazh aren’t really ‘foreigners’. Xinjiang IS part of China.

        • 23 thoughts on “Xuan Yuan Sword: Han Cloud OST by Yu Meng Long and Guan Xiao Tong

I meant they’re not ethnically Chinese, though they are Chinese citizens.

      • 23 thoughts on “Xuan Yuan Sword: Han Cloud OST by Yu Meng Long and Guan Xiao Tong

I think Nini and LYF, LSS, YM were all very pretty but still not as much as all the classic-classic HK / Taiwanese / Chinese like Chingmy Yau, Sharla Cheung, Joey Wong, Brigritte lin, Xiu-ling Lu, Joan lin, etc.

Might be harder for the new comers when it was already hard for the 80s line.

        • 23 thoughts on “Xuan Yuan Sword: Han Cloud OST by Yu Meng Long and Guan Xiao Tong

Yes, that was the generation where all the classic beauties came about.

  4. 23 thoughts on “Xuan Yuan Sword: Han Cloud OST by Yu Meng Long and Guan Xiao Tong

First time I really like the whie hair on someone… Alan looks so beautiful in it, but still manly like yoyo wrote above. I just want to look at him some more!!

Zhang Yun long’s hair is a bit iffy and Vengo sorta fails in that drag queen make-up galore. Lol.

  5. 23 thoughts on “Xuan Yuan Sword: Han Cloud OST by Yu Meng Long and Guan Xiao Tong

I loved the one with HuGe this should be interesting looking forward to starting this drama.

  6. 23 thoughts on “Xuan Yuan Sword: Han Cloud OST by Yu Meng Long and Guan Xiao Tong

I’m really excited for this one. When will this be aired? Reading the comments, I actually liked Guan Xiao Tong… While watching Novoland, I kept thinking where did I first saw her, then I finally remembered her in Strange Hero Yi Zhi Mei as the cheeky daughter of Chai Hu…. 🙂 She’s really young back then…
