I was so shock seeing the info, what?? 90 episodes? Oh my God… Need a million commitment haha. The first 4 episodes were kinda far from my expectation but i would keep watching it.

It’s the typical star crossed lovers storyline with revenge for kangxi. But the chemistry between the leads is hot. QJZ is blazing my screen with his intensity whenever he looks at Yang Zhi! Currently entertaining cos Yang Zhi’s characters all clumsy & chippy…perhaps it won’t be entertaining when the angst starts.

I feel like this is a pretty wholesome series for girls like me who love watching other girls living out their daily lives together. The relationship each one has with the others are very endearing and it always makes me feel happy to see them teasing and playing with each other. The only couple I’m really interested in is An Di and Bao Zi tbh so I kinda fast forward for the other couples if I feel like they’re taking too long lol :S It’s really the friendship that keeps me watching but the guys do add more meat to the plot. Hope this won’t disappoint!

Legend of Dragon Pearl
– Story: ✪
The plot has been done before. 17 years ago in Taiwan there was Princess Huai Yu. Same thing, Ming princess falls in love with Kang Xi. The two had first met when the Ming princess was dressed as a man and Kang Xi was undercover. Both versions have the two become sworn brothers. The Ming princess there was also as clever and troublesome as Yang Zi’s Li Yihuan here.
You cannot convince me this is all a coincidence.
I haven’t seen other similarities pop out yet, but some say Dragon Pearl is a cross between Princess Huai Yu and Duke of Deer Cauldron. Yang Zi’s Li Yihuan is the female version of Wei Xiaobao. Loves food, wealth and tries to escape from every situation she’s put in. A little reckless but knows how to use each situation to her advantage. A jack of all trades, master of none.
There’s supposedly 90 episodes of this series so the progression has been slow. But with that many episodes, I’m really curious as to how many other “similarities” we’ll be able to spot.
(Side note: Princess Huai Yu had 105 episodes so I’m not even gonna complain about 90 LOL.)

The four stars are for Qin Junjie and Yang Zi’s chemistry. Or rather, QJJ’s eyes whenever he’s looking at Yang Zi. It’s really no wonder they became an item after this series. =P
Also liking Shu Chang and Mao Zijun as well.

So this series is an example of “great cast with acting skills but trash plot”. The four leads deliver what they’re supposed to, but I feel like their talents are wasted on a plot that is all over the place.

Average. Nothing to write home about.

Yang Zi’s Li Yihuan hanging out with the emperor and getting herself into trouble is entertaining because she’s adorable. Watching QJJ and YZ is entertaining. I won’t deny how funny this series is, but it’s definitely a huge step down from Glory of Tang Dynasty from the same company.

I agree with most of this (too lazy to fill out the form haha). It’s pretty watchable, despite me personally fast-forwarding through a lot (already up to Ep 21, and I don’t see myself dropping this in the near future). I haven’t seen Princess Huai Yu or Wei Xiaobao (I’ve also read comparisons to Mischievious Princess), but the plot is somewhat weak and sometimes the directing/execution is a bit . . . questionable. Rather than for QZZ and YZ (though I am enjoying watching them together), I watched because I really really enjoyed Glory of Tang, so I’m feeling the same disappointment.

I haven’t watched either. Waiting for the whole thing to be subbed. Everyone’s review here is basically what I’ve been reading around anyway.
Not really looking forward to Legend and much as I like Yang Zi can’t stand 90 episodes of this plot. But since so many ppl talk about their chemistry I might watch cuts.
Ode to Joy 2 I am really looking forward to. I enjoyed season 1 but had a lot of issues with it but still love the 5 girls and want them all to be happy.
