Rush to the Dead Summer (夏至未至) is adapted from Guo Jing Ming’s novel. The youthful story spans the period of ten years and focuses on friendship, alienation, and one ultimate betrayal that breaks the group of close friends, each going their own way and entering society. Despite growing up poor and kind, our heroine (Zheng Shuang) works hard and wins a scholarship into a grand secondary school (sounds familiar?) where she meets a talented painter-to-be (Cheney Chen) and his best friend (Bai Jing Ting). Of course, love blooms in more ways than one.
So far, the promos have been summery and cheerful, but they do promise a summer of laughters and tears. *gulps*

Dayum, looking forward to this. I love youth dramas.

I’m really looking forward to Xiao Bai here, even though he’s basically playing Chu Yuan all over again (quiet gentleman with a trauma). I adore him from all the variety shows I’ve seen of him but I’m really hoping he’d prove himself as an actor.
The show looks great so far but I’m approaching it with caution because it’s the work of Guo Jing Ming after all. If it’s anything like Tiny Times, then we can expect lots of drama and heartbreak. But then again, I’ll still watch because barely anything in c-ent interests me these days and I need my drama fix damnit.

The title sounds so grim and depressing for a youth drama.
