Thai Version of Princess Hours (Goong) with Pattie Ungsumalin and Tao Sattaphong

Based on a Korean manhwa Goong, Princess Hours is getting an adaptation from Thailand! Don’t know about everyone else, but I think Thai has a knack of remaking dramas successfully, like Full House and It started With A Kiss. Goong is not my favorite Kdrama or anything close, but it is to many people, including my mom. That woman, she loves everything I don’t. Lol.

Trailer & OST:

They remade the original version to Thai too. “Perhaps Love.”

Our heroine, Chae-gyeong, is an ordinary art high school student. One day, she hears totally unexpected news that, based on her grandfathers will, she must marry the unemotional Crown Prince Lee Shin who attends the same high school. Free-spirited Chae-gyeong resists the proposal, but reluctantly marries him to help her debt-ridden family. As she struggles to adapt herself to the proper manners and royal duties of palace life and to her disagreeable husband, Lee Shins sentimental cousin and second-in-line to the throne Yul steps into her life. She feels like she can rely on Yul to help her, but cant help worrying about her haughty, cold-hearted husband. To help bridge this gap, the senior members of the royal family take some special measures to get them to spend the night together. Along the way, you will encounter numerous delightful episodes among the cute and lively Chae-gyeong, the cold heartthrob Lee Shin, the handsome, down-to-earth Yul, the perfect ballerina Hyo- rin who just cant get over Lee Shin, and all the other members of the royal family. Will the Crowned Princess, Chae-gyeong be up to the challenges of royal life? [Wiki.]

Princess Hours premieres on April 24th, airing Mondays and Tuesdays, 2 episodes per week.

At least they are doing a remake I will watch, with actors I’m alright with. I don’t know how good or bad the other remakes were, but It Started with a Kiss has an incredibly annoying plot, and the only thing I liked about the original Full House was its soundtrack. That’s why I wasn’t too high on their remakes. Plus there’s also the fact that the male lead looks a little weird to me.

On the other hand, I enjoyed Goong. The whole marriage-to-lovers trope is my guilty pleasure lol. And I don’t dislike the actors in the Thai remake as well. It’s a pity that you can’t film a drama based on Thai royalty (I think it’s illegal?) meaning that they had to base this on a fictitious country with a population of less than 50k instead, which is a little meh. I caught the first episode and it didn’t impress or anything but I’m still looking forward to the second. For the sake of old times.

Ep 1 didn’t impress me. I like Patty since hormones the series, but in here, she’s just meh. Plot, acting, chemistry… Meh meh meh. The only remake i like was full house thai. But gonna give it the second chance. Another one episode or two wont hurt.

There will be a lot of adaptation dramas. Secret garden, and then… Fated to love you (i dunno why some sites said this is an adaptation of kdrama, in fact kdrama did the adaptation of tw drama. Some kdrama fans only know that all adaptation dramas in the world is from kdrama. Sigh.)

I prefer original story. Or adaptation of novels. But thai producers love remake. There are some second or third generation of remake dramas in thai lakorn. I remember watching a 2016 drama, but then it’s a remake of 2010 drama. And the 2010 drama was a remake of 1999 drama. Okay… Not bad. Cant wait for sawan biang 2020, who knows hehee

you should definitely watch this, it definitely gets a lot better in the next episodes <3 i really love Pattie. Her role here (Princess Khaning) asks her to be kind of immature, cheerful and very sensitive which is kinda annoying , but after you watched the next episodes, her character/Princess Khaning becomes more mature and knows how to handle situations very well.
