Ou Hao and Hai Ling headline webdrama Hero’s Dream

Webdramas are becoming big on their own with high budget fees and more big names joining left and right. The latest webdrama Hero’s Dream (天意之秦天宝鉴) is adapted from a sci-fi novel Heaven’s Will written by Qian Li Fang. Not much about the novel is talked about but the vague synopsis describes the journey of a young talented lad (Ou Hao)’s journey after he’s offered an opportunity by a mysterious man to change his life. When I checked out Baidu, his character becomes the god of war – the Great General Han Xin, who served under Liu Bang (Zhang Dan Feng) and contributed to the founding of the Han dynasty.

Glad to see Hai Ling in a leading role. I thought she was one of the best performers out of the Go Princess Go cast — yet it was Alan and Peter who got roles left and right (Crystal too, but she deserves that as she’s been in the business for a while and she was outstanding in GPG).

Although I’m a little annoyed that our beloved Zhang Danfeng is again not leading, but this is an interesting role. I don’t think there are many movies/dramas about Liu Bang? I’ve only seen the character in the Legend of Qin, but it was short, though I thought Yu Bo was quite impressive.

Hai Ling is also the lead actress in the currently airing web drama 愿有人陪你颠沛流离 (Willing to Drift with You). I’m enjoying the drama and she’s very good in her role as the ghost. Glad to see she’s getting more lead roles.

Ah, thanks for the info! Not sure if the drama is right up my alley, but I’ll probably check it out of curiosity.

Another thing that I forgot to write in my earlier comment: I like the costumes. They display mostly muted and neutral tones, which IMO are fitting to the period, though this is a fantastical story (right?). Hai Ling’s costume is brighter, but still in earthly colors.

Webdramas are really great platforms for rookies and it seems like the way many are taking. Good for her!

I’ve started watching this now! Thanks for the recommendation. Hai Ling is cute and I recognise some of the cast from TW dramas hehe.

Damn now is the Qin Dynasty trend with all the Qin Shi Huangs coming out here and there…

Tang Yan in an evil role? I wanna see that!

Is it just me or is the mobile version for the web gone again?
