Ru Yi’s Royal Love In The Palace unveils more Consorts Stills

Palace drama Ru Yi’s Royal Love In The Palace (如懿传) is adapted from the novel written by Liu Lian Zi, following the marriage between Qianlong Emperor (Wallace Huo) and Ulanara (Zhou Xun), the Step Empress during the Qing dynasty. I honestly don’t think this is my type of story; countless number of scheming ladies conspiring for and against each other. Lol. The new batch of stills only consists of half of the ladies thrown in the pitting box to fight for Qianlong’s affections. One hell of a lucky role for any male actor.

And it has whopping 90 episodes! I CANNOT. YOU. 1#***3%@#!#@!~~~!!!

Holy cow 90 episodes! Beating Empress of China ep count. That sure is a lot of concubine not sure if we can keep up. Will try a few eps to see if it will catch my attention. I feel that there are going to be a lot of successful drama this yeat compared to last. Already we have general and I and 10 miles of peach blossom hiting high tv ratings and online viewship… whats next?

I doubt that Drama Fever will pick up this drama. It would take them six monhts to subtitle the drama.

Wheeew my first feeling when saw the number 90 too. So many beautiful ladies, how much is the emperor going to be infatuated with concubine xiang this time? The actress does not fit into the exotic description, won’t be competent with Ru yi (Zhou xun)?

    90? 90! 90 episodes?!?!?! …backs away slowly…

I always feel so sorry for the women in these harem dramas even the ‘villains’. It’s such a horrid situation for the concubines/wives constantly competing with other women, little more than brood mares in a gilded cage subject to the whims of a fickle man. It’s no surprise some of them became utterly ruthless and vicious to survive.

now that you mention the word villain, I do wonder if there is going to be one main villain everybody will hate and have to stand her for the entire 90 episodes or will she at least die out half way and a new one appear?

For an emperor, it is hard not to be fickle and his job is to create many sons, but for sure 3-4 wives should be more than enough already.

Totally agree with both of you, and Qianlong is definitely one of the more excessively flowery too-many-wives, too-flirty type. But tbh, I can see why often for some of the emperors, even just for making kids, 3-4 is usually “never enough”. First there’s basically the political connections usually, but even for popping babies, back in the day, it was prob also a lot easier to miscarry and/or die from childbirth and/or give birth to stillborns. The fatality rate was prob a lot higher with a lot more health complications. Plus the women prob also had shorter life spans, and then adding in the amount of sabotaging….

I mean, prob no excuse still, but there’s one view of the situation. Def unfair and not good lives for the wives tho. I mean, it was, and really still is to a large extent, a highly patriarchal society.

My love of Zhou Xun can’t make me weather through 90 episodes of scheming ?
I don’t remember dramafever ever picking up Empress of China so I am doubting if they will pick this up. If they are picking it up they would need more translators and have to secure the license pretty early.

“My love of Zhou Xun can’t make me weather through 90 episodes of scheming” — this!

  4. 26 thoughts on “Ru Yi’s Royal Love In The Palace unveils more Consorts Stills

What a nice surprise haha! Yay to more stills, though I want more of our mains and especially Li Chun! Im excited about this girl acting as a villian!
90 episodes? I am all ready! Zhen Huan was so good that the 76 episodes felt so damn short! So here’s to hoping that RuYi will be a success as well, to the point where the 90 episodes will feel like a breeze for me!

    • 26 thoughts on “Ru Yi’s Royal Love In The Palace unveils more Consorts Stills

I knew there’s an audience for these palace dramas! It’s you peach! Lol. I can’t imagine 76 episodes being a breeze… Omiiiii!

hehe yes I am a fan of palace dramas 🙂

  5. 26 thoughts on “Ru Yi’s Royal Love In The Palace unveils more Consorts Stills

90 episodes ……Not even gonna try to attempt this, and I’ve done some crazy shit in my life

  6. 26 thoughts on “Ru Yi’s Royal Love In The Palace unveils more Consorts Stills

90? Might as well do 100 lol

So many concubines! I can’t tell them apart.

  7. 26 thoughts on “Ru Yi’s Royal Love In The Palace unveils more Consorts Stills

Wow, very heavy-weight actresses. Dong Jie alone can pull her weight in a drama as a lead actress. Put her along with Zhou Xun and we really have the ball going.

Also, the thing that struck out to me is that one of the characters will die in a sad fashion after being fed infertility medication from the emperor. C’mon that’s very “Legend of Zhen Huan.” Can they not come up with something more original?

I’m going to marathon this drama, despite the 90 episode saga. The cast is not to be missed.

  8. 26 thoughts on “Ru Yi’s Royal Love In The Palace unveils more Consorts Stills

Too many concubines so I won’t be watching. Although, I’d appreciate a good reverse plot someday where the concubines join together to ditch the palace. I think there’s a Japanese drama where the women are in charge and the men all fight to be the pretty new. faces . . .

    • 26 thoughts on “Ru Yi’s Royal Love In The Palace unveils more Consorts Stills

damn that is new and interesting!!!!!!!

    • 26 thoughts on “Ru Yi’s Royal Love In The Palace unveils more Consorts Stills

I think there’s an upcoming Chinese drama called “Phoenix Imprisoning” with this plot. Based on a novel which is based on an actual royal family in Shang Dynasty where the Emperor brother gives his sister 30 male concubines/boy toys.

      • 26 thoughts on “Ru Yi’s Royal Love In The Palace unveils more Consorts Stills

Yep. It’s this one. In Yumama’s trustworthy hands! LOL.

        • 26 thoughts on “Ru Yi’s Royal Love In The Palace unveils more Consorts Stills

Yumama why??! now that’s a real dilemma …

And m’bad, it’s Liu-Song not Shang. All about it here: here:https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liu_Chuyu

Oh Chinese history, you never fail to entertain

  9. 26 thoughts on “Ru Yi’s Royal Love In The Palace unveils more Consorts Stills

For some reasons the episodes dont scare me anymore. It’ll be the amount of time to wait but thank god China releases their dramas every weekday to keep me stable. I’m looking forwarded to this and the other drama with Zhang Ruo Yan

  10. 26 thoughts on “Ru Yi’s Royal Love In The Palace unveils more Consorts Stills

90 episodes of ever scheming women…all they do is scheme all day erday…. ya no thanks.

  11. 26 thoughts on “Ru Yi’s Royal Love In The Palace unveils more Consorts Stills

90 episodes just mean that they will tell the story from the lead character’s birth, childhood, teen years, young adult years all the way to elderly years. It is pretty doable! This is to ensure that we do not miss anything! I think we probably see very complex villains and their reasoning that the end up so bad!

Yes if I was a concubine, I would probably join in all the scheming game as well! What is there to do behind the four walls lol.?

  12. 26 thoughts on “Ru Yi’s Royal Love In The Palace unveils more Consorts Stills

I first one will be tuning in. I’ve always loved dramas centered around Qianlong’s Era, so I’m curious to see how this one will go.

  13. 26 thoughts on “Ru Yi’s Royal Love In The Palace unveils more Consorts Stills

    Cannot wait for this drama.

  14. 26 thoughts on “Ru Yi’s Royal Love In The Palace unveils more Consorts Stills

Part of me is going oh dear why would I torture myself by sitting through 90 episodes of a palace drama, but then if it’s as good as Zhen Huan Zhuan, then why not haha. Loved Zhen Huan Zhuan because the acting was A+, characters were well-written, and there were strong female friendships and alliances.

Ru Yi has Wallace Huo so that’s an added incentive to watch lol.
