Rekindling an old franchise with younger faces. If you recall, A Better Tomorrow is a series of Hong Kong crime films released initially in 1986 that gave light to Chow Yun Fat’s career and anchored his super star status. Other stars in the franchise include Ti Lung, Leslie Cheung, Emily Chu, Tony Leung Ka Fai and Anita Mui. Still centering on the theme of brotherhood and drug-dealing, the new story has three male figures in Nick Wang Kai, Ma Tian Yu and Darren Wang.

Oh my…I didn’t recognise Nick Wang Kai at all with that hair.
I don’t know this Ma Tian Yu guy but he is very cute and I just googled and he’s 30 so I can crush on him without feeling inappropriate!

I am a bit scared of a new a better tomorrow. I am a fan of the classic. Not to say the actors won’t do a good job I am sure they would just that I am worried about the story line.

Curious how a mainland A Better Tomorrow would be like. I think it’d be difficult to replicate the brotherhood, drug-dealing, criminal gang vibes that’s pretty unique to Hong Kong cinema. But I trust these actors, I think they’ll do well.
