Thanks for all the news, gossips, etc. Especially the one on Run Brothers. I’m so excited as it has been forever! Do you know when it will officially air?

    • 33 thoughts on “Bulletin Board: Cdramaland/Entertainment News (50)

They will start airing in April (shooting begins late Feb/ early March). 🙂

i think the korean ban would be a good thing

the dubbing for korean actors are so way off and its really annoying and makes me not even want to watch the drama

I wonder if there will ever be a day where a foreign actor actually learns mandarin

    • 33 thoughts on “Bulletin Board: Cdramaland/Entertainment News (50)

There is dubbing for Chinese actors as well and that bothers me so much more than dubbing done for Koreans.

I’ve read a thread at OneHallyu with an interview with a Chinese voice actor and he says dubbing for Chinese actors will never end and one of the main reasons is because actors on the screen can not say and act their lines well.

I agree that Koreans actors should not anymore work in China at all.

      • 33 thoughts on “Bulletin Board: Cdramaland/Entertainment News (50)

most chinese movies arent dubbed idk why
but then again there are some dramas like when a snaill falls in love that has the mouths synced to the voices so perfectly that i can’t even tell if its dubbed or not

        i guess its random

      • 33 thoughts on “Bulletin Board: Cdramaland/Entertainment News (50)

Not every actor has standard accent and pronunciation. The C language is very subtle. It’s very obvious when tones and pronunciation are just slightly off. When I saw BTS vids for C period drama, the dubbed final version actually has a lot more period feel to it. Many actors speak the lines without that period feel, except for the very skilled or detail-oriented ones.

In some cases, like Nirvana in Fire, the main actors dub themselves. Every person has her own speaking rhythm. When you’re dubbed by someone else, it takes a long time for them to mimic the whole line. Many dubbers, ?directors? are just not willing to shell out the expense and time to repeat until it is perfect.

C drama is more enjoyable when dubbers spend the time to fit their speech to the onscreen visual images. Jin Dong, Hu Ge, Liu Mintao etc take this seriously. Many professional dubbers don’t spend as much time and effort on it.

      • 33 thoughts on “Bulletin Board: Cdramaland/Entertainment News (50)

But isn’t this more so for historical and wuxia dramas, because I’ve seen a couple of modern Chinese dramas where they don’t dubbed the actors voice, minus the non-mainland China actors like Hawick Lau, Wallace Chung, etc.

I like all Yang Yang’s master kong tea advertisement. I can’t wait for YY and ZLY’s CF come out.

  6. 33 thoughts on “Bulletin Board: Cdramaland/Entertainment News (50)

5 Centimeters Per Second adaptation!? Ahhh, the feels. Will the drama give it a happy ending? I wanna watch it even if it’s Luhan and ZDY.

PS: I need another YY’s drama to come out soon. D:

  7. 33 thoughts on “Bulletin Board: Cdramaland/Entertainment News (50)

I was scoffing at those people criticising YY the last time the scandal came out. Here is the evidence you people! Hmph!!!!!
Im so excited for Divas Hit the Road even though there were so many issues, ZRY!!!!!
Lost Love in Time is airing in July? Wow! They nornally take away to air, this is fast, not that I am complaining heh! LSS and William yay yay!
Dilraba needs more and more exposure! This girl has a great personality and decent acting skills, on top of that she is so gorgeous! Want to see her hit it big!

So happy with all those happy news of those famous married couples in the industry! And omg omg, Chen Xiang and MXT appears!!!!! They were so quiet about their r/s like ZRY and Tina that im afraid they broke up or sth! Glad to know they are still going strong!

    ShanShan meets XiaoNai! Hehehe!!!

    • 33 thoughts on “Bulletin Board: Cdramaland/Entertainment News (50)

Wouldn’t it be a genius move to have them filmed the CF in the said roles? Xiao Nai and Shan Shan? Lol!

Chen Xiang and Xiao Tong. ❤❤❤

  8. 33 thoughts on “Bulletin Board: Cdramaland/Entertainment News (50)

Enjoy your snow day! I’m here at work and it has started snowing. I can’t believe they named this storm Niko. Such a cute name for a nasty storm, haha.

I’m loving the theme song to Song of Phoenix. Hope they also decide to release Vanessa Jin Minqi’s version as well. Hers was in the first trailer.

Whoever is making up rumors about Yang Yang using body doubles must be jealous of his popularity. Kind of sad that they have to post pictures of his cuts and bruises to prove his dedication.

Isn’t this the same brand of tea that Yang Yang and Zheng Shuang filmed a long CF for? They released it before Alluring. Hmmm does this mean Yang Yang and ZLY will have a project together other than the CF? Hehe.

Ah the TVB ladies! I’ve seen Cherie here and there but haven’t seen Michelle Fung in so long. Wouldn’t it be nice if these ladies were invited back to TVB for lead roles?

Chen Xiang, just marry Rachel already~

Also just learned today that Tian Xia Chang An just started filming today. Qin Jun Jie with Shu Chang again! Already looking forward to it~

    • 33 thoughts on “Bulletin Board: Cdramaland/Entertainment News (50)

Lol! I literally just posted the article about Chang An! =D

Dunno whose toes Yang Yang stepped on, but they are after him relentlessly!

Yep, it’s the same brand…. Lol… Fingers crossed for their collaboration!

Some older actors are coming back to TVB this year! Would be nice to have a reunion drama for them. ❤❤❤

  9. 33 thoughts on “Bulletin Board: Cdramaland/Entertainment News (50)

Apparently yy and zyl will film their ad on the 18-19th of feb.

  10. 33 thoughts on “Bulletin Board: Cdramaland/Entertainment News (50)

Thanks for updating us on all the news!! AND YES…I would be in cloud 9 too if they gave me a day off for snow. Unfortunately, that might be the whole winter up in Canada. lol

  11. 33 thoughts on “Bulletin Board: Cdramaland/Entertainment News (50)

Song of Phoenix looks promising. Is viann thr lead actress? For some reason i never felt she is main actress material. Maybe she will change my mind here. I like the first season of diva hit the road. I wish they had more of an age range . More interesting to watch for me. I was anticipating a hand ful of drama for this year. So far general and i has meet my expectation with the cast, storyline, ots, otp and costume, if only less green screen and better editing the series would of been perfect for me. I wish they would have different co star for run brother instead of have dilbara being a fill in for angela. Oh well. Hopes it turns out!

    • 33 thoughts on “Bulletin Board: Cdramaland/Entertainment News (50)

Yes she is…but the bromance will take precedence. XD

  12. 33 thoughts on “Bulletin Board: Cdramaland/Entertainment News (50)

    Hello Kappy,
That’s a lot of updates. Thank you so much. I am totally absorbing all the info. I noticed that QJJ and SC or YZ has been “recycled” into many films lately. While I love them to bits, it is starting to be a bit “déjà vu” as we see the same ones over and over and over again. Just my opinion though (please don’t throw any rotten veg at me). I love them all I truly do.

BTW can someone explain to me what is the hype with YY and ZLY ? I know ZLY looks younger than her age but YY looks like a baby!!!!!! I always picture our Ying Bao Bao with someone a bit more mature like MZJ or Eddie or Kenny…….I am just curious. I llok forward to seeing their ad together. The advert for acholate bar that Kenny Kwan and LY appeared in never got this kind of hype.

    • 33 thoughts on “Bulletin Board: Cdramaland/Entertainment News (50)

Lol. No worries, Wuxialovers. I brought up the same thought in my Madam White Snake previous post. They are lovely folks. 🙂

As for YingYang coupling, I think it’s just because they are popular and likable actors so fans like to see them together. I do remember Kenny and Li Ying’s choco ad. They are cute too but YY is more popular. XD

  13. 33 thoughts on “Bulletin Board: Cdramaland/Entertainment News (50)

I am aware Zhang Han has lots of fans. But I am really not a fan. I am struggling to find the reason to his immense popularity. To each its own…

  14. 33 thoughts on “Bulletin Board: Cdramaland/Entertainment News (50)

I still dont get it, why aaron takes the 2nd lead in tw-drama when he successfully lead the drama? I mean, his latest drama was a hit, refresh man, right?
    Just wondering.

So envious, i want to touch the snow. Im living in an ‘always summer time’ country lols.

Thanks for the news, gossip etc. Gotta check some names mention above especially our last year breakout actress, rachel mao’s boyfriend. I dunno him. 🙂

    • 33 thoughts on “Bulletin Board: Cdramaland/Entertainment News (50)

He is probably attempting to break into the Mainland market. Refresh Man may have been a hit in Taiwan but not in the Mainland except for his fans there. I don’t think he will be doing a Taiwanese drama anytime soon since he openly criticized Sanlih Television (company that produced and aired Refresh Man) and basically “cut” ties with them. His criticism revolved around ridiculous practices that they use, like giving him the script minutes before filming, having the same storylines over and over (he isn’t wrong about that), overworking rookie and veteran actors, etc.

    • 33 thoughts on “Bulletin Board: Cdramaland/Entertainment News (50)

Like Vivian Wu says, being a second lead or less in a great drama is better than being the lead in a mediocre drama. There are lots of actors for casting directors to choose from. If you don’t get offered a role in a great drama, it’s better not to give your fans a bad impression by being the lead in a mediocre drama. Unless you have lots of bill to pay immediately.

@chasingpolaris That’s not a good sign for Sanlih. As much as ppl complain about c dramas, I think the average T drama is worse. Many T productions seem to favor the more over the top acting. It’s funny once in a while, but often it is a bit much. Like the classic Fated to Love You. Ji Cunxi’s grandma and a few relatives are funny, but Ji Cunxi’s flamboyantly weird assistant’s acting style. Joe Chen’s in laws and his gang, Wu Qiqi and Wu others. They look too old, too stuffy, too OTT to be silly or funny for their roles. Plus there were just too many of them. Is the OTT style modeled after a particular style of j drama? In a Good Way had a few rather boring 3rd and other pairings. Kristen Ren’s acting was raw too. Her emotional crying scenes were not easy to watch. In Time with You, My Queen with Cheryl Yang were among the few all-around-pleasant ones. The more recent award winner, Marry Me or Not. Story line wasn’t particularly outstanding. Alice Ke’s acting was a bit much for me. I much prefer Joanne’s acting. Who/what are great T drama actors/actresses & dramas these days?

      • 33 thoughts on “Bulletin Board: Cdramaland/Entertainment News (50)

I’m not really keeping tabs on Taiwan dramas anymore unless I come across one accidentally, like this one I just started called Behind Your Smile. Only watching it for the eye candy named Marcus Chang. The plot is nothing new.

The thing about TW dramas these days is that they try too hard to emulate Korean dramas. From the fashion to the melodramatic plots.

        • 33 thoughts on “Bulletin Board: Cdramaland/Entertainment News (50)

Thanks! I haven’t heard of Behind Your Smile or Marcus Chang. I’ll check them out when I have time.

A specific type of capitalism at work. Re-using the same, single formula that works financially. I think T dramas have yet other problems. Cdramas sometimes have non-matching dubbing sound to visual issue, but at least C dramas have more nuanced and layered speech delivery. T drama line delivery is more monotonous by comparison imho, though they could be charming at times with the Taiwanese dialect mixed in.

Some T actors are talented and are good. But there are enough other T actors do not have “official training” in acting and not particularly great at it. At least the majority of C actors received training though not everyone benefits equally much from the training. C dramas also are much better with action sequences.

Despite their problems, at least some c dramas are based on novels. Some T dramas are almost just improvising their drama plot on the spot or something like it.

Had T drama not been in the idol genre, it may have struggled even more for its financial survival? TVB used to have a respectable, even dominant position in Asia. I don’t even know how far down the list TVB would have languished, had there been a ranking for Asian TV drama production firms. Those who make idol drama may prolong survival by a few years by showing beautiful people in pretty clothes and houses.

Wow Divas hit the road- such star studded cast.
