Yang Rong, Hawick Lau’s The Legend of Flying Daggers to air

Good or bad news… With Hawick Lau‘s scandal still lingering, I feel bad for Yang Rong and the whole cast ensemble. Legend of the Flying Daggers is the fifth and final installment to Gu Long‘s Little Li Flying Dagger series. FYI, Zhu Yi Long’s Border Town Prodigal is the third installment. The novel follows Li Huai, Li Xun Huan’s grandson, as he wanders in jianghu to help the poor and uphold justice using his grandfather’s Little Li Dagger technique. How I wish Hawick could use those little daggers in real life and cut off the scandalous tail he has acquired for himself. Spare us and Yang Mi the pain. Lol.

Yes to Yang Rong! No to Hawick. He doesn’t have the ancient hero aura. Can we get a drama where YR is the lead as in the plot focuses on her? lol

Wouldn’t that be her next drama Feng Qiu Huang?? Lol. Memory Lost is also focused on her. Her dramas now have so many eye candies.

I feel bad this is now airing online instead of a big tv station. ?

I feel bad for YR too, I have always been anxious to see her in a main role, like in ancient dramas, and she finally got this one but it’s not her fault about the thingy. I would look forward to Feng Qiu Huang too. 😀 I forgot Kenny is in here as well! Gui Gui is a very cute actress, I hope to see her rise as well.

I have yet to finish the Chilam and Ruby version of this! Lol.

How timely of this to air when his rumor is still fresh in people’s minds.

Lol. Just watch Yang Rong’s version in 10 days!

The fact that it’s picked up by an online platform is telling of the current sentiment. Sigh ~

I can’t help but compare Border Town Prodigal and Flying Dagger, and IMO Border stays true to the wuxia genre (though the actual story has been butchered) while this — at least from the trailers — looks more like a xianxia. I enjoyed Border a lot because it has the old wuxia feel and hand-in-hand (or sword to sword) combat. Not as much as I would’ve liked but better than most wuxia dramas these days. I will wait until Flying Dagger is aired and see what others think about it. Confession: I haven’t even started Wei Young!

      I can’t say much about Border since I didn’t watch it. 😀

      What are you watching, Lenje?

Wei Young is entertaining, at least our heroine doesn’t make me want to bang my head on the wall. heh.

I agree, many of today’s dramas don’t stay true to their genres. They overdone it. If we actually look back in history, there won’t be all these glamorous clothes and items. Don’t get me wrong, there are great and glamorous clothes/items/palaces in the ancient time; however, they are not like those in our time too. Ex. those pretty concubines in dramas palace compare to those real concubines. We all feel sorry for the Emperor.

It looks good! It’s too bad this is airing while his scandal hasn’t faded yet, but I’ll watch this anyway! I think Hawick should do more of these sort of roles. It’d be a nice break from his consistent run in melodramatic story lines.

I think Hawick should take a break from filming. Lol. He’s been filming non-stop and paps also follow him non-stop. It’s a good opportunity to spend some time with his family.

If this drama is anything like the old version…I’m going to end up hating Gui Gui’s character….but she looks so dang cute in her vibrant colours T_T

LOL! It’s close to impossible to dislike Gui Gui and her sunshine smile!

I guess they will remove the lesbian subtext for YR character in this version. I really liked the subtext in Ruby Lin’s veersion, mainly cos I just didn’t feel for the main couple.

Dong Jie was absolutely adorable in the last version but extremely fustrating. Hopefully they tone her down a bit. Looking forward to Gui Gui role too.
