Tong Li Ya and Chen Si Cheng’s Great Expectations reveals posters of veteran-driven male cast

Nothing like putting pressure on yourself by naming your drama, Great Expectations (远大前程)! But then how could you not when the majority are veterans in the field? Real-life husband and wife, Chen Si Cheng and Tong Li Ya, star in the highly anticipated republican drama by sending everyone back to the world of glitz and glamor of 1920s Shanghai in a constant battle of power struggles. Beside playing the male lead, Chen Si Cheng also sits proudly in the team of producers and sole scriptwriter chair that he’s been working on for 5 years. His previous script work was Beijing Love Story (北京爱情故事).

Wow this could be really epic and high quality! Kind of looking forward to this despite not really liking republican dramas and all the idol ones being so…average? Well, I couldn’t get into Sparrow, and Rouge I liked, but didn’t love. It was sort of meh, despite me expecting a “wow”.

Based on the clothing and tidbits of the synopsis, it looks like less war and more 1920s Shanghai livelihood! Something like Chow Yun Fat’s The Bund would be good. =D

The posters do look good, but hopefully they didn’t exhaust their budget with all these big names. I’d love it if there’s finally a republican drama that doesn’t look cheap. That being said, I probably still won’t watch it lol.

I like all the character posters. I also like Yuan Hong and Liu Hao Ran. And, that’s pretty much it. The synopsis from Baidu sounds like a political propaganda, so I’m probably going to skip this one.
