 photo LoveO2O 124.jpg

Second favorite scene! When Xiao Nai and friends are fooled by the gaming company, he opts to brood alone on campus. Once she knows of the news, Wei Wei and friends hurry back to find him. What I love about this scene is the role-reversal. He’s always been her uplifter/supporter in the virtual world, ready to protect and comfort her. And now, she’s the sparkling bright spot in his real life. I cannot stop grinning.

 photo LoveO2O 132.jpg

 photo LoveO2O 133.jpg

 photo LoveO2O 134.jpg

 photo LoveO2O 135.jpg

SMOOOOOOOOOCH!

 photo LoveO2O 136.jpg

 photo LoveO2O 138.jpg

All in all, I enjoyed the movie. I can’t compare it much to the drama (or the novel) cause I didn’t get very far because of work and uploading. I definitely really love the directing and virtual game scenery, was breath-taking and convincing of why many people would spend hours immersed in the virtual world. Boran was stiff in the beginning but gradually loosened up as Xiao Nai and I started to swoon in the latter 2/3 of the movie, especially when he looks at Wei Wei with a satisfied grin. Angelababy’s Wei Wei is likable and never over-the-top as a gamer.

angelababy vs zheng shuang: i do like hard gamers like angela and it’s easier to relate to her outward passionate display of love for games, with zheng shuang, i didn’t feel it as much. angela has better styling too with clothes and hair, while the stylist made zs hair too stiff. lol

boran vs yang yang: i think i too slowly liked boran’s version. he didn’t have 30 episodes to ooze into the character, less time to mess up. yang yang started out stiff too and the drama has way too many cheesy lines which he delivered them quite smoothly. lol!

chemistry: i think the movie wins for me. the movie while only has one kissing scene, it was damn hot and sizzling and you can see wei wei’s reaction from nervous to full on im-liking-this. yang yang is the better kisser but his was more technique than emotions. and ya’ll know how i feel about zheng shuang’s dead fish face. lols

friendship: a little sad we didn’t get to see the friends interact!! they have some hottest friends!

I haven’t seen intense kissing scenes from Boran yet. He might be hiding his skills? Lol.

I think ZS’s long locks in the drama were fake.

  2. 24 thoughts on “Movie Date with Kap (34): Love O2O (China, 2016)

Drama wins hands down for me but the movie is also entertaining. Was surprise to see Jonny Bai Yu in movie and drama as same character, Wei Wei’s admirer. Rejected twice by both Wei Wei’s…..Poor guy!
Boran and Yang Yang are good pals and both acting as Xia Nai…. I prefer Yang Yang even thru I like Boran personally more. I find him more manly and cooler.
    Thanks for the recap!!!

Imagine during audition, who wanna be rejected by Wei Wei? Johnny: “Me! Might as well help the audience with my same face.” Lol. At least he got pretty and cute actresses as his girlfriends.

  3. 24 thoughts on “Movie Date with Kap (34): Love O2O (China, 2016)

The movie was entertaining and I fangirled so much more over the two leads haha. Would rewatch the movie over the drama (I’d gladly stare at Yang Yang’s face all day but would not be able to sit through the cheesy lines in the drama again LOL)

Then watching fan-made music videos is the best option! They have some talented fans out there! ;D

Watched this like five times since it aired. First, in front of my PC, then in front of my laptop with a friend while having a laid-back weekend in a cafe with free wifi, then with my kids who came visiting, then with another friend and just two weeks ago, had it on the tv while entertaining some friends. I like that there’s so much special effects in this movie and it has an easy and cheesy story line that one can easily catch even if you are busy entertaining/multi-tasking. It certainly helped that my hubby upgraded our home entertainment system a month ago. Now I have this huge monstrosity for a tv….100″ (or more? dunno, hubby bought it) UHD curved tv with some God-forsaken sound system. I think my hubby’s undergoing post-mid-life-post-retirement-syndrome! >__<

I envy you Aryael!! Your husband spoils you!! Enjoy it!!

      • 24 thoughts on “Movie Date with Kap (34): Love O2O (China, 2016)

No, Nino, he spoils himself! He’s a sports enthusiast and always gets the tv. I’m stuck to my old PC to watch my dramas! >_<

Now, hubby’s looking through some brochures for some camping holiday in the outback in late Nov when the weather’s warmer and near summer time. It’s not something I’m looking forward to since I have clean-toilet-no-insects-need-wifi-to-watch-drama syndrome! >_<

    • 24 thoughts on “Movie Date with Kap (34): Love O2O (China, 2016)

I’m with you on the clean toilet, Aryael. My friends keep insisting a camping trip!

100in curved TV. *inputs starry eyes.*

      • 24 thoughts on “Movie Date with Kap (34): Love O2O (China, 2016)

He’s looking to rent a camper van. I soooo not looking forward to sharing a toilet that doesn’t flush properly and relies on chemical stuffs to ‘dissolve’ wastes. What if I need to do a BiiiiiIIIggg one??? What if I get diarrhea during the trip??? *horror*

        • 24 thoughts on “Movie Date with Kap (34): Love O2O (China, 2016)

LOL! A big one. My brother lets one RIPPPPPPP every 2 days. XD

I refuse to go camping! I like nature and all but once the sun is down, I need to go back!! hehe.

Thank you for this recap. I too preferred the movie ver. And wrote my piece on it on soompi
Major plus was otp are comfortable with each other. Their hugs are heartwarming and that one kiss in the elevator was very good. Some variation from the novel whicb is a giveb since they obly hav 100 minutes. Some very sweetand memorable scenes. I like it was him walkin to her on their first date. I find Boran ver more relatable, friendlier and less back belly. Angelababy created a lively Weiwei who was outgoing and fun. As opposed to Zheng shuang who had vy little expression. The major flaw of the movie was not enough time so we din get as much bromance or sisterhood. I wished they would have told the story in a part 1 part 2 formula. So then we have 200 mins instead of 100.

    • 24 thoughts on “Movie Date with Kap (34): Love O2O (China, 2016)

Was nodding along with all your points. Their close friendship showed really well through the scenes.

Part 1 and Part 2 formula might drive me a little crazy. XD

      • 24 thoughts on “Movie Date with Kap (34): Love O2O (China, 2016)

haha i was greedy for a lil bit more hence the part 1 and part 2 idea.
Yes i read too that they are good friends and long time ago someone said Angelababy is Jing Bo rain’s type. But they are both happily paired now. He has NiNi now; that also from friends turned more.

  7. 24 thoughts on “Movie Date with Kap (34): Love O2O (China, 2016)

Movie not enough time for the friends!! I love the friends!! Cant believe they briefly touched upon KOs romance.

The transition in the drama is sometimes weird though. After a kiss with wei wei, xiao nai walks away like he just finished another job. But yes, Yang Yang is thr better kisser. <3

Angelababy brought her natural charm into the role. I liked her more than Zheng Shuang, both are on the same acting level. Except one has school and one started out as a model. Lol.

  8. 24 thoughts on “Movie Date with Kap (34): Love O2O (China, 2016)

The movie’s editing is a little bit choppy for me, but the graphics are a whole lot more impressive than the drama. The divorce island and marriage ceremony are so dreamy and beautiful! Baby’s looks fit Weiwei more, sexy, gorgeous and I love her hair 😀

I’m more of a YY fan so… hehe. YY is the Xiaonai for me but he tends to overdo the cold expression? I realise Boran smiles more for his characters even though they are written as cold and aloof. I watched the movie version of Daomu and it was the same there – Xiaoge (Boran) actually had facial expressions, shocking lol.

Like every one mentioned, the friends don’t have enough screen time! But oh, movie version KO was… ah haha ha…

So! In conclusion, I wish it was Baby and YY as the OTP 😀

“Anyone wants to count them petals? LOL. (Inside joke.)”
LOLS. Are you talking about Rookie Agent Rouge? *dead*

Aniwhos, finally watched the movie version. Definitely like Angelababy’s version of Wei Wei more. Movie version was too short 🙁 wish they coulda made a drama version too.

    • 24 thoughts on “Movie Date with Kap (34): Love O2O (China, 2016)

HAHAHAH. Yes, Rin. YES! I only need one person to get my corny joke! X)

  10. 24 thoughts on “Movie Date with Kap (34): Love O2O (China, 2016)

I watched it yesterday. I was totally fangirling!!! The virtual wedding and game fighting scenes were ON POINT!!

    – Story: ✪✪✪ (I felt the main focus of the production crew was on the sets (game and RL), costumes, cinematography and the romance)
    – Chemistry: ✪✪✪½
    – Acting: ✪✪✪✪½
    – Directing: ✪✪✪✪½
    – Entertainment Value: ✪✪✪✪✪ (It was SUPER entertaining)

All in all I score it 8.5 out of 10

The virtual first meeting wasn’t really as good as the drama and book version. However the RL first meeting was slightly better. I also preferred Angelababy’s character of BWW – upbeat, energetic, and down to earth, but that didn’t stop people from appreciating her wit and intelligence.Zheng Shuang’s portrayal was also okay, but she was real calm, elegance, subtle playfulness, fragile and such. I think the book version is somewhere between.

    • 24 thoughts on “Movie Date with Kap (34): Love O2O (China, 2016)

YAY! I love the virtual wedding so much. It’s so beautifully directed with a touch of magic for my inner unicorn. I want to marry in a game. hehe!
