Jiang Chao replaces Kim Tae Hwan in Fox Fall In Love

Wow, another Tiny Times franchise pretty boy, Jiang Chao, stepping up to the plate…but for a messy mess mess. Apparently, Korean actor Kim Tae Hwan has just been replaced with Jiang Chao in the upcoming modern drama, Fox Fall In Love (previously known as Lying Girlfriend, 狐狸的夏天), alongside actress Seven Tan Song Yun. No specific reason was given, leaving theorists to think it’s the result of China’s recent intent on restricting and banning of Korean-Chinese co-productions and its stars. What do I have to say about this…. Politics should stay out of the showbiz world.

Kim Tae Hwan and Tan Song Yun at the Press Conference for their drama a few weeks ago… They had filmed many scenes too.

The decision was so abrupt… Jiang Chao has already been seen filming. Krap.

I feel bad for Kim Tae Hwan. Unlike other Korean celebrities, he doesn’t have a career in Korea.

    1. Oh no, he doesn’t? Sigh. I’m hoping its a blessing in disguise and he can find more opportunities in Korea somehow.

I am pretty sure his Chinese drama was his first drama ever. I think he just models in Korea, so he is unknown in the entertainment industry. Yeah, I hope something good comes out of it. He must be feeling pretty bad.

I feel bad for the Korean celebrities that have activities in China especially those with dramas/movies that didn’t air yet or are not done filming. Anyhow I think Kim Tae Hwan still has his modeling career in Korea though. Jiang Chao… I remembered him as the fire prince in Ice Fantasy that died lol. Barely left me with any impression. Haven’t watch any other projects with him in it. How is his acting?

    1. Lol. I have no experience of watching him in anything, was wondering the same thing.

Jiang Chao’s acting is pretty limited. He was in tiny times as the abusive bf. Maybe he will do better in a role where he does not play a jerk.

I liked Kim Taehwan a lot,the most of all the Korean actors in China. He’d probably be better than Jiang Chao. it’s too bad that this affects him first.

But overall I do not mind stemming the tide of Korean actors going into China. I think Chinese actors should get a shot way more than Korean idols like Yoona, especially since the unmatched dubbing annoys me to no end. It really takes away so much from the show. Kim Taehwan did better since he didn’t have many lines.

definitely agreed. while i feel bad for his expel and the whole banning of korean stars, it does come with one good – allowing more Chinese actors to take the roles. every point has good and bad.

I concur too. I think China has an obligation to strengthen and provide a greater chance to their own native artists and entertainers. There are a lot of Chinese dramas but many of them reuse the same old batch and crew of actors/actresses. That cramps growth among other celebrities but tack on the import of other foreign artists and you’re asking to stagnate your own pool of potential. There can be many more home-grown talent, but they need a fighting chance.

I believe there should be a quota, so it doesn’t seem like a wholesale invasion of the Korean entertainment industry in China. I believe Korea also imposes a very strict limit on the number of Chinese dramas for their domestic market.

I feel bad for him, but I agree there shouldn’t be so many Korean actors/actresses taking over lead roles in Chinese dramas when there are perfectly capable and talented Chinese actors/actresses who can fill the role. For example the Rhapsody of Summer drama with Zhang Han originally cast Song Yi as female lead but then they changed it so a Korean got the lead role and Song Yi became second female lead. Song Yi was absolutely awesome (and pretty) in The Disguiser and really should have had her lead role break by now.

with the whole banning Korean actors/actress thing, does it mean Song Yi got a shot to be a lead role in that drama?! Or is that drama already filmed/aired?
I agree politic should stay away from entertainment and I feel bad for Kim Tae Hwan as he hasn’t made a name yet Korea, but I also think using Chinese actors/actress for Cdramas are for the best, as there will be no longer awkward unmatched dubbing (unless the Korean actually speaks Chinese)

I think it’s already filmed because the press conference was held like last year? So unfortunately no we won’t get to see Song Yi in a lead role 🙁

I’m hoping she can get her break some time soon.

I’ve only seen Jiang Chao in this crappy movie called 校花駕到之極品校花. (It’s somewhere on youtube if anyone is interested LOL) He was cute but that’s about it haha.

Personally I prefer to see Chinese actors/actresses in C-dramas because if I wanna see Korean actors/actresses, I can just watch them in a K-drama where their voice aren’t dubbed over. There’s so many good newbies out there, why not give the opportunity to them instead…

Sucks for Kim Taehwan though that he already started filming and they suddenly just replaced him!
