Michelle Chen and Chen Xiao’s wedding shoots for Vogue, Marie Claire

If Yu Zheng were to be known for only one thing in his life, it would be unintentionally match-making Yang Guo’s Chen Xiao to Little Dragon Girl’s Michelle Chen. Michelle might have endured the toughest period of her life during the filming of Romance of the Condor Heroes, but ultimately, she is the winner. When I read their interviews, he was her source of light and hope during that period. Even before developing romantic feelings for her co-star, she thought it would be great to have a friend like him in her life. Then feelings sparkled and the rest is history. The pair plans to hold two simple wedding ceremonies, one in Taiwan, and one in China to accommodate both sides of the families.

When asked about their similarities, Chen Xiao answers, “1) Our last name (Chen) 2) Quite spontaneous/based on mood, dislike planned and showy demonstrations. 3) Like simplicity and warmth.

Asked how they deal with each other’s flaws, Chen Xiao: “I love even her flaws.” Michelle: “Honestly, no one is perfect. I’m not perfect so I have no right to demand that from my significant other. Love is not easy. Loving a perfect person and accepting all their good qualities is easy. But that is not love. Being able to embrace their imperfection, that to me, is love.”

Oh, that flowered suit is definitely a flaw. But the rest is all good – much happiness to them!

They are probably my fav c-ent couple. Is there any way to read the interview they did in English?

Their interview was pretty mundane and I just grabbed the most interesting bits…. Sorry. >.<

I used to feel dejected that the ZLY x CX ship sank, but this pair looks good together. I’m happy that they are dating each other with marriage in mind right from the start (:

Same boat Tusu. Same boat. Took me a long time to get over my sinking ship. When I see Chen Xiao display the utmost affection towards Michelle, I respect him more and hope that Li Ying could find someone to do just that for her. 🙂

    Mr And Mrs Chen! 😀

When the news about their dating broke, I was among those who were shocked. I had never considered their chemistry strong, on and off the screen. But of course on-screen chemistry — and even off screen — doesn’t translate to the actual state of relationships.

This said, I’m happy that they are happy together and taking it to the next stage. I remember that I felt sorry for her for the vitriol she has to endure after the announcement that she would be playing XLN. I was really amused when she responded like “pigs can fly” (or something like that). She was probably not diplomatic by nature, but I suppose she learnt the hard way how to deal with the harsh press AND netizens. On the other hand, Chen Xiao sometimes comes across rather smug, but I hope that’s just him being himself.

    Congratulations, Chen Square!

It’s funny when you think about it…. Lead couples with extreme chemistry DON’T become a real couple but second lead with main lead always end up as a couple in real life. Or onscreen chemisty is off but real life chemistry is ON.

      Life is so weird.

Michelle thought she was funny when she said pigs could fly. I was embarassed for her! I felt bad for her but she knew what she was getting into when she accepted the most beautiful girl in the Wuxia world. Total miscast.

Yep! Everyone was shocked. I’m guessing that while filming they couldn’t display the most of their chemistry because of the online bullying and she was feeling down most of the time, hence the disappointing chemistry onscreen. But hey, onscreen and offscreen, she got the man!! =D

      Lol@Chen Square!! Good one.

Congrats to the happy couple and LOL @ Yu Zheng being the unintentional matchmaker hahaha

What the hell is that flower suit on CX? Makes my eyes go blurry! The couple is looking great and LOL Michelle definitely came out as the big winner!

I read somewhere that it was CX who wanted Michelle for the XLN role, and Yu Zheng complied. CX had a crush on her all along.

You read it here cause I did too. But a crush is a crush. If she turns out a horrible person, this wouldn’t happen.

Congrats to the couple! It’s funny how he’s always saying when you have my last name. As if that changes anything. She’s a Chen too!

Michelle’s lower half of the face looks rather distorted in comparison to the top half of her. I find her a little plain when placed right next to Chen Xiao but nevertheless they do look like a sweet couple and in those photos i think of her as this sweet little lady who is protected by her handsome & strong man. The pictures are quite well-done, I can feel the warmth of them together.

    • 19 thoughts on “Michelle Chen and Chen Xiao’s wedding shoots for Vogue, Marie Claire

She’s a strong lady, having survived nasty cyber-bulllies who face-shamed her for not being ‘beauty pageant’ beautiful. That depressed her into contemplating suicide at one point. It’s one thing to be critical of miscasting, but entirely mean-spirited to rip down her face.

      • 19 thoughts on “Michelle Chen and Chen Xiao’s wedding shoots for Vogue, Marie Claire

Yes, to be honest, she really isn’t beauty-pageant material…should’ve never been cast as XLN – even if her acting is beyond rebuke, her face just doesn’t fit the image of the ethereal, beautiful and ice-cold maiden. As much as people say acting isn’t all about the face, having the wrong type of face for the wrong type of role can be disastrous. She’s not ugly – she’s just not photogenic, unfortunately. The same goes for Ariel Lin in my opinion (*runs away from AL fans*).

        • 19 thoughts on “Michelle Chen and Chen Xiao’s wedding shoots for Vogue, Marie Claire

actresses shouldn’t have to be judged by ‘beauty pageant’ criteria. TVB ‘actresses’ came from Miss HK or Miss Asia or whatever …look pretty but can’t act. You should be afraid about offending Ariel Lin’s fans. She is darn photogenic without the phoniness of those like AB

        • 19 thoughts on “Michelle Chen and Chen Xiao’s wedding shoots for Vogue, Marie Claire

Lol just like i thought, AL fans to the rescue. Hey, to my credit, I never criticized her for her acting abilities, so don’t be so sensitive.

I never said actresses have to be beauty pageant material. But MC really isn’t. Don’t shoot the truth-sayer. To add insult to injury, she wasn’t even a good XLN. Everyone who I’ve read saw it, didn’t like her rendition. That’s not to say she’s not a good actress in other dramas/movies, but XLN was definitely not meant for her and to outright disregard that, is plain stupidity.

I prefer my actresses to have beauty & acting talent. Sometimes actresses have one but not the other and sometimes neither and some lucky ones have both. If you don’t have the looks, you better be damn sure you’re a good actress. Regardless of what you think about looks, the world is superficial and actors and actresses are judged by looks as one criteria of their popularity. To think otherwise, is ignorance.
