Kai Ko makes a comeback with republican drama Wu Ying

Well, if there’s anything I like more than unicorns, it is second chances (as long as you didn’t cross the line of humanity.) Taiwanese actor Kai Ko, after making a splash in the film world with You’re The Apple of My Eye, was arrested in Beijing in 2014 for drug abuse. Now that his appearance ban in Mainland China is about to be lifted, he makes a low-key return to dramaland with republican drama, Wu Ying (舞樱), playing an upright and patriotic policeman and son of a warlord, determined to drive the Japanese out of his homeland. In all honesty, I don’t know much about this kid to comment about his return. Lol.

His leading lady is played by Hou Meng Yao (Royal Romance, The Story of Mulan). She plays a Japanese killer. Way to make their interests clash in deadly ways. I like the idea of her being the bad guy because she looks so sweet! MUHAHA.

He only took marijuana, which is nothing compared to heavy drug use by many in the Hollywood entertainment industry being courted by China for co-op projects. A Chinese actor was blacklisted for visiting hookers, but a Hollywood actor who had an infamous incident with a hooker got invited to a big Chinese award show. How do they reconcile that?

Cultural differences. What I believe is that China likes to keep their dirty laundry a secret (a clean image to the outside world), even if it’s basically a case of open secrets, until caught, and is forced to carry out serious banishment. So silly.

Chinese law didn’t apply for non-Chinese? or Chinese law didn’t apply for citizen from other country (US) considering PRC claim that Taiwan is part of PRC (in this case Kai Ko)?

Hou Meng Yao!!! I like her! Her performance as Hua Mulan was really good! I wished she had more (and better) projects to work on. She’s so pretty and talented!

Don’t really know either of these peeps. Surprised that Kai Ko does look familiar though. Not sure from where, since I’ve never seen Apple of my Eye, but that smirk…looks familiar. Idk. I live in LA county, so can’t say I really care about actors’ drug abuse. I mean, it’s such a common thing, and usually harmless to the general public (like pretty victimless crime except for the abusers themselves). Unless the celeb was put away from stealing, rape, murder etc (crimes with innocent victims) I don’t usually think it’s too bid of a deal. Lol the consequences of living in LA.

In short, any criminal committing crimes involving himself deserves a second chance.

Maybe from tiny times? I think he was in the first couple, and then they had to do a HORRIBLE cut editing job on one of the later ones to remove shots of his face once he was blacklisted.

Why do I feel the uniform reminds me of DBI–looks quite modernish that it might as well be in the alternate Republican Era that was DBI.
