Gu Fang Bu Zi Shang begins filming with Wallace Chung and Angelababy

Yep! Another production starts rolling. Gu Fang Bu Zi Shang or otherwise known to novel fans as A Lonesome Fragrance Waiting to be Appreciated (孤芳不自赏) holds its booting ceremony today too. Cast members include Wallace Chung, Angelababy, Sun Yi Zhou, and Gan Ting Ting. The novel is written by Feng Nong and tells the story of a highly intellectual but quite average-looking maid who is abducted and married off to the enemy of her master. Trapped, she uses a fake identity to protect her life while living in the enemy territory. Of course, where ever there are people, feelings begin to grow and develop, and this causes conflicts with her loyalty to her original master. So she loves the successful general but has to sabotage him for her master’s sake…? Okay, folks, did I get the story right? It’s 12am at night here. Lol.

Off to post pictures!…and then sleep.

Even if she dresses down, Angelababy still looks pretty flawless.

I know the other confirmed cast is Gan Ting Ting as Princess Yao Tian but the lady wearing sunglasses below gives me doubts. Is it really Ting Ting?

Directed by Ju Jue Liang (Patriot Yue Fei, Ice Fantasy) and written by Zhang Yong Chen (The Last Concubine, Moment in Peking), Gu Fang Bu Zi Shang begins filming today.

I love this story. I hope they do it justice. I remember I cried and cried whole reading, so I`m looking forward to the angst.

    1. Do tell something juicy! But not of the ending of course. 🙂

Was it a bad ending? Why so much crying?

This is a great book! The main character is a maid, stranded in an enemy country and she has to rely upon her education and musical skills to charm those around her in order to get back to her master. He is the last one of the family that rescued her from the gutter and raised her. But, you know, sometimes pretended to love (or hate) someone really creates those feelings. And, in the meantime, her beloved master also begins to change. It’s a multi year, multi relationship star-crossed kind of story. There are a lot of good side characters as well.

Can’t wait for the drama – is it planned for late 2016?

I read on weibo this morning that it will be slated for Hunan TV’s prime drama time slot in 2017.

Wallace looks young but next to angelababy, he looks like her uncle. Lol!!

I need him to step back and let other younger actors shine!!

Ahhhhhhh IM SO EXCITED FOR THIS DRAMA.

    LOVED the novel.
    Ending couldn’t have been better.

There was angst, but not TOO much of it.

Just wish the lead actor was someone else other than Wallace Chung, he doesn’t fit the character imo :\\\

(and no she didn’t sabotage him. They’re both intelligent people, more of battle-of-wits per se)

What do you think?
